I stayed at the Alex Johnson for about a month and experienced consistent excellence throughout my entire stay. My room was kept spotless during my whole trip, and when I had an issue with my room, the front desk resolved the problem as soon as I brought it up.Two employees I want to give shoutouts to are Novalee and Patrick. Novalee had great recommendations for tourist spots to visit and restaurants to try around town. Patrick was able to help be resolved billing/room issues promptly and had fantastic recommendations as well.I would strongly recommend staying for sure!Walkability: Walkable to maybe great bars and restaurants near by.

Dirty. Old. Outdated. Eric, the manager wearing the suit that is to big for him is unprofessional, and does not know how to work customer service. Save your money , motel 6 offers the same quality.

The best hotel with lots of history, great restaurants, great service! I would definitely come back! It's the gateway to Mount Rushmore! Rooms were spotless and clean! Everone from the valet to the front desk; the restaurant staff and servers to the maids; basically, everyone did an excellent job! I'm coming back for sure!

Older rooms, but comfy beds and pillows. Shower, no tub, fridge/microwave. Staff is great! Restaurant/bar on first floor has trivia night. Top floor, more fancy. No pool/hot tub, but a great experience. Said haunted room from a lost love is fun to learn about. Be sure to ask the front desk about it. Nothing to be scared of at all. People are so kind and great in this city! The Firehouse is a local spot to visit for food.

Beautiful hotel! I often times visit Rapid for business, and this hotel makes it worth my time. Patrick is beyond kind and I always appreciate his warm customer service. The rooftop bar is relaxing after a long day, and it’s close to my place of business. Thank you everyone for making my stays away from home more enjoyable.

Certainly the most historic and unique place to stay in Rapid City! Near just about everything you could want, the Hotel Alex Johnson is perfectly situated in downtown Rapid City. The staff is friendly, helpful, kind and recommends the best tour companies during your stay. On top of it all, literally, is Juniper Restaurant. One of my favorite authentic, fresh and thoughtfully made eateries in all the Black Hills.

I was surprised on how much I enjoyed my overnight stay. And Sue, the bar/restaurant manager, was just awesome! Everything was super great everwhere.Walkability: Take advantage of the valet, as from here you can walk to anywhere you need to be.Food & drinks: The breakfast burrito was big enough for both of us! So Good!
