“Great teachers, great location, and I love the classes! I on-boarded with one of GLSC's trainers (shout out to Laura, who is a wonderful trainer and one of my favorite teachers!) to get acquainted with the techniques used during the group classes. Classes are capped at 12 participants, which means coaches can have eyes on you to make sure you're being safe and have good technique. The classes really focus on providing cues for getting the most out of each movement and not injuring yourself. The workouts are scalable, so you can push yourself according to what is best for your body on a given day (although I find that the workouts kick my ass - in a good way - on most days) I'm coming from the world of HIIT workouts, and while GLSC's classes certainly include some HIIT components, I appreciate that a focus of this gym involves barbells (for deadlifts, cleans, snatches, OH presses, etc). I'm a fan of this place and I'm happy to call this my home gym!”

“Turns out the motivation I needed to exercise regularly was to feel like a main character - this place does that and more. Super fast-paced so no chance of getting bored, and the boxing may seem intimidating at first but the instructors are fantastic at walking newcomers through the moves. Besides that, the locker rooms/bathrooms are super clean, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.Highly recommend this place, especially in a city where it's hard to make yourself do physical activity in the dark winter months”

“Slate has been a fantastic gym for me for about 3 years. Fitness-wise, I've noticed great gains in strength and mobility. Lifestyle-wise, I've found myself feeling better (re: more happy and energetic) throughout the rest of my day. Community-wise, it's perfect! a balance of friendly competition, coaches that understand and cater to your specific needs, and coaches and clients alike that hang out outside of the gym as well.PS - the coaches really know there sh*t about skeletal and muscular systems. Very supportive community of instructors and fellow gym-goers- everyone's here from expecting moms to people with kids well into their teenage years or even college! The coaching is top notch, with a focus on safety and scaling workouts to meet the needs of each individual. The programming is thoughtful, with clearly-defined training cycles and routine retesting to measure our progress. And last but not least, the community is extremely friendly and supportive.”

“Before deciding on EBCF, I visited all 7 other Crossfit gyms in Seattle. I initially decided that it offered the best programming and seemed to have a good community but I didn't realize the extent to which those were true. During my year and a half with them I developed life long friends and also improved in almost every skill. I came in not being able to do a bar muscle up and now I can consistently do 40 in a workout and it's not like I am new to Crossfit. I have been doing it since 2016, but Rohan knows how to push everyone in the gym. I could not recommend EBCF enough.”

I am new to gyms and got a trainer from the gym (Tybald) who I had six sessions with and was excellent and taught me the basics of strength training. “Great Gym, super fun, and helpful. One thing I love about their team is that they have many different ways to create, "touch points" with their members. They send emails, and texts, and work with folks not only when the client is in a session or class, but also outside of it. They also tend to offer events for the their fitness community to hang out and do things together! This is a fantastic place to work out!”

“This is the only gym/group fitness class that has ever worked for me. I started last year at age 44, overweight and totally out of shape. I joined with the sole goal of getting stronger. The coaches welcomed and encouraged me the entire way. I'm now down 20pounds, and in better shape than I was 10 years ago. The people are great - everyone's just there to work. It's all ages, all body types, so no judgment. Sam the owner is the best - she'll push you just enough to challenge yourself without getting discouraged or injured. I'm so grateful I finally found something that works for me!”

“TruFusion is an amazing place that has really ignited a fire in me to start a fitness journey. The environment is SO supportive and welcoming, no matter what you look like, or how fit you are. The instructors are very encouraging and the classes are easy to follow. You’re encouraged to go at your own pace and never made to feel bad if you can’t keep up. I love the variety they offer, and the hot classes are AMAZING. They have ample lockers and the locker rooms are nice. The mat and towel rentals are nice to have. Overall, it’s been worth every penny and for the first time in my life I look forward to working out!”

“I've been training with Nikolai for 6 months. He's an excellent trainer, is an expert in this field and most importantly he's a really nice person. Workouts are super fun and challenging. Throughout the workout session he always keeps us motivated and makes sure we maintain the right form. He makes sure that my exercises are pain free by taking feedback from me and making adjustments in the workouts. And awesome music in the gym to keep you motivated during the workout! Morning, afternoon and evening classes available which is great for folks with various work schedules.I've been a member for over 2 years and my wife for over 1. “I've been a member of the Seattle Athletic Club for almost 2 years and it was a huge step up from where I had been going. I've lived in the Northgate neighborhood since moving to Seattle over 6 years ago and had been going to another more commercial gym for a few years but made the change to Seattle Athletic club and don't regret it one bit. The facilities are clean, the staff is so friendly and accomodating, it is never overwhelmingly busy, and the class instructors are so nice and helpful if you are ever wanting to try something new. I really like the community feel too when they have parties for members seasonally where you get to see the staff and members all relaxed and letting loose. The only downside that I can possibly think of is that it is a little more expensive than national commercial gyms but it is well worth it.”

“I have very specific needs in a gym: cast iron kettlebells (in good condition) up to at least 32kg, floorspace to train ballistic KB movements and get-ups, open gym hours between 6:30-8:00am, permission to use chalk and train barefoot or in socks, a high bar for dead hangs and pull-ups.Three days in, Pro Fit is meeting my requirements at a fair price, and the staff has been helpful and courteous. My only request would be for a second 24kg bell in the class space, and/or a pair of them in the gym turf area.”
