I called the Avis rental desk at yakima airport to make sure they would be open to pick up my rental reservation in the evening. The agent at the airport assured me they would be there from 645 to 745 Pm,and my rental would be ready to go. Went to pick up the rental and no one was there. I waited , tried to call, I could hear the phone ringing behind the wall at the desk.I called Avis and was informed the airport Avis location is a franchise. Avis corporate could not give me any info, no contact numbers nothing. Well least I got "sorry" If you rent a car from this location you better double verify they will be there. I only verified once....ughh.

WORST rental experience ever! Would give Zero stars if they let me. Had to rent a car out of town after my card died. When I tried to return it in my home town, they said it would be a $500 fee. So, I had to pay somebody to follow me back to Yakima, which was a 6 hour round trip in 94 degree weather. (BEWARE! They stamp extra constraints onto their copy of the contract but not on your copy.) When I did return it to Yakima, the unpleasant employee overcharged me by $525 on my Debit card. When I pointed it out, he said he fixed it and gave me a new receipt. They also refused to give me the AAA discount. An hour later I checked my bank account and they charge me the higher price which put my account in overdrawn status. I called them, of course they didn't answer their phone, so I left a message. 1.5 days later, still no return call. So I called the Avis 800 number. Many calls, many transfers, and many times put on hold, a supervisor finally told me SORRY! THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO. IT WILL FIX ITSELF OVERNIGHT. Well, of course, it did NOT fix itself overnight. So here we are leaving on vacation and unable to access my own money in my own account cuz these idiots over charged me!!! I will NEVER NEVER NEVER use AVIS EVER again!

Came a few minutes early for a 6pm reservation. 30 minutes later and still here with no Avis rep. Still on-hold 14 minutes later with the 866 number.

I called the front desk and explained my situation with my rental car, but they kept hanging up on me and avoiding my calls. Very unprofessional. I do not feel like calling them back for them to resolve my issue since they already wasted enough of my time.

They're one of the big faceless car rental companies. Rates are hit and miss depending on when you book. Always look for promo codes online to save you some money. Make sure to also check competitors!
