My business associate attempted to check-in to this hotel on 3/11/24 and had a terrible experience with the guest service manager- Ines. My company does a lot of work for government agencies around the country and have stayed at several Holiday Inn Express & Suites and never experienced the amount of disrespect and unprofessionalism we did from this hotel. I will be contacting the corporate office to make them aware of who they have representing their brand. She is awful and needs to be reassigned. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

I was in town for a convention. I stay in many Holiday Inn hotels as I travel for business. The location of the hotel was decent, but not the best area. The hotel itself is a dump especially for $200 plus a night. You would think someone at corporate would be assessing existing hotels that needs upgrading. The staff was friendly but I will not stay here again. In fact, I will be switching to the Marriott going forward.

Rooms: The rooms are terribly humid and smelled awful on arrival.

Location is great. Walking distance to convention center. Free parking a nice feature in a downtown hotel. Very friendly staff doing their best with a property that should have been renovated a few yrs ago or lost its HIE affiliation. Like other commenters have said the whole place is tired. Rooms, especially bathrooms are rough. Pool was warm on day 1, cool on day 2. Ran out of hot water on day 2 in shower. Worked great for the convention I attended but for $300 a night I was hoping for better in terms of accommodations. Edit: noise from the night club a block away is terribly distractive on weekend nights. It’s 2:30 am and I can’t sleep due to it. This isn’t the hotels fault, but be aware if you get a room on the back side of the hotel.

This hotel is just tired. I believe the staff are trying their best but they just don’t have a great product to work with. Everyone was kind and helpful, though. My first room smelled awful. Nothing was offered when I first reported this but they did offer me another room the next day. And it didn’t smell at all! I was there 5 nights and no two were the same. Some showers I had piping hot water available and some I had barely lukewarm water available. One night the hot tub worked (although still not very hot) and the next night it was stark cold. One day I got full housekeeping service and the next day they just took the dirty towels off the floor. One day the juice machine is out of order and the next day it’s fixed. The couches sag. The TVs are tiny. The tile is chipped. The tub is mildewed at the edge. Once I got moved to a room that didn’t smell, there was nothing so significant that made it worth leaving or reporting a list of complaints, but it’s definitely not somewhere I’d look to stay again. The location, though, is really great if you’re attending something at the convention center.Walkability: It’s hard to tell from Google maps, but you can easily walk to the George R Brown Convention Center from the hotel. It’s only 3-4 blocks to Hall E (and you can enter at Hall E even if you’re headed to one of the other halls).

DO NOT book this place. The smell of raw sewage, mold, and urine was intolerable. Checked out early due to tasting the rancid smell. When we went to leave through the rear exit, the access door was not secure. There are a lot of homeless people in the area. Very disappointing ?.

They say the place is under construction, but really it’s falling apart. The room and bed was okay, the bathroom was falling apart. Tiles on the floor popping up, the shower when I turned the water on was leaking water from all the cracks around the shower. The whole place is extremely outdated, and for me takes 1st place for the worst holiday inn I have been too. Every day I came back from my work, something was wrong, my key cards didn’t work every time I came back. And somehow half way through my trip they checked me out of my room early so I had to re register for my room. It was just a messWalkability: It is close to convention center

This place was alright. Had to come for a quick trip before going to another hotel. Ok experience. Lobby was small and old but so is the rest of the hotel. Good service checking in. It was a January night and it hailed so no pool. No covering for parking. Had to leave quickly in the morning so couldn’t try breakfast. The shower was so hot it nearly burned me. Limited TV. Location is good. Little parking.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Absolutely terrible experience. We chose this location because of the pictures of the indoor hot tub. But in person the water is cloudy and looks unclean. The elevator barely worked. The hotel room smelled of sewage or mildew. It was so awful we checked in at midnight and checked right back out. This was by far the WORST hotel experience I’ve ever had and definitely makes me look at holiday inn differently as a franchise.Rooms: DISGUSTING SMELL! Sewage or something.

This was a terrible experience. I booked a 2 queen suite, but they claimed they over booked and only had a 1 bed king room with a roll away bed. Bait and switch. The manager had his poor worker tell me this while he hid in his office on the phone. And when we asked for a blanket for the roll away, they were out of blankets, too!!!! The halls on the 3rd floor reeked of sewage. Like you wanted to plug your nose, but the stench was so disgusting that you didn't want it in your mouth. The indoor pool and hot tub were disgusting and cloudy. On the breakfast buffet, we had to point out to the staff that there were moldy bagels. What is going on with this place?! Glad we only had to stay the one night. Do not stay here.

The only negative I would mention is the awful smell in the elevator. The rooms though were just fine and I couldn't beat the location and the price.Walkability: Very walkable
