The worst Pharmacy, the old man is rude and the women was also rude to me. I won’t recommend this place.

I've been in the area for a long time and this was my favorite Giant. It, like the Penrose Giant, doesn't look as nice as the brightly lit remodeled Giants which it was at one time. But this Giant is larger and has everything you need. It has a large parking lot and is in a good location with a lot of other stores around. But again, living in this area with so many grocery stores to choose from, I probably wouldn't go here if it wasn't for the excellent frozen vegetable selection Giant has. Harris Teeter sells the same ones though I think they are smaller versions. Still, it's one of the better Giants around due to its size and location.

Despite having 19 cash registers only TWO were open when I was in a rush this afternoon. Apparently Giant fired almost all of the cashiers they used to have and gone to self service. This isn't working for me and the many other Giant customers waiting in line with me today. The manager adamantly refused to open more cash registers.

Slow service. They took almost an hour to fill my prescriptions and missed filling one for antibiotics. And there were three pharmacists or pharmacy technicians.

This 5 stars is for Pam our cashier this afternoon. I'm actually not a fan of this Giant location due to always having the worst cashier experiences. But "Thank you, Pam" for being so friendly and kind. She was knowledgeable about their current sales and helped us make sure we were aware of them, which in return only made us pick up more items. This location could use more cashiers like Pam, she reminded me why I use to enjoy shopping at Giant Food stores but now unfortunately rarely shop at Giant. Keep being so sweet Pam, appreciate your warm smiles and hopefully our Commanders bring us a win today Pam.

Line at the self checkout and now they're trying to charge you for bags. Not one single regular checkout lane was open and they're crowding all the self checkout people so close during covid that I hit some guy's foot with my cart trying to leave and almost got in a fight with another guy blocking the exit. Spread the self checkout area out and give us some room. Also you're going to have to get bags that don't have to be doubled up and that the handles don't break if you want me to pay five cents each. Otherwise I'm bringing the broken handled bags back in for a refund.

The pharmacist I spoke with on the phone regarding transferring my prescription was so rude, abrupt and unwilling to help me that I cut our conversation and just angrily hung up on her.

Charles he Manager on duty tonight came through for me and did the right thing. They recently reopened the salad bars at all of their locations, and I drive all the way here for that very reason I arrived at 7:15om to find the salad bar completely empty and nothing there at all, except for the salad dressing. Sitting on top of the actual salad bar, is a sign that indicates their hours of operation 10:00am - 8pm. There inlies the issue. They shut it down early. The person who was working close to the salad bar told me that 'usually the salad bar closes at 7pm'. I then directed his attention to the sign. He semed dumbfounded and suggested that if I had a question for me to go and seek out a Manager on my own. I told him that I really didn't have a clue about who to look for, so begrudgingly he went with me. We explained the situation to Charles and Charles instructed him to go in the back and prepare the salad for me. The employee did just that, although it wasn't really prepared the way that I wanted it. I took it anyway, and the salad will serve its purpose!

Every few years, I shake my head over the management of the store. I was checking out this morning (not at the pharmacy) and the cashier asked me very pointedly if I had my Covid shot. I was a little shocked and said I am not eligible yet. Then she asked me in a very rude tone if I was registered. Under the law, this is private protected health information so they were not allowed to even ask such information and could be subject to fines for doing so. I called and spoke to a manager and he said well maybe she was "trying to make conversation." I explained to him that this was private protected information and she should not be asking anyone private medical information. The manager was clueless and really did not seem to care. And of course, there is no email where you can contact the corporate office. Several years ago, they had a male employee in the produce area who would hit on the women in the store and make unwanted personal comments. He kept making comments about my hair, following me around the produce area and kept coming up to me every minute asking if I needed help (I said no multiple times). When I reported his comments, they really seemed uninterested.

I used to think that Whole Foods was the most expensive grocery store in this area. Then I shopped at this Giant a few times. Wow. Food prices have gone up across the board at all stores because of the pandemic, but YIKES is this place overpriced. And the produce is gross. I've gone in twice in the last month to get produce for a recipe and ended up walking out empty-handed and going to a different grocery store (not another Giant). Old, mushy, moldy, and just generally unfresh produce; I have to wonder how long some of the potatoes and onions have been stashed in a back room before they brought them out to sell. And the prices!!!! Quick trips for the basics take way too long because the store layout has dairy on one side of the store and bread on the absolute opposite end of the store. Then there's checkout. You can do self-checkout, where you will encounter problems and there will be no one to assist. Or you can wait and wait and wait in the ONE regular checkout line that's open. I have been bringing my most patient game to stores since the whole COVID-19 thing, but there is no excuse to have one checkout (out of, say, 12? 15? total). Even though this is the grocery store closest to my house, I don't shop here anymore.
