I’m in tears. This is absolutely unacceptable. I recently booked my dog for a 2 week stay while I was away for a work trip. I pre-packaged all of his food into little baggies and told the staff at the front desk when I dropped him off that he needed one baggie for breakfast and one for dinner. This was different than what I had filled out on his online profile when I originally registered him. I explained that he was on a preventative antibiotic prescribed by his vet that I had split up and placed in his food, and this is why he needed to be fed twice a day instead of once. I was assured that this was no problem at all and that his feeding schedule would be updated. When I came to pick him up today, I was handed back HALF of the food I had packed for his stay (see photo). He clearly had only been fed a half-portion of his food for his entire stay, meaning he missed half of his antibiotic regimen as well. My dog also appeared like he had lost a NOTICEABLE amount of weight — I’m talking 1-2 pounds of weight-loss for a 30 pound dog over a 2 week period.
Prior to this stay, I was already having issues with none of the staff knowing how to operate their office management computer system. I booked 3 prior stays with them and the bill was never ready when I came to pick my dog up. I would have to call 3, 4, even 5 times to pay my outstanding balance because none of the staff knew how to generate an invoice in the computer system. Once when I called, they didn’t even have record that my dog had stayed with them that week. It’s very stressful as a client to have an outstanding bill and have to call over and over repeatedly trying to take care of your balance.
This business is not being managed well, and the consequence of that is that my poor dog was underfed and missed his antibiotics for 2 weeks. I hope management sees this and is inspired by this negative review to make some serious changes before something more serious happens.
Update: I appreciated the owner’s response and the fact that she made it right by crediting my account for my stay so I am updating my review. Things happen and ultimately my dog is okay. I appreciate the accountability!

We have been coming to Smart Dog since May 2024 and it's been such a blessing. Everyone there is so kind and always so happy to see you and your dog. My puppy Otis is always excited to jump out of the car to run inside and at pick-up he always has a dopey smile and ready for a long nap. Sometimes you even get a fun story about your dog's day which is always nice.
I'm so grateful for everyone at Smart Dog. Thank you for taking care of my puppy so well and for allowing me to work from home in peace.

We were so glad to find Smart Dog Dallas. Our puppy Daisy really needed to have a chance to play with lots of other dogs and get herself tired out . Mission accomplished! She comes home happy but exhausted. I have found every staff person I have dealt with to be very friendly and they all know the dogs well and welcome them warmly. I also find their website (online booking) to be very convenient. And we have used their "limo service" on occasion and that is a wonderful feature. We are fans!

We've been a longtime customer, but I'm disappointed and concerned with the business practices. Our lab recently stayed 7 nights at $47 a night, no extras and he was picked up in the morning on time. I trusted them to charge my card on file. I was never sent a receipt and only happened to see I was overcharged on my CC statement. More than 23% OVERCHARGED. Spoke with the receptionist and found out they charged an extra night (8) PLUS a full day of daycare. That's $77 for no reason. At best this is sloppiness, at worst, theft. I don't know how two mistakes could be made on one stay and no one tried to correct it. I expressed my concern and was assured the owner would call me back but a few days later that still hasn't happened, nor has the overcharge been refunded. That's my biggest disappointment to be honest. I'm wondering how many times this has happened and people just didn't catch it.

This place was a Godsend! I have a very active and temperamental husky mix and they were for sure up for the challenge! My babygirl is a "hoodlum" and they protected and took such great care of her. My big boy is a gentle giant, so 1 knew he would do well! Angela, Laura and the entire staff at Smart Dog Dallas did an amazing job! I hope Lola didn't scare them too much, because this place is now my go to!! Thank you all for doing such an great job!!

Amazing experience with Smart Dog Grooming - Val took such sweet care of my pup who we have tried numerous groomers and have not been satisfied! Definitely recommend trying them out for your next groom!

Great place and staff. I feel very comfortable boarding my dogs there. We have been boarding two dogs for many years and they always come back happy and tired from so much play.

This place was a LIFE SAVER for my pooch! I called them to see if they could give my dog a haircut and bath the same day. The groomer made my dog look EXACTLY how I imagined her to look. ?????
I’m so thankful to their team for being kind and helpful. Lyric (my pooch) from Pampered Pooch Events will be back!
