I recommend JCPenney to all my friends. All the stylists are very attentive and welcoming. My favorite hair stylist, Anna Kate, has been doing my balayage for years and it's better than I ever could imagine every single time!! Over the years she has done highlights, full color, trims, bangs, and balayage. All of the stylists are very well versed in their specialty. I highly recommend the JCPenney salon in alabaster!Services: Shampoo & conditioning

I had a horrible experience and it needs to b talked about. I go here frequently for earrings and clothes.Today Oct 8 ,2023 was an experience that should never have happened. I was looking for costume pearls( I wanted a certain size) first a employee asked if I needed help ok then I noticed I was followed and watched in the women's department by a make employee ..First off I got bank 2. Dont judge anyone by what they wear 3. B less noticeable . I used to work retail so I know what you were doing. I get it you have loss . I saw this cause many sets were missing pairs. Remember my picture and see I come once or twice a month for earrings that I pay for. Do U need my credit score? My bank account? It was uncalled for . Dont do this nonsense again.

LaKitta has done my hair twice over the past few weeks and did a great job, so I recommended her to my mom u0026 sister. My experience with her today was a nightmare! I still can't believe how my sister and I were treated. We set an appointment with her for last week, and she had to cancel, because she was out with covid. Instead of finding someone else to do our hair sooner, we rescheduled for 5 days later. (This means that for a whole week, I wore a hat to work out of loyalty to her). When we arrived, LaKitta was *starting* a SEW-IN on someone else's hair at the time of our APPOINTMENT! She barely greeted us and told us to have a seat. I asked how long it would take and if we needed to come back. She very nonchalantly stated that it would be about 30 mins and that we could go out to lunch and come back. (Huh!????) My sister asked if she would give us a discount to accommodate for the fact that we had an appointment, she was doing someone else's hair, and it would actually take much longer than 30 minutes. She said no (again, very nonchalantly). My sister was upset, and rightfully so, as she drove for almost 30 minutes for an appointment with this person that I highly recommended and said would be on time. LaKitta stated that my sister could go somewhere else because "one thing she doesn't do is touch people's hair who have an attitude". At that, we both left and did not return. I am a very patient and understanding person. I completely understand that things happen and a stylist could end up off schedule for a variety of reasons. My issue is not really that she was behind on time. My issue is that she didn't communicate and that she was so rude and nonchalant about it. It would have taken her less than a minute to text me and let me know that she was running behind and to come an hour later IF I could. That would have allowed me to do something productive with my time...like review for the microbiology exam that I had to take today! Instead, she assumed that we had nothing to do with our Saturday but sit around and wait on her. It would have been completely unacceptable if we had come dragging into the salon, 30+ mins late, with no apologies or empathy for her time, and expecting to still be helped. At the very least, I'm sure she would have wanted some communication from us...so why were we deemed unworthy of the same basic kindness, empathy and respect?? She literally seemed irritated that we were there. The sad part about it is that had it not been for my sister, I would have sat and waited, paid full price, and continued to book appointments with LaKitta. I'm glad this happened though, because it showed that she did not value me as a person, or as someone who was becoming a loyal client. She also did not value my sister as a person, or as a new client who was meeting her for the first time. Very disappointing.

I really think the overall brand of JCP has come down over the years. You could find a lot more stuff when you went shopping here in the past. I also think the quality was considerably better. That being said, and comparing it to other JCP locations, this one isn't too bad. One thing that stands out is that it is well organized and it doesn't help that the actual building isn't too old. A lot of JCP locations kind of just have a dingy feel about them, but that isn't the case here. Lights are a little brighter and the floors don't look like they have repurposed an old grocery store and didn't take the time to clean the floors before moving product in. Staff are friendly enough when you interact with them (typically only at check out). Prices are probably a little less than the other department stores that are similar (Belk/Kohls). If you're in the area, I would recommend checking them out if you are looking for clothes or home stuff. Just don't be shocked if they don't have what you need.

They allowed me to schedule an appointment for a cut and color with someone who no longer works here. No attempt to notify me prior to my appointment was made.

I wish I could give my haircut and the whole experience 0 stars. I cannot believe they let me leave the salon with my hair looking the way it does. The lady that cut my hair didn’t have a certification/picture by her station like the other two ladies did. It also took her longer to check me out to pay than it did for her to butcher my hair. She had no idea what she was doing. 0/1000 do NOT recommend. The lady who butchered my hair said that my layers would look great once I blow dry my hair. The lady next to her said that it looked great. I didn't think twice about it other than the fact it was shorter than I wanted. I've been walking around for a week with the back of my head looking like a 5 year old cut my hair. I can't even believe it.

My first time here. I came for my stylist that started there a few months ago. Cheryl is amazing and some of the other stylist that I encountered seem very nice as they greeted me as I walked in and thanked me for coming in as I was leaving.

This salon is a veritable REVOLVING DOOR of qualified stylists who can do African American hair treatments. I've been getting my hair done here for at least 3 years, and it definitely has not been consistent. The most recent hair appointment I tried to make couldn't even be scheduled because the last qualified stylist they had who could do my hair left the salon. Staff turnover in certain sectors is to be expected, but it is a very frequent occurrence here.Luckily the experiences I did have over the years with all the different stylists was at least somewhat decent (thus the amount of stars in my rating being as many as there are). That's because the type of styling and treatment I get is very simple and straight forward, so there really isn't a lot of opportunity for error. It is a chemical treatment, however, so not just anyone can do it. I also observed accommodating last minute or walk-ins for stylists who could do African American hairstyles was slim to none. I had an appointment each time, so that was never a problem for me. But during that time, when someone called or came in seeking that type of concession (even early in the morning), they were quickly shot down. Therefore, the lack of stylist availability and utter inconsistency is the biggest problem with this salon. If you find a stylist you like, do yourself a favor...don't get attached.

Fairly clean and organized. Better than most clothing stores in the area. And one of the few places I can find clothing to wear that not only fits, but doesn't make me feel like a child trying to squeeze into her mother's clothes.

We showed up as walk-ins on a Sunday and they were able to get us right in. My daughter went from almost waist length hair to a bob and Amber did an awesome job for a very reasonable price. My daughter is happy, I'm happy! Would recommend.
