I absolutely loved the size of this store! It’s a book lovers dream! There is a huge variety in the selection, with a healthy smattering of old/vintage and newer books. A couple things to keep in mind, there isn’t really a consistent alphabetical system happening within each of the sections, so if you’re looking for a particular book, particularly with the older/vintage stuff, you might be looking for a while. Another thing to keep in mind, they definitely don’t have everything, which I can’t fault them for. Overall though, still a super fun experience, and I definitely plan to return!

EDIT: Thank you, Cindy for responding! Good luck with the remodel, that is very exciting news! We will stop by on our next trip to the area!I come from out of town fairly frequently to see family, and I enjoy visiting the indie bookstores to check out their LDS collections. I prefer them because they'll often have out of print, quirky, controversial, and/or academic books, unlike the LDS flagship bookstores, which usually only carry faith promoting material. Powell's may be amazing for just about everything else, but I can't get juicy scholarship on this weird culture like I can in Utah. Marissa's used to have an LDS collection that could rival Eborn or Sam Weller's, but not anymore! The vintage LDS section (read super old and should not be casually read) is still there, and there are a few books scattered amongst the Religion and Utah sections of the store, but that was it. I'm sorely disappointed. As an out of towner, I'm not entitled to have that section there when I can only visit once a year, and for all I know they cut it out because their stock didn't move enough (which is totally understandable). It looks like they were shifting things around, so maybe I was just unlucky this trip, but I may skip Marissa's from here on out when I visit. I'd love a response to get the lowdown, but otherwise I'm just really sad because I like this store.

Truly amazing bookstore something for everyone, it's huge, Lotz of art and artifacts like a giant museum. You got to check it out. The outside looks plain but the inside will take you into different worlds.

Great bookstore with a vast collection and so many different areas. All the backrooms, nooks, and corners, reminded me of wandering in the basement of Wellers Books on Main back in the day.

I love this quaint and unique little book store, they have a dedicated forgotten realms section and I come here to expand my collection. The employees are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The decorations are beautiful and awesome. This is my favorite bookstore in Utah.

Marissa's is a fantastic meeting of new and used books. And they do have an amazing collection of used books!! I think one of the best things about them is that when they look something up and you decide you would like to try and find it cheaper, they never say anything negative about that choice. That's not always the case in larger chain stores. Because of this, I tend to order more new books through them than anywhere else when the prices are comparable. I feel my business is more appreciated by the staff there than in chain stores.

A year or so back I would've said this is probably the best bookstore in the SLC area. They used to take in used books and at least give some percent off what you bought. They no longer do it, and I don't want to wait days for some appraisal on books. Last time I was there I overheard when another customer asked about any trade-in program that they only accept donations now. Meanwhile the prices have become staggering on a lot of their used books (and that's all the books, not just the "vintage" section or books they deem highly collectible). It kinda just rubs me the wrong way overhearing that most of their stuff is from donation now, and then seeing the prices as they are. I get that you need some profit to survive, but I found myself shaking my head at the price on most things I picked up. Selection varies since it's mostly used books (which is better than only new IMO). Overall I still sort of like the place, but if it's going to be full collector retail price with no chance to trade in books I'm inclined to shop online to find a lot of the same books at lower prices and in better condition. ?♂️

We happened to drive by this bookstore when they had the used books sale $1. Great place and people are very nice too. The store is pretty big inside and has lots of different kinds of books.
