I've been working with Universal Computers to get my Surface fixed. Throughput the process we have looked at different options. They have been great to work with and have provided helpful insight. I woukd highly recommend them.

I am pretty familiar and comfortable around computers I upgraded the CPU and ran into some issues called this company for quote on diagnostic and was told it could run up to $100 to just run diagnostic and take up to a 5 days before they could even get to it, so that quote didn't include repair cost or replacements the person on the phone then started listing other computer parts they would have to check out as well, and personally felt like there's a price jump because I used the words "gaming" desktop. Called a competitor, explained the same issue and quoted only $25 to do diagnostics and they could have it back to me by tomorrow. Took computer into competitors. They were able to diagnose it on the spot and quoted cost to fix which was lower than the cost to do a diagnostic by these guys and still get back to me by tomorrow.Edit: bumping up 1 star got a call back they were professional asked if they could have done anything different and offered to do diagnostic at discount relayed I already got my problem taken care of.

Dave achieved the impossible by restoring data I was sure was gone forever. This wasn't just "data," this was my whole life, data I had been (so I thought) meticulously guarding and maintaining for the past 30 years, transferred from computer to computer since the days of my 286. Not only did he find and resurrect the data, he charged me WAY less than any of the other quotes I gathered from other shops. I even had one guy quote the job in the multiple thousands, saying, "you can't put a price on your data." I can't say enough about the positivity of this encounter. It's tremendous peace of mind knowing there is somebody this competent and reasonable available to save you in a digital pinch. It's like knowing a reliable and trustworthy car mechanic that gives you good deals.

Bought a computer 6 months ago and already the SSD drive went kapoot! I was in a hurry to buy a computer and didn't do my HOMEWORK. This guy saw me coming. Several computer experts told me I paid $1k too much! Do your research and don't be in such a hurry I tell myself for the next time.

Terrible experience! I dropped my computer off to fix two things. I decided the next day that I didn't want to wait a week, so I went to pick it up. I was told they were ahead of schedule and already working on it. I was quoted over 500 to set it back to factory. Most of that was backup fees. It was a new computer and had maybe 3 files on it. He then lowered it by half when I pointed this out. I left it there, but I didn't feel I had a choice. When it was "done" a week later, it still had the same problems! He still charged me a ridiculous amount. When I complained, he told me about how many hours were spent on it. He did lower it a tiny bit, but not enough. Finally, when I dropped off my computer it had Windows 10. Now it has Windows 7! I feel like I was screwed and taken for. DO NOT GO HERE! I should have read the reviews myself. I went here because it was conveniently located.

We had an external hard drive that held our entire photo and video library and it was our ONLY copy. The drive started having issues and we brought it in for a diagnosis, only to find out that it had slowly been sustaining years of damage from overheat/overuse. Many files were inaccessible or unavailable to transfer to a different hard drive.Another computer repair place told us nothing could be done except to go through a data recovery company.At Universal computers, we talked with the manager, Dave, and he told us he would do what he could. He spend a lot of time working on it and was able to retrieve our library and transfer it onto a new drive. He did this for a much better price than the data recovery company would have charged. We are so happy to have our photos and videos!In addition, Dave went the extra mile by providing ongoing phone support when I have had questions since picking up our drive. I’ve needed help in knowing which type of drive to use as a second backup (learned our lesson on having more than one copy of something important), how to copy the library onto another device, and how to use the cloud as storage as well. He has been patient each time I’ve called and answered my questions both honestly and knowledgeable.I recommend Universal computers and wouldn’t hesitate to call them again. It was a positive experience overall, and I particularly recommend Dave for his customer service and knowledge. Thank you for helping us and saving our data!!

THEY SCAM YOU!Most of these reviews are fake to start off with.Dave has deleted my previous review where I had gone on about him trying to scam me, also another 1 star review from a guy I knew has also disappeared. I went in with a new CPU installed and didn't know I had to update my BIOS and he said my motherboard was fried with an $80 diagnostic check. He was going to charge me $300 to not change my motherboard and just update BIOS. I know this because he said he was going to install the exact same motherboard and charge me $120 when you could buy the motherboard on Amazon for $70. I went and got my computer and he made me pay $80. Dave is a scammer and this place should be avoided.

The owner, David, did a fantastic job of helping me recover my data. The pandemic had just started to affect our area and our laptop had stopped working and needed to be restored. However, I needed to recover most of the data before we could do the restore and our son needed our lap top for his virtual learning. Everything was explained and I was given a fair price. We will be going back the next time we need help with a computer and we will be recommending Universal Computers to our friends in the area.

Had a CPU/motherboard issue, and nowhere else in town had any Ryzen CPUs. This place researched my issue well, and fixed it masterfully. Great rate, with excellent phone service to boot. Would recommend this place to anybody. These people know what they're doing.

Took a laptop and computer in for repair. They used scare tactics and tried to charge me more then double what Starwood Computers charges for the same service.

Universal Computer really went out of their way to figure out my issues and uninstall Windows 7 and replace it with Windows 10. Super knowledgeable with alternatives to try and how to resolve the blocks in the way. Will go back with any issues in the future.

Paid $45 and my laptop is slightly worse than before I came in. The guy seemed disinterested in helping me from the beginning. Wouldn't have been a very good customer service experience even if my laptop worked

you would expect a local yokel ma 'n pa shop to have the best interaction but this guy was really stuck on himself, had a chip on his shoulder and was just plain rude and arrogant. You would think they would try to do the best they could since they have other big box shops breathing down their neck. I am new to the area and wanted to support the local guy, but not this one I am not going back. This guy told me one thing and then turned around and told me another. So I definitely don't trust him. The return policy is ridiculous. If I hadn't been on a time crunch I would've just walked out the door without purchasing anything and never come back. I'm not ever going back. And I'm going to make sure to tell people not to visit this place.
