I took a ring in for repair. The lady was nice. The price they quoted seemed fair. I was told 3 weeks for the repair. I waited almost 4 weeks and when I went in I was told it wasn't ready and they were just getting to those ticket numbers. No communication. Very poor customer service. Very lazy. There are other jewelry repair places that deserve the work more.

Recently, a Harry Winston ring was taken into Lastovica for an updated appraisal. When the appraisal came back, Alfred Lastovia Jr had appraised the center stone as a 1.50ct H-color VS2-clarity cushion. The problem? It was a GIA certified 2.12ct F-color VS1-clarity cushion. He was so astronomically off on every single facet of his job, he ended up under-appraising the ring by well over 60%. And had the ring not been subsequently taken to an independent Master Diamond Grader for confirmation, that error would have resulted in a loss in the $12,000 - $15,000 range in the event of a future insurance claim due to being so significantly under-insured. Typing up pretty appraisals is only 1% of the job. Getting the appraisal details & value right is the other 99%. Look elsewhere if accuracy and having proper insurance coverage are important to you.

This is the only jewelry appraiser in the Houston area that I recommend. He is accredited through the GIA and has been a trusted appraiser for many years.
