My favorite little thrift store in the NoVa area!
I always get a warm welcome and a kind smile from the volunteers. It's fun to have different music on the radio, depending on who is volunteering that day. We always find something special.
My Mom loves it, too, when she visits. She bought me a mantel chime clock just like my grandmother's, which we found at Pennywise. And she was tickled when I sent her earrings I found there.
I appreciate that the shop will accept my donations -- whatever I have just a few items or a large box, and that the proceeds go to various charities.
Related to the negative consignment review -- the waiting list for consigning at Pennywise, which is volunteer run, is long. But it's been just as difficult to try to consign with the for-profit stores in the area. I suggest that either donating items or selling on Facebook Marketplace would be an easier choice.

I wanted to give four items for sale to this store: three sweaters and trousers. All of them were in excellent condition, brand name.
Becoming a consumer in Pennywise is not easy. First, I arrived at the store to find out about the need to register. Then I had to pay eight dollars for a one-year membership.
After that, I was sent to wait for an invitation by email. A couple of weeks later I received it and went to the store with my things - in vain. It was an invitation to set up a time, and this must be done immediately after receiving the email, otherwise someone else will take the time.
Ok, after a few more weeks I was able to make an appointment and leave my things for sale. For this, the store takes 50% of the cost.
Three months later I arrived to receive payment and pick up unsold items. They gave me a document stating that three things were sold. I had to look for the fourth item on the hangers myself, but it was not in the store. The store employee explained that someone had stolen it and IT IS MY RISK. Seriously? Then why do they charge 50%? My risk would be a garage sale.
Well, I didn’t make a fuss over five dollars and left, never to return.
If you do not want to lose your time and money, I do not recommend contacting this “service”.
PS Money for my sold items I got in a few more weeks by mail.
The owners' response clearly shows their attitude towards the client: it is my own fault that I didn't find my sweater in one small room “on some shelf.” I searched every rack and every shelf I could find, several times in fact. It simply was no longer there.
Even if the item was stolen, again the client is the fool - I signed the contract (which I never saw).
Well, if you want to be "very happy" with this attitude, welcome to Pennywise!
I absolutely agree with one thing: there really is NO SERVICE HERE.

Long wait for the dressing room. Ended up buying something I wouldn't have wanted had I had time to try it on.

For those saying the clothes are for older people, well, I'm about to donate all my young people clothes there! Lol have fun! They are mostly nice people working here, but only once they notice I'm donating. Before that, I don't get a very warm welcome. For a small business to stay strong, that stuff matters. Oh well, I know people can be kind, even if they aren't nice. I still donate.

Best thrift and used goods store in the Philadelphia area. Always there’s a hidden gem to be found. The store associates are super helpful and they have free and paid parking.

Completely obsessed with this little thrift store. Most of the prices are extremely reasonable and I have found cute shoes, clothing, glass, and plant pots. The volunteer staff are extremely welcoming and kind, they always ask how your day is going and are genuinely interested.Pennywise thrift is a small store and there isn’t much to explore, but what is here is cheap, fun, and unique. I recommend to anyone in the area that is interested in finding antique items or is just looking for a place to buy clothes.

A small thrift shop with an interesting array of items, mostly women's clothing, as is typical of thrifts, but also home accessories, toys and knick-knacks. I thought the prices wear high , but some of the goods offered are obviously upscale from the usual. The front of the shop was decorated and nicely organized, the book section felt more like a library where customers sat and chatted quietly. The back room, toys and tchochkie was pretty chaotic, poorly organized and maintained. Still, if you are a fan of exploring thrifts, come on by

My favorite thrift store of all time. All of my favorite staples in my closet were bought here. This is also an amazing place to get art for your house. The associates are always warm and make me feel welcome.

They charged me the cost of a box set for a movie that had two discs to it (widescreen and standard). I didn't want to argue, but I think they should understand that a box set isn't one movie, but rather a series.
