“I have been a member of Golds Annandale for the last 8 months. I work out 4-6 times per week. Frankly I think it is a great facility! The equipment is varied so whether you are a hard core or recreational lifter there is plenty of quality to go around and the equipment is well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful but I find the most attractive aspect of the facility is its members. I have trained with and around members both young and old and from my point of view my fellow members give the facility a very positive “vibe”. The only downside is that the piped in music that may be very much in vogue but does nothing to motivate. In spite of that single “ wrinkle” I think of Golds Annandale as my “ happy place” as corny as that sounds. Dave M. Annandale”

“We first met our Halo family a few months ago when our boys tried the Youth Strength and Conditioning class. They absolutely love it and have become so much stronger and faster. You can really tell the difference it has made in their sports performance by going twice a week and other people have noticed as well. Coach Jason is always challenging them and also making it fun, like adding in a sled that they need to push and pull or throwing a heavy medicine ball down to the ground. I can tell he puts in a lot of time and effort in designing the workouts including how the equipment is laid out in that gym area too. He changes it every day. Everything is always ran so smoothly…they move from one station to the other without wasting any time. I love that he’s always watching their form as well and tweaking where it’s needed. The other coach who helps in the class also does all that, but Jason is the main coach. ? Starting them young is so important and I am so glad we found this class for them.Working out is very important in our family which leads me into how my husband and I got hooked. We had been doing Crossfit-ish workouts in our home garage for over 10 years and that worked for us and our schedule. But when they said they offered Crossfit classes DURING the boys’ class times, we tried it and we loved it. So smart of Halo! Now we go at least 3 times a week. It’s hard not being able to go on certain days due to our schedule because the WOD looks like a really good one…major FOMO those days. The coaches are all amazing. They are motivating no matter what level you are on and are always walking around during the workout encouraging you and helping with form. The workouts are very challenging but doable because the coaches always explain different scaling options. The first few minutes of the class is when they go over the workout and demonstrate each movement. I love the video demonstrations that they show of each movement during the WOD too. My husband and I can feel that we are stronger than we were before starting at Crossfit 703 and highly recommend everyone to give it a try. The Halo/Crossfit 703 community is so inviting and you’ll never want to leave.”

“Just joined, and had a great consultation with Tony, and a personal training session with Imani. I really like this place. It feels like a community, a terrific neighborhood gym. Indeed, it’s a place where “everyone seems to know your name.””

“I have been going to the Starfit Studio Arlington since August after signing up for a trial. I like the small size of the classes, the kind but tough trainers, and the personalized attention. I also appreciate going to a woman-only studio in which the equipment and workouts are geared toward women. I have increased my strength and flexibility in a very short time! I also recommend the functional nutrition one on one coaching with Rachael.”

“Hodges Fitness is far more than what I was expecting. Before Hodges, I did not work out. Now, I am working out every single day! Hodges provides well rounded classes: HIIT, strength training and yoga. You are building yourself physically but mentally as well. The words the coaches speak to you before, during, and after motivate you to keep going. The amount of times I’ve shed tears during our affirmations at the end of class truly shows the power this community holds. I love it here…and that’s on PERIOD!”

“This place is awesome. A bit small but great staff and most importantly to me extremely clean. New machines, towel service, and usually not crowded (especially compared to other gyms in the area). If you want to avoid crowds further it’s literally open 24/7 year round, so come at off hours.”

“My daughter started going when she was 15months & she absolutely loved it. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. So much for them to do and not only do it build motor gross skills, but social skills also.”

“What a great 1st experience. I hosted a Mom Group Workout event at CrossFit and the trainers were so good at showing us the proper form to lift weights and how to lift the bars. They did a great job planning the event to help a group of Mamas get back at working out. The music was good and I highly recommend others to join their membership program.”

“I'm still new to the gym but everyone has been very friendly and supportive every time I go. Well maintained and I'm happy to have the choice of doing Peak or CrossFit workouts depending on how I'm feeling for what I want to focus on”

“While I have only visited the studio via Classpass, I have always been welcomed so warmly. The workouts are excellent - variety, challenging, clean and inviting space, instructors correcting form, etc. I took a workout this year on my birthday and they celebrated me with the sweetest gestures and multiple shoutouts. This studio truly feels like a community and I tend to be the student that runs in and out. It has made me rethink other commitments to more corporate studios I am a part of, that offer good workouts but you feel like just a number. Way to go Xtend Barre, such a gem in this neighborhood and I will most definitely be back!”

