We discovered Hardwood Artisans thanks to friends who had a couple of their lovely pieces in their home. I was immediately drawn to the exceptional craftsmanship and quality. We own small narrow townhome and found the perfect HA piece of furniture that combines a desk, Murphy bed and shelving. There was a long wait for it to be made, and a couple of minor glitches during delivery and set up, but they made it right in every respect. It was worth the wait and I highly recommend based on the quality and excellent customer service.

On a Friday night, my parents and I checked out Hardwood Artisans in the Village at Shirlington. We were greeted by Larry, who gave us an overview of the business. This store features some of their popular furniture items for your bedroom, bathroom, living, kitchen, and office that are locally made in Virginia. Each piece is made to order, customizable by style and wood type. Each order takes about 16-20 weeks. If you live within a 10-20 mile radius, shipping of finished product is a flat $235 fee.

For people that appreciate fine craftsmanship and original custom made handcrafted furniture-this is the place. It is rare to find a business like this anymore and this one is thriving. We have gone to the showroom in Charlottesville Virginia and the selection and the sales staff are excellent. Custom made, hand made and made in the US and in Virginia-hard to match that. We love the place but most of all we love the wall beds.

I have bought several wonderful pieces from Hardwood Artisans. Pictured here is a coffee table and their 'Jeannie cubes' (the astonishing striped cubes to the left; they are made of scrap pieces of wood pursuant to the company's mission to minimize waste)These are among the most beautiful objects I own. The craftsmanship is astounding. Most of the items are made to order and take time, but boy is it worth the wait. This furniture ain't cheap, but this is the kind of place you go to make an investment in a piece that will last a lifetime or more.

We love their furniture and their staff. You can definitely pay more, but you will be pressed to find better quality furniture. We live in a condo and saw one of their Murphy beds in one of our neighbor's apartments. It was the perfect solution for having a large library bookcase and hideaway bed to our one bedroom place. All our guests love sleeping on the bed. Since we have added a kitchen table, dining room table, full bedroom and a stool at our entrance way. Have not had buyer's for a single piece. Really high quality furniture.

FOR SALE! Hardwood Artisans created this gorgeous solid cherry bedroom set for my son when he was 5 years old. Sadly he has grown up, but the furniture is in the same beautiful condition as the day we got it. Would very much like to sell it to an equally appreciative new owner. I had a nice conversation one afternoon recently with Mark Gatterdam, the principal designer for Hardwood Artisans. He took the time to show me how he envisions designs for furniture and builds genius and seamless bookcases that turn into beds, chairs, desks, and a variety of high quality pieces. I'm amazed by the hard work and talent at Hardwood Artisans and grateful for the products they offer our community.

Apart from the fact that they built a beautiful piece of furniture for me, they provide exemplary customer service. I was moving house, and the movers were completely unable to take apart my bed. Ricardo came after hours on a Saturday, dismantled my bed in twenty minutes, helped me move it, reassembled it, and refused payment. I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered better help than that. Thank you.

Hardwood Artisans furniture is heirloom quality, beautiful, and extremely well-made. We visited their shop in Culpeper, VA, where everything is made by hand, and then stopped in to their Arlington furniture store to browse their vast collections. They're just stunning and we're happy to say we are now the proud owners of our own Hardwood Artisans Waterfall dining table! Highly recommend this place for quality furniture!
