I loved exploring this beautiful unique store and plan to return. They have a dressing room for trying on clothes and it’s even open during current COVID times. You may return items that don’t work out in exchange for store credit. Many unique treasures can be found within, a good amount of which seem to be from Miller & Rhodes. However, I’m sure they’re from all over. I was most drawn to the clothes, hats, gloves, and jewelry. Picked up a couple of pieces, including the yellow flowered ring pictured here. Because I paired it with an earring set, I received $10 off the whole purchase.

This is a really cool little antique/vintage shop. The prices aren’t too bad and the selection is great. I saw a lot of unique and rare things that I haven’t seen before at other vintage shops. I would definitely recommend checking this place out

Six years ago, my boyfriend and I took a road trip through Virginia, visiting wineries and historical site. He is an introverted kind of person whereas I am full of ideas, enthusiasm and exuberance. After six hours in the car for several days in a row, we had pretty much covered all conversational options. We talked about books, movies, our families, food and all other manner of subjects. Scraping the bottom of the barrel, I informed him that I would recite all the poetry that I had memorized, starting with Civil War themed poems. I opened with "Oh Captain My Captain" (Whitman) and when I moved on to "Barbara Fritchie" (Whittier), I was in full swing. I dramatically and perhaps a bit loudly declaimed, "Shoot if you must this old grey head but spare your country's flag she said." While I was in the midst of an intense artistic moment, my understated boyfriend kept his own counsel. What was he thinking? I don't know and he didn't volunteer. When we arrived in Richmond, we drove past a vintage store on the corner of W. Cary Street. I immediately knew it held something magical for me...and it did. I purchased three Occupied Japan Asian figures painted in muted colors and having a matte finish. This type of figure is quite rare and I loved them. The store had interesting vases, jewelry, bric-a- brac, dolls, clothing etc. I vowed that I would return although the chance of that seemed unlikely since I live in NYC. However, this March, reacquainted with my old boyfriend, we took another car trip to Richmond with the goal of seeing the Edward Hopper exhibit at the museum. My other goal was to revisit Luxor. We did and amazingly, they had some more Occupied Japan Asian figures. The finish was not as extraordinary as the ones from six years ago but they were interesting and unusual. If you ever find yourself in Richmond and enjoy thrift stores, Luxor is a MUST. The staff is friendly, the vibe is happy and you just might find that obscure item that you have always longed for. I don't know. Maybe in six years I'll return.

Six years ago, (let's call him "my friend") and I were driving through Virginia, visiting wineries and historical sites...stopping in Richmond for a day or two. While my friend is a quiet, contemplative person, I am exuberant and dramatic. Being in the car for many hours for many days, we had covered most of the details of my life (not his), opinions on books we had read, meals we had eaten, movies we had seen. What was left? Oh yes. I got it into my head that I would recite all the poems that I had ever memorized, beginning with a Civil War theme. I began with Oh Captain, My Captain (Whitman) and when I got to Barbara Fritchie (Whittier), I was in full dramatic swing. I declaimed "Shoot if you must this old grey head but spare your country's flag she said!!!) Had I gone too far? Was my introverted companion overwhelmed by my dramatic zeal? He didn't say. When we arrived in Richmond, driving down W. Cary street, I saw a vintage shop filled with clothing, vases, bric-a-brac...my kind of place. I was thrilled to find three Occupied Japan figures of Asian people. They remain the best in my collection. Fast forward six years, my newly again discovered friend and I were driving to Richmond to see the Edward Hopper display at the art museum with the plan to visit Luxor. I remembered the owner who was as warm and welcoming as he was the first time we met. He even remembered what items I had purchased so long ago. Amazing! I was happy that he could offer three more Occupied Japan Asian figures. They were glazed in muted colors with a matte finish... very rare and very beautiful. What was more amazing, they matched the ones that I had bought years before. I was very happy! Overall Luxor Vintage Clothing offers all sorts of fascinating and unusual objects. Their prices are reasonable, the vibe is friendly and inviting. I just may visit again in six years!
