This is a bare bones restaurants with great food. Very casual, strip mall type setting. Tables and chairs like the social hall at church, but the food rocks. The place was packed on Friday night. We had Goyoza, split between 3 people. The flavor and texture of these pork filled dumplings was outstanding, with a great sauce, but they could have been served hotter. For the entree, we had Karai ramen. This is a wonderful dish. Noodles were perfectly done, and the ground pork is delightfully spicy and tender. The mushroom and egg are the perfect addition to this wonderful dish. You can't go wrong with the choice. I highly recommend the place and would love to go back.

One word. .Amazing! It's a busy place with the right price of Ramen and a very flavorful broth. It was packed when we came here but glad that we got a table as soon as we walked in. The service was excellent! Food was approximately 10-15 minutes wait and with no expectation, Ramen was incredibly tasty. I had the Curry Ramen and it did not disappoint. I only know how to eat curry with rice and this one is a whole new thing for me. It surprised me! Perfectly flavored broth, dense, and the thick noodles go very well with a generous amount of toppings(bean sprouts, mushrooms, scallions). They have a limited menu but a classic in every sense of the word. I would give them 5 stars if they had the miso egg (I think it makes the ramen dish taste better) and spices like chili oil on the table. Otherwise, it was a very good experience so I highly recommend this place.

Ramen here is delicious. I get their wings as an appetizer and I get their karai ramen. The broth is perfection and the noodles are great. One of the better ramen spots in town. However the location is kind of a nightmare and sometimes it can take a while for the restaurant to seat you. Kind of wish they took reservations. Food takes kind of long, but it's fine because it takes time and is not a fast food joint.

I kind of wanted to give 3.5 stars because I like the food, but I really don't like waiting and it was hard to find parking. This place is kind of hidden at the beginning so it was harder to find, but you will remember this place after the first time because their food is good. I have been here several times with different friends and family members. In the pictures we ordered curry ramen and Tonkotsu ramen, with KushiKatsu as the starter. The first time coming here I ordered curry ramen and it was my first time trying curry ramen, which I think was pretty new and great idea. And I fell in love with curry ramen ever since. The curry is not spicy, with the taste being strong enough and is a good match with ramen. The Tonkotsu ramen is kind of like their famous one and you wouldn't go wrong. The pork is great and the soup you can drink it with the noodle or after finishing the noodle, it is good. The portion size was pretty good as well. One time I tried to add more noodle and I couldn't finish it. One thing I don't really like is that the parking was really really limited. With the many customers going there every day, it is not like a good location for many cars. Also, the wait time is rather long. You can sign on the paper for them to call your name but the first time we waited for at least 30 mins before we were called. If your group size is bigger than 4, expected an even longer time to wait.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to eat lackluster ramen inside a cardboard box? Come to Tosh's and find out. 2 stars are given for the waitress only. She was sweet. The Vegetarian Ramen came with fried Bok Choy that infused the entire water-based broth with oil flavor. The bowl was also mostly thin, store-bought noodles. No chew. No fun to (try and) eat. Chili oil was given on the side as I needed SOME kind of taste - it was standard chili flakes soaked in olive oil. More oil for my oil-flavored ramen. 0 spice. My fiancé's Tonkatsu Ramen came with only 1/2 of an egg and even less savory ramen soul. The scoop of minced pork lent a nice hamburger touch. Overall, you can definitely make better ramen at home with a pack of Top Ramen and some miso paste.

You have to try the curry rice! The curry sauce is creamy delicious and the fried pork is crispy and tender.

Coming through SLC and Tosh's came highly recommended. Unlike other trendy ramen joints, Tosh's is in an unassuming shopping center and is what I'd describe as a no frills ramen experience. They know what they're good at, and they stick with it, which results in a relatively short menu but with likely all good options. For our visit we ordered the karai ramen and the veggie ramen. I usually like to get the tonkatsu ramen to judge a new place but was feeling the spice. The broth is nice and creamy, with a good amount of spice that isn't overpowering. Another plus is that the broth isn't too salty, many of the highly rated ramen places I've been to leave me gulping pitchers of water. Tosh's balances the flavor and saltiness just right for me. The ramen was pleasantly chewy and delivered the broth well. Personally, though, I'm not as big a fan of ground pork so I would probably go for the tonkatsu next time. The veggie ramen was good too, the broth has a strong mushroom flavor instead of just being a clear flavorless liquid. There weren't as many toppings as I'd like, though. Last thing tho.. they include this sweetly marinated mushroom in the ramen that I haven't had before. It's like really sweet, which threw me off. Sweet mushroom not for me, but it didn't detract from the rest of the dish. All in all, a solid ramen joint deserving of a recommendation. And while I didn't have to wait for a table, their sign-in sheet makes me think that's more the exception than the rule.

Tried for the first time last night. I had the vegetarian and Hubbs had the blend. Both good. The mushrooms in the veg were amazing. They don't recommend you take leftobers home to reheat so the portions are just right to finish and be quite full. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy and we actually passed it. But the service was warm and friendly. A good visit for someone looking for a warm belly.

