The 7-day Field Expedition course outdid my expectations, and left me hungry for more. BOSS offers a neat way to unplug and reconnect. Thank you!

Doing the 28 day field course was one of the toughest and most liberating experiences of my life to date.If I ruled the world every adult would attend BOSS so they could experience true connection with people, the environment and themselves.

I took a 28-day field course in 2015. The experience expanded my worldview, deepened my connection with the outdoors, and showed me just how strong I can be. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and struck just the right balance between teaching me and letting me figure it out on my own. Yes it was hard, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I took a 28-day field course in 2014. At the time, I was living and working in NYC... BOSS was something that had lived in the back of my mind for nearly a decade. The day to day grind of the work week left me searching for deeper meaning. My BOSS course helped me find it, and served as a pivotal point in my life. The course expanded my boundaries of comfort, and helped me learn how capable I am. It offered me a rite of passage I otherwise may never have had experienced. It deepened my connection to the natural world. I'm forever grateful for my BOSS experience and it made a positive impact on every single day of my life thereafter.

BOSS is an incredible, one-of-a-kind, transformative, eye-opening, life-changing experience. No one else does quite what BOSS does.Personally, there’s likely not a day that goes by where my BOSS experiences are not in some way still echoing and affecting my approach to life. I learned about pushing beyond preconceived boundaries and limitations, new facets of joy and appreciation, how to meet challenges in new ways. I grew my confidence in myself. I experienced community on a new level. I gained a little more wisdom. I grew more humble. I learned much about gratitude. And so much more (e.g.,making fire, processing an animal, navigating wilderness).

I just completed the 28-day field course and it has transformed my very life and perspective internally and externally. BOSS has evolved and the skills I learned during this course along with my fellow students, are life saving. Our instructors, Matt, Rhys, Landon and Alyssa provided an experience which changes your views and educates you on how precious and connected we are to the land, Earth, and each other. If you are seeking a journey that will give you enlightenment and test you, and temper you, and strengthen you? This is the place to go. TRUST YOUR INSTRUCTORS AND BE AMAZED. Learn what you can do, and how powerful you are! N105 4EVER

20 years ago, Canadian army cadets took me on a desert survival trip to the BOSS school, with 9 other cadets and 10 young marines. 20 years later, this experience is one of the most significant, enriching, which gives humility, which allows us to do retrospectives, which allows us to test every unimaginable limit, such as the psychological, physical, physiological, mental limits. , emotional… name it!At the time it was Matt Graham (now known and a public figure in National Geographic and more) who was my guide.Props to the owners of BOSS for your ability to open up the minds and propel an elevation for anyone encountering the path of your survivor school! ?

This is an unsolicited review by someone who took a BOSS class many years ago. My 7-day field course was one of the best experiences of my life. It's great. If you're wondering whether you should take a class here, you should. Just do it. If you're having second thoughts because of that 1-start review, I wouldn't put much stock in it. Anyone who complains that a survival school had "contrived" challenges doesn't understand the point of survival school: it's a school! If there were no challenge, you wouldn't learn anything. If the challenges were real and not contrived, it wouldn't be survival school: it would be a real-life survival situation. I disagree with what he wrote about "self-actualization." This isn't Outward Bound. This is not the place to find yourself. It's a place to learn something useful and damn hard, and when that tiny ember turns into a cloud of white smoke in your hands, you might get a rush that feels like self-actualization. But that's not the point. The point is to learn stuff that you signed up for. By the 1-star reviewer's own admission, BOSS does this! The navigation skills taught at his navigation course were "quite good." It was the other things that he found unsatisfactory. This is kind of like saying, "this steakhouse makes a fantastic ribeye, but my roll was stale. One star."

It is not for everyone. I completed the 28 day field course in 2003 and I liked it. Yes, the instructors were different. Yes, BOSS, is unique and they do try and give a 'realistic simulation' of wilderness survival. it will be a memorable experience. If you are kind of a hippie at heart and can keep a really flexible sense of humor, you will walk away with a smile and a deeper gratitude than most people understand. I do recommend you do some homework like reading 'Into The Wild' and not have any solid expectations of what you are getting into.
