Very confusing experience today at Suks. I had been a few times before to get pants tailored (waist and hem) and had great experiences. I liked the results and the price seemed fair. So it was the obvious choice for where to go to get the waist slightly taken in on 3 pairs of pants (1 pair of jeans and 2 pairs of trousers).
However, before even seeing the pants that I had brought in I was told that the material would likely be too thick for their machines. She said she could hem the inseam but not take in the waist. I was a little surprised to hear that so I asked a few follow up questions and she reluctantly let me try on one of the pairs I brought in. She took 1 look from a distance and was quite dismissive, saying it's a really complicated job, that it could take months to get to, that it seems the price of $40 per pant would be too high for me, and asking me if I would have enough pants left to make it without these 3 pairs for months.
I was very confused and whenever I would ask her any questions it really felt like she was just going to say anything she could to not take this job. I'm not sure how the interaction got off in such a bad foot. My questions were genuine and in a patient, calm voice (she's the expert so I wanted to know more about her reasoning) but she seemed to get defensive and dismissive so quickly. In the end I walked out without getting any work done.
A bit sad, because I have been there and had great experiences before, and it's right down the street from me.

She hemmed my pair of Frame flare jeans and used thread to match what was already on the jeans. They don’t look like I got them hemmed, just look like the perfect pair of jeans. Only $28. I’ve had other jeans hemmed here as well. Definitely recommend this place.

Called and asked if she could take in a hockey jersey to make it slimmer fitting and the entire time I was trying to ask her this question she just continued to interrupt me with, "No, no, no, no, no, no", even when I asked if she could please hear my question before saying no? When literally all I wanted was for the hockey jersey to be brought in to hug my body as opposed to fanning out in the back lmao. What atrocious customer service.

I had my measurements taken here for a bridesmaid's dress. When the dress came in it was too large and when I returned to have it adjusted, they were surprised that the dress needed so much work. The alterations were a lot of money. I've always been curious if they intentionally made the measurements to big so they would get the alteration work. I've never returned.

Had a dress altered and they did an excellent job! It was a complicated request because I was having the shoulder pads removed, the shoulders narrowed and sort of cinched. I also added additional hooks and eyes to the neckline. The fabric is delicate with an unusual texture. The dress was new, with tags and all, so altering it meant I couldn't return. Glad I took the gamble because I love the results!I worked in a dry cleaning and alteration shop as a teen, so I know this was a complicated job and one we might have not taken. The price was also much less than I expected. I believe it was ~$36.

I took a suit here for a summer internship my freshman year of college. A friend recommended Suk’s. Was extremely nervous because the blazer and pant suit was a designer, and I didn’t want it coming out wrong. When got it back, the craftsmanship was amazing. The suit fit like a heaven—slender, not too tight and glided when I sat down and when I raised my hand. She got the suit to fit just the way I wanted it. It’s been over ten years since freshman year, and, needless to say, if I have to get something altered, I always go to Suk.Service: Alterations
