The truth is, it is very expensive, and I don't understand why?If they give everything away!!They should give it cheap,There are people who go there, because we don't have the means to buy new clothes, but, unfortunately they are very expensive!!

I'd never thought this about (This) Salvation Army I took some Retired US Flags and Texas Flags to be properly taken care of and this worker said with all do respect will just throw them away I was upset so I took them to American Legion and it was placed for proper care. No respect for our country but everyone wants to be here

What has happened to the Salvation Army? I used to love the stores & the people who staffed them- as evidenced by the fact that 75% of my furniture is from my old neighborhood Salvation Army Store. Depressing! I stopped by to donate @ 3:45 PM last Wednesday. The woman in the office, while sitting at a glass-shielded reception desk, confirmed there were no donations received after 4 PM. So, it looked like I had 15 minutes, just enough time to unload my packed full vehicle. Because I am preparing for a long-distance move, I was donating sale-able, valuable household items & high quality clothing & scrubs (all in excellent condition). I asked the woman in the office if there was help available for unloading. The woman told me, in a cold, mocking manner, that there was no help & I'd have to do it myself- as if to state, "too bad, too sad". Really un-Christ-like unkindness. There was no offer from her to lift a finger to help or find someone else who could help. Ugly. Not judging, but couldn't help noting the irony & hypocrisy. So I got back in my vehicle & drove down the street to the Goodwill donation site @29th & Pecan, where a woman expeditiously received my huge donation & cheerfully helped me transfer it from my car to the the building. There could not have been more of a contrast: inhumane vs humane. I'll take humane any day.

It's not really Salvation Army anymore. I went there because I can't afford too much any more but this place has gone up higher in pricing the used merchandise. They should lower their ridiculous prices or the store is not Salvation Army.

The way they pushed a strip of paper across the reception desk with the back of their pen and told me to call Monday after having waited the hour which they instructed me to do, told me everything I needed to know about their policies. Just needed to do an interview about nonprofit Organizations.

This place is only to make money and not help out the homeless. They’re never opened and alot of their funds are always costing a kidney to get approved. Can’t even get a shelter as they close before business hours. Place should shut down

They sell used up shoes falling apart for retail and sometimes above retail price. They are so money hungry they're even selling the free boxes you get at the post office (which is a federal crime) see for yourself.

Love to thrift here, on Wednesday everything is 1/2 off on clothing, pretty cool, some reviews say is expensive, it's about helping, not donating cents. Like how they renovated the building, and how clean and organize is. Never been to the other side, but they do help many people and that is pretty amazing.

Omg I've been to several resale shops in Texas some for profit some as non profit but this Salvation army in McAllen Texas is expensive the clothes the shirts the furniture by far was heavily priced I understand they do many things good for the community but darn at those prices I won't be back to pricey for ppl on fixed income or lower income .

Serving the Hidalgo County during Coronavirus and helping those in shelter with each individual facing difficult challenges in their life is not an easy task for The Salvation Army. But if the staff keep strong and work and Glorify God then the mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and help strengthen communities who connect with the Church.

I'm staying at the shelter now. In my mind I thought the Salvation Army was a place for drunks...drug users and bums. Boy was I wrong. This place is cleaner than a hospital. When I checked in they did a background check drug test and breathalyzer test on me. The staff is wonderful and very professional. They have hot showers. You can wash your clothes. They even wash bed linens every day. With 3 meals a day you don't go hungry. The food is delicious. Thanks Salvation Army for taking care of me in my time of need. If I could I would give them a 10 star rating.

There's supposed to be funds in place for rental assistance, but as soon as it comes time to ask if there is ,I'm told that there not taking applications at the moment . The greed is typical so many people donate money for the homeless and needy not to steal for yourselves ... Like I've donated clothes even when I had to spare and to find out there being sold to people in need like where's all the money at ...... It's specifically for the veterans and needy .