“At Foundation Fitness Gym I’ve been doing a combination of physical therapy and personal training with Maroun Yazbeck and Michaela Krsikova. I’ve found their instruction to be wise, comprehensive and life changing.Their plan for me is designed to address both strengths and weakness, and they make innovative changes in the moment. At the age of 81 after years of daily running, as well as pilates classes, I need these workouts to stay in shape mentally and physically.Foundation Fitness is a small gym which offers personal instruction to clients. Having tried many different classes and physical therapy sessions, I highly recommend this experience.”

“A great atmosphere! I’ve been coming to D1 for about 2 months now and I feel right at home. Everyone takes the time to actually get to know you and help with any fitness needs. It’s a very inviting environment and lovely place to make your fitness goals come true! When I first joined, I took the noon classes with Keith - what a fun class, however, the time did not work with my schedule. I started coming to the 6am class with Travis and let me tell you - I LOVE IT! I have found my place and my gym family. I highly recommend D1 to anyone.”

“Have really loved MVMT so far!! One of the biggest things is that every instructor greets me by name. I had gone to a gym for 6 months and had to introduce myself almost every class; it’s not like that at MVMT. Plus, the 45 mins are packed with sweaty, fun, challenging movements that keep me feeling good all day. Overall a great gym with inclusive vibes. Highly recommend, especially if new to the area.”

“Update 10 months later:Still loving this gym. The coaches, staff and members are amazing. This gym has also greatly improved and is positive vibes only.Original post: I love OTF! I've been a member of OTF since 2019. It is a motivating, fun and wonderful workout experience. All the gyms are clean, high tech and modern. You have immediate guidance on work out form, which is great when you want to bump up weights or treadmill/rower intensity safely and correctly. You can go at your own pace: slow, medium, fast... you choose, no one judges but people will definitely cheer you on regardless the pace. Currently I go to OTF Fairfax Circle and the team there is amazing. Shout out to the coaches Trisha & Jackie and head coach Michelle! They make the OTF work out experience wonderful. As Trisha would say "you can bump it up one more notch, you got this!", as Jackie would say "you can do anything for 30 seconds!" or as Michelle would say "Let's have fun and have a good work out!". And shout out to the all the front desk associates. They are all so friendly and always welcome you with a smile, willing to help you with anything.I recommend OTF to anyone who wants to see results but have fun doing so.”

“The workout of the day was Stage 4. Amazing!!! Mobility mixed with strength endurance. I wasn't sore from Stage 3 but I believe this one will let me know which muscles I have not worked regularly with a little soreness.”

“The coaches are amazing, they helped with my power lifting so much. The atmosphere at the gym is great, super positive and inclusive environment. The workouts are perfect for people who like to push themselves to their limits (not unsafe nor unhealthy). I would recommend Ballston CrossFit to any family member or friend looking to join a new gym, cannot say enough good things about my experience.”

“I have had such a good experience at Burn Boot Camp Falls Church and would recommend to any age or skill level! My personal experience - I was struggling to find time to work out postpartum and finding a gym child watch that I would trust to watch my 3-month baby. Then I joined Burn and I was able to train hard for 45 minutes while knowing my son was being cared for. I've been going 4-5 times a week for the past few months and have loved it!I highly recommend everyone to at least try it out! The trainers offer modifications for all ages, skill levels, and ability levels. Also, they always offer some form of free trial, so don't hesitate to try it out!Child Watch - There's a dedicated room with kids toys and crafts and I was able to park my stroller/bassinet in the room (so my baby could nap if needed). Child watch would help get my baby to sleep while I was working out if needed. Also, the child watch does not give bottles. At this location, you do not need to register your kid ahead of time, just drop-off your kid before class. There was typically 2-4 adults on staff to watch the kids. All the staff are great, but we loved when Melany and Alicia were working - they have been such good caretakers for my baby and are great with kids.Pricing - The gym is premium pricing - but worth every penny in my opinion. You are paying for the small group training experience, planned workouts, and high-quality childcare. The best way to get their pricing and package info is to go in-person or send an email because it's not posted on the website (since pricing varies regionally.) You can pay monthly, buy class packs for individual classes, and they offer discounts if you commit to 6-month and 12-month contracts.Location - This Burn location is beautiful! It has huge windows (I love the natural light) and the bathrooms are great (with showers!)Front Desk - I love how the front desk staff greets you by name and are super friendly. Shout-out to Keke and Mari for being so kind!”

