I recently had cataract surgery and totally regret it! My eyesight has not improved and now I have been told to give it time. It has been a month and the difference is my vision has worsen. My doctor took little time to explain the procedure but wasted no time scheduling an appointment for the procedure.. It took three visits for him to greet me with, "How are you?If you are looking for a compassionate doctor, you will not find it hereAs I was checking out, I inquired about rescheduling my next appointment and the lady at the desk asked a co worker to follow up on my request because she would be losing time off her break!" Seriously? Strong work ethics is not apparent on any level or position at this office!

If you need *medical* care for your eyes, there are some excellent doctors here. But if you just need glasses, go elsewhere. Here's my experience: I went for an eye exam. A technician checked my vision and updated the Rx for my eyeglasses. But when I filled the Rx, the glasses were terrible. I checked prior prescriptions in my files (I always save them). They had given me the same Rx as two years earlier. I wasted $85 on new lenses that I didn't need and couldn't use. I called Piedmont Eye Center to find out what went wrong, but it was like dealing with a federal agency. There was NO way to reach my doctor. The contact feature on their website didn't work, and when I registered in the "patient portal," that didn't work either. When I phoned them, NO one could explain why I was given an outdated Rx. This is a CENTRA problem. CENTRA creates the layers of bureaucracy that make it impossible to talk to your doctor if there's a problem with your prescription. If you need eyeglasses, go somewhere else!

Almost ten years later, I have been to Piedmont Eye Center two more times for various things, including an ectrop[ion repair by Dr. Kirzher... All the services provided were very professional and satisfactory- no change in my 5-star rating.

LASIK is a horrible, horrible surgery and I urge anyone considering it to throughly do their research (something by I truly wish I had done better myself instead of trusting Piedmont Eye Center). Dr. Bowers will not admit to any of the issues LASIK caused me, including my astigmatism in both eyes that I didn't have before. I also developed Recurrent Corneal Erosion Syndrome, Dry Eye Syndrome, and I can't wear normal contacts ever again and I am currently in the process of being fitted for very expensive Scleral Contact lenses at Duke Eye Center. Your eyes will absolutely never be the same after LASIK. There are huge communities of people that regret getting LASIK. It is absolutely not worth the risk. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on my eyes since getting surgery trying to get help for my eyes on appointments, glasses, ointments, eye masks, humidifiers, and now scleral contact lenses and all the supplies needed for those. Please do your research.

My father sees Dr. Bowers for his vision care. In January 2021, he went for his regular checkup. His prescription was changed, but yet my father still had blurry vision in his right eye. The doctor measured his eye as said it was 20/25. However, as time passed, his right eye continued to get more blurry. He called to make another appointment in early March. The doctor did a quick look and was once again my dad was told that his vision was ok, despite complaints of the excessive blurriness in that right eye. The doctor then said to come back for his regular appointment in September. In the meantime, my father's vision continued to worsen. He decided to call again and made another appointment (his 3rd) to have his eye checked. This time, Dr. Bowers told him that there was nothing else he could do for him. He recommended getting a magnifying glass and a brighter light. Throughout July and most of August, my dad's blurriness worsened. He began to complain about a blind spot in the inside of his eye. He said all summer that he just could not see out of his right eye. We (his 6 children) insisted he make another appointment. He said that his doctor had told just him to "just get a brighter light and a magnifying glass". We kept insisting until he finally relented and called again and got a late August appointment. Once Dr. Bowers saw my father, he referred him to a retinal specialist, Dr. Javey. She took one look in his right eye and said that he needed surgery right away for a detached retina or he would lose his eye sight in that eye. Apparently, his retina had been detached for sometime. The next week he was on the operating table. Dr Javey was caring and thorough. Unfortunately, at a follow up appointment, she noticed his eye had become infected. She made some calls and was able to get him an appointment with an emergency specialist at the Duke eye center that same day! She was very helpful! Currently, my dad is using his daily drops and can only see shapes. We are hoping he gets more vision out of his right eye, but I can only think about what could have been. Could this have been caught earlier with more careful eye examinations? Why didn't the doctor listen to his patient? My father knew something wasn't right...this wasn't just symptoms of the natural aging of his eye. We are encouraging him to seek another doctor, hopefully one who listens to his patients.

I was very disappointed with my visit and it seems I'm not alone after reading other reviews. I overheard a staff member refer to me as the condition I was experiencing. I let the doctor know and she half heartedly apologized and justified her reference. I blew it off, but I was hurt. Dr Ganser did not offer any explanation for what I was experiencing nor make an effort to rule anything out. She offered a temporary treatment and said the office would contact my insurance for approval "if that's what I want" and I would hear back within 2 days. We are now a week out from my appointment and I've heard nothing

The two stars are for the Receptionists and the assistances they are absolutely wonderful!!! Very kind and seem very happy to be there. However the doctors are not very thorough. I do recommend this eye center for regular check ups and nothing more. Referred by emergency room MD for eye pain that is just getting more intense and the specialist diagnosed me with "dry eyes" and gave me eye drops that I already have been using to no avail. Wasted a hour drive to come here for nothing.

Looking for an exceptional eye Doctor who is incredibly talented but way too humble to say so? Great news, your search is over. As a Bedford newcomer, I asked locals about their recommendations and followed through by seeing Dr. Gene Moss of Piedmont Eye Center. What a blessing. He and his staff were the ultimate professionals and provided me with outstanding care. Having worn glasses for over 55+ years, (now you know I'm a young pup) I was delighted when, as a component of having cataract surgery on both eyes, finished up with 20/20 for distance vision. Reading glasses are still needed but the correction process was outstanding. Dr. Moss explained in layman's terms, what was involved with the procedure and made certain all questions were addressed and any anxiety was eliminated. His staff was equally impressive and treated this patient with dignity, respect and a caring professionalism. I applaud them for the efforts and highly recommend anyone seeking eye care to connect with Dr. Moss and Piedmont Eye. Terrell H. August 2019

I was able to get in with Piedmont and to see D Bowers for my eye issue . I am super appreciative. He was very kind, listened and was helpful. I am wondering how to get rid of my below review because I am truly thankful they saw me.
