I have been bringing my toddler to child watch for about a year now and he loves it. When he first started coming, he understandably struggled being left with new people without his mom. During that time, the staff was able to use snacks as a way to soothe him and get him acclimated to child watch. Now that he loves going, he loves to play with the kids and the workers for about an hour, eats a snack, and continues playing until it is time for us to go. I understand allergies and concerns related to that, but parents should be notified to not bring any nut products in, snack containers can be checked, and parents can sign forms stating they understand the rules for potential allergies, that they agree not to bring those items in, and list any of their children’s allergies. The workers at the RF Wilkinson YMCA child watch also do a great job of following the rules where kids can’t have snacks with nut products, that kids sit in the high chair or at the table while eating, and one worker stays in eye sight of the kids to make sure they’re not getting into other kids’ snacks. Taking away the options for snacks in child watch will negatively impact all involved. Please adjust rules and regulations, but still allow snacks!

Had a great experience here for swimming lessons. It was affordable compared to other places and the instructors were great, espeically Lee. My daughter had a blast. I wish they offered more programs! Shes not old enough to continue with more lessons until shes 3.

The RF Wilkinson YMCA has been an incredible place for me and my family, especially as a family with a young child. The staff are always friendly and engaging, but my favorite staff are in child watch! The child watch team are always so incredible with my daughter and allow me to be able to have some much needed “mom time.” I have heard there is going to be a ban on snacks during child watch and I would just like to clarify that snacks are an extremely important tool for the child watch team! Snacks are an easy way to get toddlers (especially first-timers) to calm down and feel comfortable, and it keeps the team from having to hunt down the parents if the child is having a major meltdown. It makes their job easier, the child happier, and our parental experience better! Please don’t ban snacks!!!!!

I just completed water therapy a week ago. I made a lot of progress and I promised my therapist and, myself that I would keep it up. The thing is I am not comfortable working out alone. I have a workout buddy that will available next month, but I didn't want to put my workout on hold, so I made myself go alone one day this week. The experience wasn't bad at all.I was greeted by staff and members from the time I walked in until I left 1.5 hours later. I can't wait to go back next week.

EVERYONE is fantabulous!!! The staff are warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and so willing to help me. I have only been a member for about a week now, but I’m treated like family. From the smiling staff members at the Front Desk to the friendly lifeguards, everyone I’ve encountered makes me feel appreciated and seen. Everything sparkles! The lobby, the fitness areas, the locker rooms, the pool / hot tub, … the staff :) I am so fortunate to be a part of this amazing community! Kudos to My Y !!

It is a decent Y. The classes can be a bit tight and the pool lanes can get crowded. The one thing to be aware of is their billing policy. Much like the entire industry, they have draconian cancellation policies that require you to give them plenty of notice when cancelling a membership. They won't offer you a credit or be reasonable in their approach. I had a membership on hold that was automatically restarted. To be fair, they had sent me an email when it went on hold saying it would automatically restart. Of course, three months later I forgot that and ended up paying for three months I never used. No reasonableness on their end, no meeting you in the middle, no recognition that they could see I hadn't used my membership in months. Just happily charging me. I expect that out of for profits - I was hoping the Y would be a bit better. Happy to have moved on to a much better facility at the James City County Rec Center.

Great place to go with your kids! My son had so much fun in the water and learned a lot in the youth beginner swimming lessons. The staff at the Y is super friendly, helpful, confident and always on time. I would recommend it to everyone in the community!