“Coming off 2 years of convalescence and rehab from a severe injury, I had lost my core strength, basic mobility, and gained weight. In F45, I found the right fit of scaleable functional fitness, coaching, quick turn recovery, and measurable feedback I needed to regain my fitness and movement. With consistency and scaling and little victories each day across 5 months. I returned to a healthy weight, body fat % , and went from being unable to jump to doing box jumps and jump rope again. And I reversed the trends taking me down an unhealthy road. I am now able to treat my disabilities with exercise and movement that puts me at my best fitness level in 8 years.More importantly I love my community at Fairfax Circle of fun and inspiring people. Going to my F45 at Fairfax Circle workout is indeed my favorite part of everyday. Truly Life Changing for me.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a current member of this CrossFit gym, I can't emphasize enough how incredibly supportive the coaches and community are—truly a close-knit family vibe. The owners excel in maintaining open communication, ensuring all members feel heard and valued. The programming is challenging yet exceptionally effective, and I've already witnessed significant positive transformations in both my body and mindset. Highly recommend!”

“The results speak for themselves, but it's so good I still need to tell you about it. It's not cheap and we only did a month there with a Black Friday half-price special before we moved over to Alexandria, but the experience we had couldn't have been better. The coaches are so positive and motivating, as well as thorough in their pre workout demonstrations and make those small corrections in our movements that make all the difference in our results and the burnnn! They coaches have a built a solid community within the gym which can't be understated. The HIIT circuits are setup so nicely, flowing through about 10 different stations and leaving the whole body worked by the end of the class. These classes are pretty solid for building muscle but you're not going to get huge or insanely strong with this style of workout. This will be more for toning muscle/athletic build as well as gaining functionality and work capacity. It's nice that it's all based on time rather than numbers so everybody can go at their own pace. However, if you really want to push yourself as hard as possible, then I'd say this targets the heart and lungs more than anything, and health is what it's really all about. This is even true in the resistance classes, which you always leave with a serious pump. The weights you're using aren't as heavy as CrossFit which mostly allows for you to push yourself in a safer and higher paced manner and there's more variance in exercises and movements than Orange Theory without the concern of running injuries so while all of the big name HIIT enterprises have some advantages, I believe F45 is the best because it has the most well-rounded diverse stimulus mentally and physically and therefore has the most potentially for truly being "in-shape", healthy, functional, and athletic because you're more motivated to consistently train hard and allowed to do so while staying injury free.If I have to knock it I'd say that some of the exercises are more body building oriented (fly's and curls) than I'd like, but most are performance based. I will also admit, if this were my only training then I'd definitely like to have heavier weights on resistance days because those end up mostly being muscle endurance for me (which is more important than raw strength if I'm forced to choose). I'd also appreciate a little more sprinting but I know that greatly increases the injury risk so I understand the omission there. Also if there was more space, I would love to incorporate something more explosive like med ball throws. All in all though, considering the energy in there, the results you'll get from start to finish only sacrificing 45 minutes to make the rest of your day better, this place is great!”

“Ballston - Spenga is one of my favorite studios to workout. All the instructors and owner Sherry are the best instructors and you’ll never find anywhere else! “The reviews are spot on! Coaches? Amazing. Community? Legit. Supportive atmosphere? 100%. I am over 50 and trying to take my fitness seriously. I am so glad I found NDCF! The coaches and members are welcoming, supportive and helpful. My first class I had another member come up to me and give me some tips. No one prompted her, she just did it. The workouts are hard, but I have found I can do more than I thought with the coaches helping me. Looking forward to my future self.”

“The Worx it’s not just a gym for me… it’s my happy place! I’ve always been so intimidated by lifting weights and now I love it! I am taking the semi-private sessions and I am stronger than ever! I am a mom of 2 kids under 4yo and the 11am class fits perfect with my schedule and our group is THE BEST! Every single class is different, more a more challenging and fun! I am really happy I found you all!”

“I love the variety in the workouts, the fact that the coaches can support me in modifying the workout based on my physical limitations, and the fact that certain parts of the workout are controlled by me and my needs and abilities. OTF is exactly what I've always needed to be consistent and successful in my workout regimen - a class with a coach at set times during the day but the right mix of flexibility and challenge to allow me to find my pace and be successful.”
