I have been coming to Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital for almost 10 years now and they have provided exceptional care for 4 of my Great Danes, 2 mini doxies, a pit mix and several cats over the years. The techs and doctors have always done an excellent job of working within my animals’ comfort level during exams. Their fear free approach to exams makes visits much less dramatic for all of my animals but especially the nervous or reactive ones. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this because with a 145lb reactive dog many places would insist on sedating him. Cibolo Canyons Vet staff goes above and beyond to help make his vet visits as relaxing and fun as possible for him. Rogue doesn’t yet LOVE the vet but he is getting much more comfortable with each visit and we are able to keep him and the staff safe. We greatly appreciate the entire staff for the care provided over the years!

First time here, the visit was and was required to book a neutering appointment. We paid $75 to hold our spot within the first 10 minutes I felt like I was being upcharged with a list of all the things they felt my puppy needed, even though he had a vet. I brought him here nervous about surgery and wanted to get him into a hospital "just in case". Immediately before answering any of my questions the tech was already providing me with $300 worth of things we "needed". I explained that I thought we were doing blood work for a wellness check for neutering. She said, very nicely "we'll get to that". I declined any other services and said I only wanted to be consulted for what we came for. A little while later the doctor came in and looked him over, she was nice and answered all my questions hurriedly but she answered and explained the neutering process. I asked how much and was told they will email me an estimate for him.
We left and hours later I received a estimate of $700+ for neutering an 11lb Shorkie (shih tzu/yorkie) . Wth! I have done at least 5 estimates all under $250 dollars with exam, so how in the hell did the come up with this price. He's being neutered not getting plastic surgery. Needless to say they got me for 200, but I won't be back again. Highway robbery‼️

Have been bringing my cats here for a decade and I highly recommend ccvh! The Veterinarian's and staff are professional and friendly, the clinic is clean and well kept and the animals are treated with love. I drive a little further just to continue having my cats cared for here. Love to all of them!

I have been to several different vet clinics over the years in the San Antonio and Austin area for my dogs, and the staff here go above and beyond! I have 2 very nervous Aussies, one of which can be a bit reactive if not handled properly. The staff here have always been so kind and patient with them. You can tell they genuinely care about your pets and love what they do.

My husband and I have owned pets for many years, so we’ve been to quite a few different offices, and this was by far our worst experience. I REALLY have to have an awful experience to even take my time to write a review.
We adopted a new dog, after our senior dog passed away at the end of 2022. We spent a long time between deciding to get a dog to when we actually landed on the perfect dog for us.
We brought him to Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital for his first visit to have him cleared before we began to slowly allow him time with the cats. He was doing okay, and remained quiet and calm throughout the check in process. There were dogs in the waiting room a couple times and he never barked at them or whined, sat there by our feet. One of the owners let their dog close to him and all they did was sniff each other, both very calm, no barking or whining. Everything was going well, and when the first tech came, he quietly followed us over to the weight machine and he was weighed, still calm, still nothing.
We got to the room and he was still fine, the tech asked questions about medical history, all was good. The tech then went to listen to his breathing and heart with a stethoscope, and approach him quickly and he backed away and let out a - what sounded like a scared - little growl. No barking yet, and after she put the stethoscope away, he went back to sitting there quietly. There was no other attempt made to slowly reintroduce the stethoscope, allowing him time to smell and see that it wasn’t some attempt to hurt him. We do that at home with him to introduce him to new things. After she left, we waited and I went on my phone to read notifications. As I was looking down I heard the door LOUDLY and quickly slam open and I snapped up startled. And immediately standing there were 4 women all bunched up at the door like a horror movie jump scare. And for the first time, we saw our dog get scared and started to bark. My husband had our dog and he was able to quickly get him to stop barking and he just stood between his legs the remainder of the visit. Because of the barking at first, the vet only had one tech stay in the room. And then proceeded to spend the entire 5/10 min visit loudly scolding us about needing to nuzzle him and how he’s an “aggressive” dog. All the while, he sat at my husband’s feet quietly. Didn’t check breathing, heart, or even bother to try to check temperature either. They assumed he was “aggressive”, so they didn’t even get near - without ever thinking twice on how THEY were approaching us and him. Yet we were still expected to pay for a full exam and fecal testing. Even if absolutely nothing other than weight and fecal was checked. Overall the visit cost nearly 200 dollars for basically just him getting weighed and us getting scolded.
This was the first and only time we saw him get even remotely riled up and it was probably the scary ladies slamming the door open and walking into the room yelling. To my husband and I , they were aggressors, and have no idea how to approach a new (potentially scared) dog or patients.
If he was an aggressive dog as the picture they tried to paint, we never would have adopted him to begin with. He would have been a danger to our cats, if that were the case. To this day, over a month has passed he has been and continues to be extremely calm and quiet with us and other people/ animals in the neighborhood during our daily walks. He’s fully incorporated with the cats and there have been ZERO incidents with them or anyone else, he continues to be gentle.
Needless to say, I quickly canceled the appts I had previously set up to get my cats started in this vet office. It is very clear they don’t know what they are doing or saying, and are charging way too much for awful half-check ups. I recently took both my cats to the previous vet office we went to, and they were excellent and gentle and kind, that’s where we’ll be taking him from now on too, even if it’s a longer drive away.

CCVH is the best veterinarian service in San Antonio. I have visited others, but none can compare. The entire staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. The DVMs are excellent, and provide expert advice. They provide several options from which to decide, allowing you to have an active role in your pet's treatment. The rates for service are reasonable, and with five cats and two dogs, this is important to me. If you are looking for fantastic veterinarians to take care of your fur-babies, look no further. A++ Highly recommend.

We have used the Veterinarians at Cibolo Canyons for more than five years. We couldn't be happier with the service we have received for our two cats and three dogs. The doctors provide excellent care, and work to resolve any and all health issues. The doctors and the staff are extremely caring, and show a level of concern for my pets that I have not received at other vet clinics. I would highly recommend Cibolo Canyons Vet to anyone seeking thorough and SAFE health care for their fur babies.
