Great price for a great cut. We called and were able to get a same day appointment on a Saturday. The stylist did an excellent job on my daughter's hair, and she was on time and efficient. The price was very reasonable!

Just moved here and my short hair was in desperate need of a trim. A neighbor told me she goes here so I figured I'd give it a try. I was a bit nervous. Long hair can hide mistakes easier than short hair. Walked in and Candice immediately greeted me with a smile. She listened to what I wanted and gave me a beautiful haircut and blow out. So often I find hair stylists will listen and then cut too much. I'd rather get my hair cut more frequently than having to wait a week before I actually like it. Phew. Thank you Candice

This salon is under new ownership and is now called Emma Williams Hair Studio. I called them without a referral and am so happy I did! When I showed Candace photos of what I liked, she listened to what I had to say, gave me her opinion on things that may or may not work with my hair and then she proceeded to give me one of the best cuts I've ever had! Thank you Candace!

I don't know about Cassie's experience, but I have had wonderful experiences there! Granted, I've only had one stylist, but she is excellent! I will not say her name, as to not take away business from the others, but every time I give her an idea of mine, she makes it better when I see the end result. I go there all the time, and I always have a new hair color or style, and it's all thanks to this great salon. They are not rude, and I have become friends with some of them! PLEASE at least TRY this salon, because I don't think you'll ever go to another one again!

It is all about the stylist and I 5 star+ PAULA LAAG! I am soooo sorry to hear of the previous person's bad experience at BBC. I have had a great experience but I believe it is due to the hair stylist only. Her name is Paula Laag and she is AWESOME. I have followed her from a previous salon to this one and I highly recommend her to anyone. My hair was in very poor condition a year ago when I went in to see her (because I had a gift certificate at the previous salon and I got her by chance). My hair was dry and brittle due to "over" highlighting in the same areas and other issues Paula identified. Due to Paula, my hair is now in excellent condition. Paula also cut my hair. I went from "longish" to middle and to short. She did it all and I always received wonderful compliments. In addition, she highlighted my hair with two tones that were different from your "usual". Paula really listens to what you want but recommends styles and colors that look good on you. She is honest and will let you know if a style will not work with your hair texture, facial features, etc. Though I live in Martinsville and we have a weekend house at the lake, I will continue to make the one hour trip to see Paula. As far as the salon, there is nothing unique or special about the atmosphere, decor, etc. For me, it is the stylist and I will follow her to whatever salon she sets up shop. Ask for Paula Laag and you will NOT be disappointed!

Do not believe the "best of" reviews in the Laker Magazine when it comes to this salon. The owner herself told me that she and her friends kept voting so that they would be named number one. When I went in to make an appointment, it was as if I was disturbing the woman at the front desk from writing in her notebook. Turns out she is the owner. She was borderline rude when she made my appointment. I should have trusted my gut and not gone back, but I did and I have regretted it. She did not listen to what I wanted at all and did exactly the opposite. It's taken me more than a year to grow my hair out again after she cut it all very short in back. While I was there, the stylists were more interested in talking to each other and not answering the phone than doing their work. My stylist took three smoke breaks while doing my hair! I'm very sensitive when it comes to bad reviews, and hair style is a very personal thing. However, when a stylist doesn't pay one bit of attention to what you've asked for -- AND you provided pictures -- it is a place to be avoided.
