You'll never come across a gym brimming with ergonomic equipment and congenial members and staff who hold amazing dialogs and interactions. The ambience is stimulating to train in. The gym smells good, too!

Extraordinary staff! The gym is really clean, with plenty of space between the machines. I would suggest putting a digital clock on the wall so folks can time what they are doing in case they don't have a watch or smartphone.

If you compare American Family Fitness to the other local gyms, I would say they are great due to the cleanliness, full bathroom/locker room, and especially aquatic services. Classes are included in your membership fee. The downside are the pricey fees and hours. I thought after COVID, the hours would return to 24 hours during the week or at least extended. This is truly a disappointment. For those working families, I know that we miss the early morning hours and late nights. The other disappointment is the staff. You get a face when entering the door. Other than that, good luck with general assistance...us novice gymers are out of luck with help with equipment or just friendly advice to operate the equipment. Remember, for us novice users, the equipment can be intimating.

Great clean facility and bathrooms. Front desk gave great customer service. Definitely try out the day pass and you won’t regret it. Great place for cross training and very taken care of equipment.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this facility since I have joined. There weights are out dated some are hard to use there jacuzzi has stayed down more than up. I have neck back and legs issues after excersing and using the sauna I need the Jacuzzi. I have gone to there other facilities like short pump, swift creek, Mechanicville, and Midlothian all of these facilities have jacuzzis with Jets colonial Heights facility so far is the only one that has pulsating Jets. These Jets don't help me . After calling corporate and being told I needed to speak to the Manager of the Facility in which I did he refuses to redirect how the Jets work. I have to drive 20 plus miles out of my way to other facilities which are actually much better than the one in colonial Heights. The Jacuzzi at colonial Heights was down almost a month not that long ago while it was down everything should have been addressed to make sure it was in working order . I called today Labor Day to make sure before I came there because I need a working Jacuzzi I was told it was up and running I get there exercise use sauna then go to use Jacuzzi the Jets don't work. The Manager that runs this facility won't accept making changes to the flow of the jet like all the other facilities have in the Richmond VA area. Plus the Jacuzzi stays down at this facility more than any of the others. Due to poor communication and maintenance. The other facilities are more updated and better taken care of. I had to give a rating of a 1 star to to this review but this facility deserves a 0.

With the amount of money that wrote pay each month the hot tub should be open and hours of operation should br extended.Fix this or you will lose more customers.

Beware.Management does not endorse surveillance cameras. Travis (the manager) admitted such on video.Good renovations so far. More needed.I would not speak with Travis unless it was on video. Please arrange such if you please.

If you're thinking of trying this place and sign up for a one day pass, better make sure a manager with the right access is there otherwise they'll charge you $20. Not really a point in a free one day trial if you have to conform your schedule to there's.

This location has always been subpar. Even with all the cosmetic improvements. The AC vents are covered in black mold and have been for as long as I can remember. There's construction going on in the whole gym and it's unsafe. Equipment all over the place. Things all over the floor in the way. Just not a good gym experience

For the name having "family" in it, its not family friendly at all. The child room isn't open all the time for the kids, if the staff see the kids having any type of loud laughing play, they will tell them to stop, the family changing room is always full with single adults. The staff will blame "for kids safety" on everything, I guess my kids will have to go back and play inside the house (watching t.v) so they can "be safe". Very American of you. Then when I ask to cancel my membership they told me I can only cancel it if I have a doctor falsely write that I am disabled.

Im sick of the old outdated equipment and short hours. All of the other gyms went back to 24hrs a long time ago. The smoothie bar and a lot of the equipment has been removed which leaves large amounts of wasted space. Now there are several machines broken leaving more wasted space. Which means a waste of my time. Time that I can't ever get back.The kids pay the regular price but aren't allowed to come in every day. I pay $86 a month. This is ridiculous. In addition, annual maintenance and upkeep fees are deducted but nothing is maintained or kept up. Where are all of the members money going? It's getting worse every month. This used to be a great gym back in 2017. Now it's starting to feel like Snap Fitness. A few friends and the staff are the only good things to look forward to at AMFAM. Working out is no longer one of them. The entire staff are always pleasant and kind. Especially, John, Pricilla, Ms. Sharon, Danyelle, Lorenzo, and the cleaning ladies just to name a few. However, that's not enough to stay and get ripped off. I know myself and others are actively in pursuit of finding a new home gym.

The gym has declined every year ...from the old equipment they had from 20 years ago until now....everyday there is a ticket on something new that can't be used.Then it takes 6months or however long for it to get repaired if it does...been a member there for 20 years and still paying monthly like I just started a contract...lol it's ridiculous. The gym has none of the perks when i joined but yet yal charging like u got brand new this or state of the art equipment....then bring us hand me down dumbells from another gym where the heavier weight u have to wait for because it's only one set lol ...my time there is slowly dwindling down like the rest of my friends there

Literally took out about half of the machines a few months ago and promised to replace them and still hasn’t. Also a lot of the remaining equipment keeps breaking and can’t be used.

In the last few months there is more and more equipment that is unavailable for use do to it being out of service. I don't feel that the equipment is up to date and that could be one the reason that it is constantly breaking down. I pay decent amount of money a month and to be unable to use certain equipment because it is out of service for weeks at a time is not good. I am really considering changing gyms if things do not approve.
