I've been going to Catoctin for the last 12 years, with 3 dogs. They have been wonderful! The staff is all very knowledgeable and friendly, especially the front desk team who patiently answer questions, handle appointments, and manage the ins and outs with all the animals. The tech staff is also very good - each one has shown interest and care for all our animals. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Dr. Robbins is the absolute best and his staff are so caring and helpful. He has cared for 2 of my dogs through illnesses. I have so much gratitude for his help in diagnosing and getting the proper treatment for my dog who was very sick last year with a tick bourne illness, after having another vet drop the ball on getting an actual diagnosis. I knew even though I had moved farther away, I needed to bring her back to see Dr. Robbins. Thankfully, a year later, she's still here with us and doing extremely well. He has always been transparent with treatment options, cost, and always follows up. I am so grateful for him!

Absolutely the best vet I’ve ever been too. I felt like every single staff member cared and the overall atmosphere was uplifting (I believe that’s due to the excellent attitudes of all the employees) will never go anywhere else again.

I normally do not write reviews, but I feel that I need to write one after my experience yesterday at Catoctin. My 17-year-old dog named Lucie who suffered from several health issues was struggling to breathe yesterday afternoon. I knew it was unfortunately her time and had some reservations about bringing her to the vet to put her down, because I had always wanted to do it at home where she felt most comfortable. I called Catoctin and they told me to bring her in right away. Once I got into the clinic they brought me right into a room. They took her back to put a catheter in her leg and ensured me that she was not stressed. They handed her back to me and were able to administer the drugs while she remained laying on my lap in her bed. The whole time they explained exactly what was happening and reassured me that I was making the correct decision. After she passed the vet asked me if I wanted a hug (since I was visibly distraught and alone since my boyfriend was unable to make it home in time). They then gave me some time alone with her and when I was ready, they walked me out through the back without having to handle any of the payment that day. I am so grateful for the entire staff and for Dr. Trinidad who I believe was the vet who handled the appointment. I would also highly recommend Dr. Robbins, who was Lucie's primary vet and was always patient and helpful with my many concerns. I just wanted to thank Catoctin for making such a stressful and difficult decision easier. I will be using Catoctin for my other pets in the future.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE!!! SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING!!! First,,,,I have been using this practice for approximately 2 years. I never saw the same provider for as long as I have been using this practice. So I was concerned about continuity of care for my MiniGolden-doodle. My last wellness visit went ok, but the provider did not even look at my dogs teeth until I requested her to just check her teeth. Upon her exam we saw a cracked tooth and the result was it needs to be extracted. I asked for an estimate for extraction charges and on the estimate was a $350 charge for teeth cleaning. Being a dental hygienist for 30 years I know about tarter build up and what it looks like on teeth(human and canine). I brush her teeth daily and scale her teeth monthly!! My dog has VERY MINIMAL build up and definitely does not need a cleaning from a vet. I asked the office to remove the charge for this reason. The office asked me to come in for a consult with the surgeon who will be doing the extraction so I brought Rosey back. Dr. Robertson checked Rosey’s teeth and said they looked ok, and pointed out very small specs of tarter. She also pointed to a bit of stain on my dogs teeth and called it tarter. Clearly she doesn’t know the difference. I said it’s very minimal build up and she told me, “I WILL NOT EXTRACT YOUR DOG’S TOOTH WITHOUT CLEANING HER TEETH AT THE SAME TIME”. I told her thank you very much and left the office. Please read and believe.

This veterinary clinic has taken care of my mother-in-law's and my mother-in-law's mother's animals for a very long time. They're taking care of all of our cats and dogs as well. Everybody we encounter is very friendly.
Prices are reasonable.
Thanks

Best vet in Northern Virginia. Been taking our dogs and cat here for a few years now for normal checkups and vaccines to more concerning issues. Every time Catoctin has been amazing with our pets. I can't recommend them highly enough.

My family has used Catoctin vet for all of our family dogs. Now that I have my own dog, I fully trust this clinic. I will see any of the Doctors- they are great, caring, helpful, and I never feel like they are pushing me for things my dog doesn't need just so they can get more money out of me!

They used to be a localy owned. Since they were bought by large coperate vet group prices have gone up and new vets that run up the bill with unnessary tests. And the best vets have left the pratice. I am going to find a new local Veteriany clinic.

If I could only see 1 veterinarian and 1 lead tech for the rest of my dog's lives it would be Dr. Susan Conway and Tara the Lead Tech. I apologize for not knowing Tara's last name. Dr. Conway is so incredibly down to earth and honest, I love her. She knows a lot about breeds that are less common. She makes herself available even when she is on vacation. What vet does that?! Dr. Conway gets it. These pets are my children. Tara helped me so much when my English bulldog injured his back foot. We had to go daily for check ups. She cared for his wound thoroughly with no pain. She loves my bulldog like he is her own. She takes takes selfies with him and makes him feel so special. I want to extend a very special thank you to another vet here. His name is Dr. Brian Carsen. He helped me on one of the worst days of my life. He helped my 200+ pound English Mastiff Sherman over the rainbow bridge. He was so compassionate and smart. He thought way outside the box to make sure we were able to take Sherman to his final resting place ourselves. Dr. Carsen, thank you. And finally Dr. Robbins, thank you for telling me I needed the sonogram for Sherman. It's because of you that we found out he had cancer. Clients for life!
