The Spartan Square location is fantastic place to shop. Even though I live closer to Lakeside I'd rather drive across town to shop there instead. The front end staff are so friendly and helpful. There's a decent selection in there. As a strict vegetarian, they have a good frozen section in addition to a nice produce area.
EDIT: Since leaving this review, this location has really gone downhill. So many things that I can easily get at another grocery store are constantly out of stock here. It's to the point where I know I can't get my entire shopping list done at just that Kroger. I'm always either not getting things or going to a different place to find it. I don't know what happened to this store but it went from the better one in the area to the worst one in the area.

This is my hometown store. It satisfies my family of two. Everyone could complain that the store has high meat/protein prices, but what place doesn't right now? Some complain about the number of cashiers and baggers available, but I know personally that the store has a difficult time finding people to interview, such that they have resorted to weekly open-door interview days recently. I think the staff are usually great, friendly, and professional. Managers are nearby and are usually busy doing good work, as I found myself just two days ago. I love the pharmacy team. Finally, if you have such a problem with the cashier bagging your groceries and nobody else is available, how about being a decent human and helping to bag? That way, cashiers are grateful and less stressed, lines move quicker, and you leave quicker.

I discovered this Kroger as a quick place to run in for a couple bags of ice and I’m so glad I did. I willingly pass several other krogers and competitors to shop this particular location and it’s not because of variety of products, nor prices. It is simply that I’ve never ever, ever found a grocery store with better people. Every staffer I’ve met is the most pleasant and helpful you could ever want and well with the extra distance. West Salem you are so blessed to have such wonderful folk working here.

Besides cashier following me and my husband like we were stealing oh just wonderful. Maybe next time have ur supervisor or asset protection team confront us head on about an issue. We always pay for our merchandise. Still though, it made our time in the store so uncomfortable and crowded. The employees are not customer friendly or customer satisfaction first. They do not greet , they do not assist or help when assistance was very so needed.

Awful management and very unprofessional. Wouldn’t recommend anyone getting a job here. They treat their employees like dirt and want to fire them for no reason. Will never shop here again

Even from the parking lot, employees are there to greet you! There was one young man collecting carts to push them inside the store, he had such positive energy to ask how I was doing. Inside the store, the clerks were so nice too, and even customers were greeting me, this is a place where everyone is nice!

When utilizing the online pickup , you get some of the worst produce and meats you could imagine. Today, an onion slightly larger than a golf ball and zucchini and squash smaller than my hand and along with our peppers, practically expired. This is embarrassing. The choices in store are not usually much better. We have received rancid meat (within date) multiple times as well which is completely unacceptable. Also, the bathroom in the store is also disgusting every time. How the employees can even stand to use it is beyond me. The management of this store is absolutely terrible. Your customers deserve so much better. I do like to give credit where it is due though, Tom in the meat department is the most helpful and attentive employee I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with during my visits and always makes sure customers get the best of the best!
