Really enjoyed our stay at the Oxbow. Newly remodeled comfy nice sized rooms. Attached bar with live music?
Safety: Quiet nice area

This was an interesting stay; i loved the little details like the outdoor hammock and I definitely enjoyed being able to access live music and a meal at the attached restaurant; and what a fun idea to have the option to select records to play in your room :). I think it might have been where my room was located (the first door, bottom level, underneath the stairs), but as cute as the place was, and as much as I wanted to appreciate it, I was uneasy the whole time due to the mildewy smell and run down shower space. Couldn't get comfortable because I was worried so much about what was causing the smell...wore my shoes the entire time. Wanted to love this place, enjoyed the little details, but couldn't wait to check out.

The good: Pillows were comfortable.
The disappointing: underwhelming record collection, not the library they advertise. Various old stains on the carpet in room 37, gross.
I expected more from the pictures and eclectic build-up on the website.
Nearby activities: Ice cream shop across the road, Ramone's Ice Cream Parlor.

We enjoyed our time st the Oxbow! The location was perfect in Eau Claire to all the things we were looking at doing! The record player and record library were a unique touch!
We are thankful to have found this gem of a hotel for our trip!
As other reviews have shared, the parking can be tricky, but it wasn't horrible- just keep an eye out!
The front desk and restaurant staff were very nice!

Great! Unique room & centrally located in Eau Claire. I locked myself out of my room *twice* and the woman at the desk was very accommodating both times. Haha oops! Vinyl library was a happy surprise. They have a pretty good selection. I ended up with Joni Mitchell, Talking Heads, and Blondie. TV had tons of channels, including about 10 channels in Spanish (yay language learners). Coffee was good. Wish they had breakfast! Luckily the co-op provided, and the morning walk was actually quite nice.
Walkability: Super walkable. Felt safe as a solo 24 y/o woman. The bike trail is about a block away. Bars across the street. Food co-op 2 blocks away (they have great breakfast burritos, btw).

Nice place, but missing some things that would make it great.
Parking was difficult to figure out. There was one small lot immeidately after a turn that was hard to notice, and I had to call the hotel to find out they have parking across the street. Room was comfortable and I slept really well. but as others stated the walls are thin and the road noise can be a problem.
The restaurant was closed, and I didn't see any breakfast offered in the morning. Coffee was good, but would have liked more coffee options. Record choices were also pretty obscure, but record players were a unique addition to the hotel. Hopefully more choices are added. Room had some unique furniture like lamps and art work and clocks, and those were nice.
Overall, rooms were clean, staff were friendly, location was good, and I had a comfortable stay. Loved the big pillows. I would come here again.

We came for the Eau Claire Marathon this last weekend. The Oxbow and the Lakely became a very special part of our experience that we will never forget! We will be back some day.

My wife and I decided to have a weekend getaway to Eau Claire and chose to stay here at the Oxbow based off of the photos and description. I have stayed in many motels working across the midwest, and as soon as I arrived I realized this is an old "crack shack" motel that has been renovated. My suspicions were confirmed as soon as we walked into the room - the odor inside the room was nasty, and I woke up several times throughout the night due to the smells. The walls are not sound proofed, so you can hear vehicles going by while laying on the bed. Overall the aesthetics / theme were cool, location seems great, but the underlying issues listed above impacted our comfort too much to lookover. This is a $75 per night motel, and we checked out halfway through our trip to go home.

Very unique boutique hotel with a great restaurant and bar that makes wonderful handmade drinks. Wasn’t our first visit and definitely won’t be our last.

Decided to stop for a night on my drive back from Chicago to Minneapolis. I'm so glad I found this gem of a hotel! The room I had was SUPER cute, clean and cozy! Loved the exterior patio although it was too cold to sit outside and enjoy it. The service staff at check-in and checkout were very personable and kind. The bed was soft and comfy. My one night stay was just fabulous. And I found 3 great record choices to play in my room! If I come thru Eau Claire again this will place always be my jam!

Pretty cool hotel, def enjoyed our stay here. Parking was in a few different places but otherwise the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We'd probably stay here again.
