If I could give 0 stars I would Terrible experience with company after they acquired my CPA firm Mike Manoloff in Houston. All was fine for 20 plus years with Mike. After the take over my corporate return was almost late and my personal return was late for the first time in history. Phone calls were not returned in a timely manner FORGET ABOUT personal service. I felt like a number instead of a client.

I have had an absolutely awful experience with this company. My first year with them under David Tucker (the original owner) was great so I went to them again to do my 2021 taxes, that was in March of 2022. Here we are in August of 2023 and they still haven't finished my returns for 2021. I've been handed off to 3 different people and constantly have to follow up to see what's going on. Just when it seemed like my taxes might finally get worked on after providing everything they requested they're now trying to add fees to their services that were never mentioned before and seems quite ridiculous to do when you haven't been able to complete a tax return for a returning client after 1.5yrs. I've used accountants for 10yrs and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had.

I have used this company's service for over seven years and they have always done excellent job with my tax preparation needs. Mr. Don Peterson has treated me like a VIP or commercial client even though they only support my individual tax needs. If I have any questions concerning fees or the preparation of my returns, Mr.Peterson would personally see me on the spot and without hesitation. It is rare to have this type of treatment when a company has thousands of clients.

Worst place to take your service to. Have used them 3 years in a row and every year there's issues. And you have to pay extra for the mistakes they make and don't follow through with filing. Employees don't last very long there so when you communicate it's always blamed on whoever left that didn't do their job. Crappy communication at following up with you. If they even follow up... you have to hound them.

This company is absolutely horrible. The communication is only good when they are taking your money. Please save yourself a lot of frustration and find a local CPA so you can be face to face with them. I hadn't filed taxes in 8years and was worried/embarrassed so I hired them. All they did was take over $60,000.00 from me over 6 years. Once you start with them they charge you an astronomical price with very little results.

I want to share my experience with a **** Ramsey ELP Burkhart Peterson. It was, unfortunately, less than stellar. Our family moved to San Antonio in 2018, and we needed to find a new accountant to prepare our taxes. I searched the ELP directory on the **** Ramsey website, and Burkhart Peterson came up as a recommendation. I explained to Mr. Don that we were a basic two-income family with two young children. We have W-2s, and we pay for daycare. That's about the extent of our family situation. Mr. Don explained to me that the forms were automated and a price of $35 each, but he did give me the impression it would be around the base price. I did a lot of work myself to provide as much complete information as I possibly could. I did not just hand over a shoebox stuffed with receipts. Their client portal was not user-friendly at all. I even spent time watching the online video tutorial, and some of the functionality was not even enabled on the Burkhart Peterson interface. I was under the impression that Don would be handling our tax return, but it ended up being a different individual in the firm, Sam *****, whom I had never talked to or met. I had to explain our background all over again to him. Don never even called or emailed to let me know as a courtesy that Sam ***** was fully capable and would be helping out with our return. I was in complete shock when I received the invoice for the preparation of our return. At $600, the total ended up being nearly 35% of our entire amount owed to the IRS. Based on our initial conversation and upon reviewing our information, I would think Mr. Don could have at the very least called me and explain the preparation fee would be significantly higher. When we received our return, there were FIFTEEN forms listed on the summary fee page. In looking at each of the forms, many had maybe one or two fields. One form in particular that I took offense was the FORM 8867 PAID PREPARER'S DUE DILIGENCE CHECKLIST. We were charged the $35 fee for this form, and the questions are for the PAID PREPARER. I don't understand why WE had to pay for that form to be completed. I do want to share that Mr. Don ******** did extend a $100 discount after I shared my grievances with him.. I did appreciate his courtesy, but I was overall unhappy with my experience and will not use the services of Burkhart Peterson in the future. As a new customer, I feel there should have been more courtesies extended. In addition to my dissatisfaction with the cost model, the firm's automation process seems detrimental to the customer experience based on my experience. Most of the time, I was left wondering the status of my return and had to follow up. Also, no one took the time to walk me through my return and discuss the return amount due and due date. Their return stated October 15 as the due date, but I received notice from the IRS of payment due in June.... Read More
