I recently visited Jan's Dressmaking and Alteration after purchasing two ill-fitting sport coats online. Despite the challenges of my non-standard body type, she managed to make some adjustments to improve the fit, particularly with sleeve length and button placement. While the current jackets are still somewhat loose and sloppy in spots, she suggested ordering custom-fit replacements at a comparable price. Although I could have opted to have the current ones deconstructed for more extensive alterations, the cost wouldn't justify it. I appreciate her expertise and look forward to returning soon to order a new jacket, confident that it will be both reasonably priced and perfectly tailored to my measurements.

Do not recommend. Disgusted with the greedy persona and taking advantage of a college student. A girl who is under 5 ft tall and full figure has a hard time find dresses for a pageant that fit comfortably. To charge for pinning the dress was fair but then to unpin it after she paid for your service was just horrible. You encouraged her to find it cheaper. She paid for your pinning service while you held her dress hostage. YUCKY services!!!

Jan is amazing! She was willing to work on my wedding dress with only a month to spare for a reasonable price and did an amazing job on the lace and it fit perfectly. She's also a very sweet and caring lady. I highly recommend her.

I initially called Jan's Alterations to inquire about the cost of hemming a bridesmaids dress. Jan asked that I bring the dress in first for her to take a look at, and from there she’ll be able to provide a price, which was completely understandable. Jan was so friendly, offered a fair price, and did a great job altering the dress. Tried to get a min and max pricing on hemming my dress for my friends wedding and she basically refused to tell me. If you want business from brides or their bridesmaids whom are willing to play the money you gotta give them an idea how much they gotta pull or save up. She lost my business. I could have answered any and all questions regarding the dresses to help them evaluate it but they asked nothing.
