We love roadside motels and this one is fantastic! Laurie was at the desk tonight. When you look up kind in the dictionary her picture is next to the definition. Motels harken back to the days of the family road trip. Since we are on a road trip, we thought it appropriate to stay in small hotels. It was a great stay and I would highly recommend the Hillside!

Such a sweet little Mom and Pop's motel, the kind my parents might have stayed in, in the 1940s and 50s. With modern AC and a deep bathtub. The view is pastoral. Service could not have been better, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The small pool was perfect to splash around in after a day of exploring the caverns.
Nearby activities: The town of Luray is nearby, and Luray Caverns are not to be missed!

This was my second time staying at Hillside Motel. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great location with lovely views. I travelled with two teens and a dog and stayed in the room with three double beds.
We enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool after excursions to Luray Caverns or hiking in Shenandoah NP. And if you’re looking for a local and super friendly place for breakfast, go check out the Fairview Grocery store.

RUN don't walk to book this lovely motel. It lived up to the great reviews. I orginally booked 1 night but ended up staying 3!! The location was fantastic with amazing views of the mountains. The motel lived up to my Americana dream, I personally loved the chintzy decor and the older style of the rooms. It was spotlessly clean. Everyone who worked there was so friendly especially travelling on my own I felt super safe. The pool area was clean, well maintained and a great spot to cool down after a busy day. I would come back to the usa just to come stay here again that's how much I loved it!!
Rooms: Older style but spotless!
Nearby activities: Really central to local attractions ie skyline drive and luray caverns.
Safety: It felt really safe as a solo traveller.

This is a road side motel in the same style of the 70s when traveling cross-country. Don’t expect luxury or modern decor but it is cleaner than any chain hotel on the road. The Dame in the office was delightful. And the pool was spotlessly clean. Highly recommended!

We have been coming here since I was a little boy. Wonderful place with a wonderful staff. Also an incredible view of the mountains and a fantastic swimming pool.

The woman at the office was very friendly. The room was a little outdated with floral bedspreads and wood paneled walls. The wifi was constantly dropping and frustrating since my Verizon cell service was spotty as well. The bathroom floor looked to not have been touched by the cleaners. Overall I think this is an OK place to stop overnight for a cheaper rate.
Nearby activities: Luray Caverns

Room was small WiFi didn’t work disconnects in 5 minutes. There is more room on the closet than the bathroom.

Stayed a couple of days recently in Luray,VA. We stayed here and enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean and kept up altho they are dated a bit but thats no issue with all the positives with the staff being so helpful. The lady at the office in the evenings was very helpful and informative. She even brought extra pillows when we had requested them. It has a nice kept pool and is not far from attractions in the area and the Shenandoah Parkway.

We absolutely loved staying here. The room was clean I mean extremely clean Beds were comfortable and the lady at the office was super kind. Rates are extremely reasonable and it’s located within 5 minutes to Luray caverns. As well as several fast food, grocery stores and Walmart. We did not use the pool but it looked really nice. The fridge and microwave were super convenient. I would recommend it to anyone

This is a basic bare bones motel, and I love it! Only 35mins from Old Rag, it was a great staging point for adventures around shenandoah. Also 5mins from grocery stores and fast food for quick late night provisions. Very clean room! Oh and a decent view from the porch!
Not a lot of amenities, but that's ok! Bring 1s for the soda machine.
Rooms: Clean and basic

Run by a local this small but charming motel beats the hell out of a Days Inn corporate stay. If possible ask for room 1 as it offers a side porch with a great view of the mountains. The owners were very friendly and took time to give us a little history lesson of the property even though they were busy getting the pool ready for Memorial Day opening. Our room was very clean and had a tv, micro-wave and refrigerator and reasonably priced.

Actually 0 stars.
Some one else's pubic hair in the bathroom. Manky mould smell in room. Toilet didn't flush properly. Dirty old bed sheets. Noisy as hell aircon which blasted and couldn't be turned down.

Well maintained motel in Luray Virginia. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable. Landscaping was beautiful.
