The floors in this place are old and filthy, and the whole places smells a little bit like a combination of old sweat, old cigarette smoke, and mildew. There are mannequins in one room dressed in used underwear that is so old, you can see that the elastic is worn out. Everything we saw was absolute trash, from broken and dusty coffee makers to old phones and cords. We weren't going to leave when the man who owns it wanted us to look at a coffee table. We weren't looking for one, and wouldn't have bought this one if it was $10, but he wanted $80 for it. It was a cheap 90's coffee table in bad shape.

Great finds but they are over priced to be a thrift store. The purpose of going to a thrift is for bargains!

Imagine stepping into a hoarder's house. Imagine that this particular homeowner is extremely OCD and has written notes on EVERYTHING inside the house. Imagine that the owner is super friendly and wants to give you a tour. This is Summer Outlet. This thrift store is a run-down, converted house completely packed, ceiling to floor, with goods. Some of these goods are actually pretty sweet- some are... things I wouldn't even bother trying to sell... but hey, to each his own. The prices totally vary, some things are a steal, and some seem like a joke. I feel like you could probably haggle the joke prices down a little bit. If you're in the mood to *really* dig, you might just find an awesome vintage dress, some well-loved boots, or a lamp that may or may not need re-wiring, but you've gotta be prepared to spend some time searching.

Looked and found glass lid, marked $.1.98 went to pay and told that was not the right price. He told me the price was $2.98 instead with an attitude, wanted to know if I could afford it. Left without buying anything and will not every go back!!!!!!

Why does the strip along Summer Ave in Memphis TN offer some of the best thrifting in the country? Here's Why: *The inventory assortments are unique and not picked over. They seem to pull from many neighboring states. You'll find old Mardi Gras souvenirs from Louisiana or an Arkansas relic. *The stores are giant and filled, some to an uncomfortable maximum but others just plentiful and sorted well. *There's plenty of help on hand, sorting and stocking constantly. *The shop keepers really care and you'll find creative and fun displays. Such as "Be mysterious, be xoctic [sic] be at my house at 8pm" for the evening dress department. The vintage handbag I purchased (with name "Maggie" etched on handle) had "really cool" written on the price tag where it still remains. *Lastly the prices are almost criminal. Vintage hand bag for $3, two t shirts for $3.20. The stores support great Southern causes such as veterans or farmers. A must when in Memphis!
