I had rob attempt to fix my 545 bmw over the course of about a year, probably 5+ visits. They were trying to fix a “parasitic draw”, said they had to swap out solenoids to figure out which one was drawing the power. Took months and months, replaced alternator, multiple new batteries. Getting stranded in the cold every-time I went to use my car. In the end it was just the wire had worn through and was touching the frame and drawing power… apparently they couldn’t figure it out in a year of checking this thing out every 3 weeks. Just embarrassing to say you fix cars and couldn’t find such a basic and easy thing…. That’s textbook and rob and his crew couldn’t figure it out after about 9 grand.
They told me they could figure it out but it’s going to cost potentially thousands of dollars more and we could end up not finding the issue….So It had been the whole school year at this point I had given them thousands of dollars, they called me dr as a joke when I came in that’s how much money I had given them…. So the car ends up dying for good in my driveway at home, I had no money for a new car because these guys would rather take money from a 20 year old kid than actually fix an issue. My dad’s car also died and was donated, so I told him if he could fix my old bmw he could have it. He took it to a local guy in Gloucester ma who fixed it first try and some other stuff for about 600$.
If you’re thinking about getting your car fixed here. Just know it might take 6 months, thousands of dollars just to have another guy who ACTUALLY knows bmws figure it out in about 20 minutes.
Just sad set of business ethics, poor mechanics, that like to take advantage of literal college kids just because they drive a bmw. Can’t imagine how many other people he has taken advantage of.
When I called to confront him asked why he did this, he said I’m sorry for being human. A human doesn’t over charge a child on basic mechanical issues and drag it out to never end up fixing the issue. You apologize and say we’re sorry for promising to do something you didn’t do. That’s all. You just happily told me you thought you could figure it out this time. And then nope. Multiple times. Go read a book and fix Honda’s if you can’t actually fix a bmw after almost 8000$ is spent with your shop. The car cost 10k….

It’s hard to find a shop that knows how to treat cars. I always get the best service and they take great care of my cars. My new go to shop!

Called to ask a simple question after purchasing a vehicle there (with the help of a friend who does massive amounts of business with them with multiple cars) and Rob was very abrupt and rude. I have had MANY substantial problems with the car I purchased there, but didn’t want to do a negative review, but today made me feel differently. If I cannot call and ask simple questions and not get a negative attitude then I think people should be aware of it.

Newer to Vermont and needed to find a place to take my 2007 Mercedes E350. Initially took my car to the Automaster because it was close and I didn't know where else to go. After countless times of being ripped off and paying way too much money, I'm so glad I found Sterling Motorwerks. Great staff, reasonable pricing, and they break everything down to you in layman's terms. I know I can trust the work being done and don't feel like they are taking advantage of a not-so-car-savvy girl!

Could not reccomend a more honest bunch of guys. They went out of their way to make sure I wasn't doing a service that was unnecessary. I had my car towed to them from the automaster, which quoted me $5700 for a timing chain service. I decided to have my car sent out to them for a second opinion, and boy am I happy I had it sent to them! The guys were swamped with work, but got me in very quickly, and steered me in the right direction. They highly reccomend against doing the timing chain service, because it was unnecessary; knowing they couldve made a quick stack of cash off of it,they held true to their honesty. These guys really know their stuff, and will steer you in the right direction. They have gained a lifelong customer due to their honesty, and taking time out of their busy schedule, to make sure I felt comfortable driving away with the car. 5/5, scratch that, 10/5 service! Could not reccomend them more. Thank you guys for your honesty and service that you have put out for me.

Sterling Motorwerks gave me an estimate for about $1600.00 to fix my 2004 BMW 325Csi. The actual total bill was $819.81, about 50% of the estimate. Plus, another problem that was not fixed by Automaster for about $2500 or Snowfire for about $2000, was resolved as well. Saying I'm very satisfied by Sterling Motorwerks is a vast understatement!

I'm the parent of a UVM student, and the folks at Sterling have taken good care of her Audi on two occasions now. They're flexible on scheduling, helpfully responsive by email, and charge reasonable prices for quality work.

From my first interaction with this business, I was impressed with their professionalism. I called and spoke with Nicole regarding my Volkswagen with 73,000 miles that was having engine issues. The VW dealer quoted me $10-12,000 and 4-6 weeks to replace my engine and said that was the only thing possible to repair the car. That seemed unreasonable to me and I started searching for another option. Sterling Motors came highly recommended so I had my car towed from Montpelier to South Burlington in hopes that they could do something for me. I was not disappointed. Sterling Motors was able to figure out within one hour of labor that they engine was not shot and needed much less drastic repairs. They were able to fix my car for $2000 within a week. I highly recommend Sterling Motorwerks and enjoyed my experience with Nicole and Rob.

Scott and Mike have been my mechanics for literally 30 years, since my first Saturn. I have depended on them so many times over the years and they have never failed me. They are honest, fair, and do whatever they can to make sure you are getting the best options for your money. I trust them completely and have never been disappointed. They have gone over and above so many times I can't even count. Their customer service is top notch. (shoutout to Rob, too!)I highly recommend them for anything you need!Services: Electrical

Super happy I found Sterling here in Burlington. I've been driving European cars, some very old and some very new, for 25+ years, and have had many good and bad experiences with shops throughout all the years and all the cars. Sterling ranks among the top of the best of them all and honestly provides better professional service and work quality than a lot of dealerships (especially in this area.) They're really responsive, helpful, and professional. Wouldn't bring my AMG anywhere else in Burlington!Services: Tuning
