Asleson's have always had higher prices for product a person can buy anywhere, but I try to support local business. I just can't support Asleson's anymore! Made a "pick up service appointment" for our snow blower we purchased there. Reminding you, we made a appointment. I took the morning off as it was supposed to be picked up by noon. No one shows up, what? I call asking, "what's up." The young man said, "We never guarantee our pick up dates or times. Well, it looks like it will have to get rescheduled for Thursday." What's the point of making an appointment if you are told their is no guarantee of pick up? What a joke. No apologies, no phone call to cancel ahead of time. This equals no customer service. These days a smile in your local neighborhood buissnes is not enough! From now on it is Ace Hardware/Stoughton Lumber in town or Home Depot for me. At least they smile and honor their buissnes commitments. Asleson's, acting like you care about your customers is not enough. You must deliver on your promises and prove it. The young man on the phone acted like I was lucky he picked up the phone. Well buissnes owner, remember, customers always have a choice where to spend their money.

I’ve had mostly good customer service at the Stoughton location. Two weeks ago I stopped in and ordered a carb for my chainsaw. 1 week went by so I called over there. They told me they didn’t know any about it but the maintenance guy was probably working on it. I told them I only need the part and will be installing it myself. He said oh, it’s probably ready for pick up but the proper paperwork wasn’t filled out. So I called back that Monday and it wasn’t ready. One week later I called again and there was no one that could help me figure out what was going on with my part. I am canceling my order and ordering from Amazon.

I have ALWAYS had excellent service and quality products from Asleson's Hardware Store in Stoughton. Mark Asleson provides superior advice and stands behind all the maintenance and repairs of your equipment. The friendly and helpful staff are willing to answer any and all questions that a patron might have. Mark is the third generation to own and manage Asleson's Hardware Store and this local family business continues to stand the test of time.

I've driven past this place at least hundreds of times, possibly over a thousand in the last 10 years. Never really thought about it. But today, I needed a nut and a bolt. The prices on individual hardware seem to be comparable to Ace or True Value. Unfortunately, I didn't browse and explore the store so I'm not sure about their general pricing, but it's safe to guess they're prices on everything else likely isn't too different, higher or lower, than the aforementioned competitors. Perhaps I'll stop in again soon to see for sure. If I think of it, maybe I can get some pics too.Unfortunately, today wasn't a good day for any of that for me. The following might be too much information, but I'm going to share anyway. I have Bipolar, I'm not medicated but should be, and today I nearly crossed the line into psychosis, or possibly just may have completely lost control. I'm still in a danger zone but slowly improving, thanks to a fantastic conversation with a fellow bipolar friend who is stable and was able to help me process things and came up with great ideas for improving circumstances that led me into this spiral. I highly recommend the Bipolar Support Club on an app called Club House, if anyone reading this either suffers from it or has someone in their life who does. It's an amazing place to receive support, encouragement, ideas, and just to not feel alone. The group meets every Tuesday and Thursday and 11am and 7pm sharp, Central Standard Time and runs for 2 hours. I hope the plug isn't a problem and I hope I don't get in trouble with Google, but it's a very important thing and this is the only review I'm writing that will contain this info. I know you're here to read about the hardware store, but who knows? Maybe this will reach that one person who is on the edge, ready to end their life and they will be saved. It could happen, so Google, please don't punish me for this.Anyway, thanks for reading all that if you did. I genuinely hope it helps even one person. I know this isn't the right place for it, but that's exactly what might make it save someone. Come to any meeting, share, receive love, respect, and hope. ???

Awesome local hardware store! I've always had good experiences, but today was outstanding. I needed a screw/bolt that was missing from a mudflap on my car. They didn't have the exact replacement, but the store employee came out to my car to help me figure out what would work. Once we landed on something - he then installed it for me!! Only took 5 minutes, but far above and beyond. Great store!

I always seem to come during off hours, when the "young" staff is in charge. THEY ARE AWSOME! (<-:) As an old guy who builds stuff, but does not always know the correct name of, say "the smaller U Clamp that's made of heavier metal than a regular U Clamp." (A Cable Clamp) these young folk are always respectful. helpful, knowledgeable, and never afraid to ask for wisdom from their fellow staff members. Shopping here is really refreshing, and I'm never "hurried along" while I'm standing in the hardware isle (or anywhere else) trying to figure out if a fine thread cap screw would be the best thing to mount a support bracket with. Old Time Hardware Store. A really nice place to shop

I spent like 20 minutes looking for support pegs for bookshelves at Walmart, with no luck. And I never saw a person who could help me. So when I was done, I called Aselson's Hardware in town. Which is a big thing, I usually never call places, I like to browse(usually I'm not in a hurray). But I had a migraine and didn't want to walk around looking for an item again. A young man answered the phone, super nice, I didn't know how to properly word my item, as I didn't have the name "support peg" yet. But the guy said "we have a wide array of pegs and shelving support, stop in and will help." Which is exactly what happened! Wish I had gotten the kids name. A young man with glasses helped me find the items, helped me narrow down what I needed/size/amount and other things I didn't think of. I'm super glad I didn't have to wait for an online order. I did have to pay a bit more than online/Amazon/Walmart. But I got better service, no doubt I'd have bout the same thing three times at Walmart because it was the wrong size if not for the great guy helping me! I've also had the best service at the paint bar, be it the conversation while they mix and help choosing. And they helped me make a decision on what kind I needed, since I didn't realize there's a difference between the paints. I just grabbed. Shop small Stoughton!