I went to Tosh's a few times after the chef left Naked Fish (much to the downtown SLC lunch crowd's disappointment) and always liked their ramen. However, their lines were often crazy long and I was never impressed by the service. After one terrible experience from a hostess, we vowed we would not return. There was no ramen good enough to put up with terrible service. However, it seems that all of that has changed. For better or for worse, SLC has since grown in the amount of ramen options in the city, both large chain (JINYA) and smaller operations (local chain Ramen 930, Ramen House, etc.). Now that Tosh's is no longer one of two decent ramen options, their line isn't so long. And it seems that the service has improved. What hasn't changed is the quality of their product. The ramen at Tosh's remains extremely good value in comparison with other options in the city. Lush broth that isn't oily, noodles with the perfect amount of chew, and fresh toppings. It's one of our more affordable options in SLC, too. Where JINYA can be a bit of a splurge, Tosh's seems downright cheap (even if it's still higher than what can be found elsewhere). Service can be slow, but they are responsive and kind. I hope that they keep their traffic up as it's been pretty empty the last couple times we've gone in. Tosh himself has his hand in all aspects of the business, so you'll see him seat new customers from time to time as well as take some orders. You might also see him doing some bookkeeping in a corner. Let's show Tosh's some love. It's the OG for SLC ramen, and it definitely is worth trying out.

Well now, we finally come to it. After a lot of time spent putting this off and putting it off and trying - and failing - to get into the second location, as well as this one a few times, I finally managed to get into the other big ramen deal, just as ramen places are exploding. Inside, I didn't see any plastic lawn chairs and this looked more or less like a normal restaurant in a normal restaurant space, though a touch on the smallish side. It was a touch dingy, but not enough to be bothersome. Had to get the Tokyo Wings, which are basically the drum part with the meat, skin and fat pulled over the top of the joint, then fried and covered in the sauce. This was a nifty idea and those were nice once, but I don't know that I would order again. The main thing was the ramen because lots and lots of talk about this being the best ramen place in the city. For my money, it is Kobe on the Canyon Rim, but admittedly, I'd never been to this place, so there could be an accuracy question. So, as one might expect, I went with the standard, tonkotsu, so I could compare on a one to one basis. With a nod to my man Rod S., whose rating system I now borrow: Broth - B Noodles - A Egg - B- Pork - B- Additions - C+ The ramen I had at Kobe was consistently one of the better bowls of soup I've had in my life...in. my. life. This one, while good, suffered a lot from the preparation of the eggs, the cut of pork, the lack of additions and the broth itself, which, while good to very good, was nowhere near approaching the memory-making awesomeness that was Kobe, which made itself instantly into a benchmark (and is perhaps responsible for my disappointment at not finding its equal since). For me, after quite a while of fighting to try it, ultimately was probably worth the fight, but only barely. I would definitely go again, as I saw a few other flavors I'd want to take a shot at. Still, head to head, my question was answered...

Came here for lunch! And had their Karai ramen and it was so delicious, the flavors were a perfect blend and the ramen was just right. I finished the entire dish, as stuffed as I was. Cannot wait to come back and give other dishes a try. Highly recommend this place for ramen.

I love this place. It has everything I want in a place I visit frequently - consistency, quick and friendly service, awesome food. When Tosh's first opened and it was the new hotness, there would be quite a wait, especially on weekends. While there may still be an occasional wait during peak times, the last several times I've gone I've hardly had to wait more than a couple minutes to be seated. The karai is my favorite, followed by the tonkatsu - I also occasionally spring for the gyoza as an appetizer. Is there better or more inventive ramen in Tokyo or even other big cities in the US? Probably, but as far as I'm concerned, Tosh's is the real deal and I'll keep comin' back.

There are variations of Tonkotsu Ramen. Tosh's version is less on the greasy side. Char siu is flavorful. They serve the Raman hotter than the norm too! That's the way I like it. Tosh's hold their own style and I appreciate it. Chances are slim that I'd return given I'm not a resident in this city. However, if I have the opportunity to visit Salt Lake again, I'm returning for sure.

Was craving for some ramen during the day. Saw their picture and seems like a good ramen place. I ordered Curry Ramen and kimchi. Curry ramen got the ramen in the curry broth with pork cutlet on the topping. I think the broth was good, but I wasn't quite satisfied with the pork cutlet. It depends on the person but I prefer the pork cutlet to be a little thinner. And also the curry is a beef based curry. So when you eat the ramen you would taste some beef at the same time. To me that's a little too heavy. When you first enter you need to sign in and they would call your name when it's your turn. I was okay with that. I think overall the service was good. Personally I would say this is one of the ramen restaurant I would put on my list if I want to eat ramen. And I am looking forward to try more of their ramen in order to give more feedback !

okay, the first time i came here was in april 2018 & I thought it was AMAZING. the second time was in june 2018 & it was not very good, like, at all?! 1 year later & we ate here tonight & i liked it again! however, jinya beats tosh by 1000x over. sorry guys, their menu is bigger & more unique! the menu at tosh's is really small, there's like maybe 5-6 ramens to choose from total. I've tried the blend, tonkostu, & the karai. karai is the one i had tonight & my new favorite. the blend is good, the tonkostu is not so good. as for appetizers, the list is also very small. love the gyoza, but i hated the tokyo wings. tonight we arrived just before 6:00 pm, there was a crowd, but not too busy. being two people, we were seated right away. everything was super fast, we were in & out within 30 minutes. the karai is their spicy pork ramen & it was divine! definitely had some heat, but wasn't out of my range either. the pork was delicious, & the mushroom was definitely the best part of the whole bowl. my husband had the miso & added extra chashu & eggs, & that thing came out filled to the brim! he said he really liked it. the inside of the place is suuupperr plain, nothing special to look at, like at all. jinya, on the other hand, has drop dead gorgeous & fun interior, plus an open bar. tosh has no such thing. overall, the food here is pretty solid. i would come as a solo diner or with a plus one- but if you're wanting a fun night out with the crew, i highly suggest jinya!
