I recently rented a Kubota KX057-4 from Art in the rental department and they were amazing to work with! They were very communicative, punctual with the equipment, and provided an extra clean up bucket for us at a very competitive price! We are excited to use them again in a few weeks to wrap up our project!

A little bit of everything in terms of hardware... and the some. I believe they have more nursery supplies than the Thriftway or Vashon Ace across the street; they seem to specialize in machine rentals. They also have a selection of cold drinks; some adult beverages, snacks, pet food; good selection of work clothes (not many product lines, though). Camping goods, art work you might like to decorate your property with... I especially like the wood sculpture of an eagle they have just inside the entrance, but you'd need a forklift to move it, a large truck to get it home, and a crew to unload it (it no doubt weighs a lot). Good selection of stuff for needed for barbecuing, outdoor cooking, and outdoor recreation.If you're a visitor and looking for items you'd need for camping out or hanging around the beaches, this is the place to go: it's as much of a general store as it is for hardware.Downside: proper but indifferent service... but that might just be one individual. I realize that hardware stores need people who have expertise in a wide variety of construction trades who may be more used to being on a work crew than running a cash register. Being a bit gruff isn't bad -- we all have bad days -- and, as I said, the service was proper, polite, and respectful... just not very warm. No problem: I'm not in the store to make friends or have a warm, fuzzy experience. Second thing: unlike other stores I visit, no veteran's discount is offered. That's their choice to make -- and I have no problem with them doing that. It's a courtesy offered, not an obligation on their part or entitlement on mine. I understand their policy and am cool with it -- but I'd likely patronize the business that distinguishes itself by offering this courtesy, yanno? At least the employees didn't glare at me for wearing my U.S, Air Force baseball cap like the store across the street.A good store. Hope they do well.

Passive aggressive and impatient customer service is not attractive quality in a customer facing position.Casey was just following the stores policy.You lost a custom over a $7 transaction.

Island Lumber really came through for us in an emergency, in particular the absolute stellar employees Alex and Denise. In the middle of a cold spell we unexpectedly ran out of propane in our RV. That would've normally been a survivable situation because our family member could just move into the main house for the evening, but we learned on my way to the store that they had just had a close contact covid exposure at work, and they thus needed to quarantine immediately. With elderly visitors from out of town there was no way we could bend those rules. Because of the delay in responding to the covid exposure, I got there shortly after 5pm, when the propane team leaves for the day. I was absolutely devastated to leave my frantic family member literally freezing in a time of calamity. Alex and Denise were compassionate and helped me stay calm as they figured out a plan of approach. They contacted supervisors to make sure they were not acting out of turn in getting my emergency resolved, at great inconvenience to them. They were so kind in explaining everything to me as they proceeded to navigate the system to make sure that I was sent home with propane that I could use to make my family member's quarantine warm and safe. Thanks, Alex and Denise for being really stellar employees and people who went far above the bare minimum with such grace!

I'm consistently underwhelmed by their customer service. Ace always goes above and beyond to make their customers happy, and they've patiently and graciously answered all my questions about products over the phone during Covid when I haven't felt safe going inside the store and needed to use curbside pickup. Island Lumber, by comparison, does not seem to care if a trip to the store is inconvenient for you or perhaps even frightening during the pandemic. They just transfer you from department to department and person to person and have you on hold for forever and never actually answer your questions--they just tell you to come to the store and look at the products yourself, even if the question is as simple as "what are the dimensions of this product?" or "what is the price of this product?" Team members often seem confused and lacking in knowledge about the department they work in. Some of their team members are downright rude. I will support Ace over Island Lumber any day and only use Island Lumber when I absolutely have to, because they don't seem to deserve my business. Customer service used to be much better here. Felt compelled to write a review because when customer service is that abysmal, the company should be concerned about how their employees are representing their business and should try to work to earn back and keep the loyalty of local customers. Very disappointed.

Love, love the paint department. Places to sit and think about colors and possibilities. Jen (works in paint department) listens and helps any way she can. Friendly, un-rushed atmosphere filled with beautiful paint. What more could you want?!
