We thought this place was fantastic. As other reviews mention, don’t expect any “service”. You let yourself in (ha, ha - pun) and out. And we had no issues with either. The common rooms are nicely done, there is a full kitchen along with a sizable dining table and a separate living/tv room. We were the only ones there this trip, but I think it would be pretty pleasant to share with others. There were various snacks and breakfast items. My private room was very nice/ pretty large and bright. King sized bed was comfortable. The bathroom was tight but certainly functional. The pool is small but it was clean and a nice bonus. The front porch had several rockers and a daybed for hanging in the evening. Most important, the place just had a good feel to it. I dug it. I felt relaxed and comfortable. And that’s not always easy to find.Goodbye Greenville! From now on, Swamp Rabbit Inn will be at the top of our list when we visit Furman .

Our friend group of cyclists rented the Main House. When we arrived we found the refrigerator, freezer and pantry contained opened and partially used food items. The kitchen had an ant problem that is in need of extermination services. The outdoor common area was filthy. The pool, chair cushions and gazebo were unusable. The pool had not been cleaned, the cushions were moldy and the gazebo inside was full of dirt, pollen and large spider webs. One woman in our party could of had a serious accident when she stepped up onto the deck in front of the structure and her foot went right through the rotted decking.I texted the owner 2 times to report these things and there was no apology or attempt made to rectify any issue. It was clearly evident the property has been neglected and customers are ignored.Rooms: There are lots of little things in the rooms that also need attention such as plumbing knobs falling off, overhead lights that don’t work.

So much has changed in TR. We absolutely loved the location. Ride or walk the trail and access to great food and drinks in less than 200 yards from our room. The Swamp Rabbit Inn was perfect for us. So comfortable and welcoming.

We had a very negative experience with the service that is offered by people who own or run this place. Unfortunately, it was a colder evening when we arrived, the AC was full blast in the Studio unit and we could not get the heat going. The person who contacted me from the property was not able to help us via text as the heating would just not come on.. so the same person suggested a refund and for us to go to a near hotel which apparently was not full. We did exactly that and got ourselves a room with heating. 2 days later, I contacted them for my refund. No luck. Since Nov 3rd, I am trying to get my refund. They do not respond to my inquires or those from the Expedia l, where I booked it through. The back studio unit looked great. But I can not say the same about the poor service.

Quaint local place with a combination of a large, central, multi room house and several outbuildings. We stayed in the coach house, which was well appointed and fun. Well located and within easy walking distance of downtown Travelers Rest. It costs the about same as the big hotels in the area and is much more unique, so why would you stay elsewhere.

It was OK. The location is great if you want to go downtown Travelers Rest or bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I did not care for the absentee host. It is advertised as a B & B but the second B was only prepackaged snack food. Would have preferred a host cooking a meal. Pool needed a cleaning to fish out the leaf litter. Gazebo was an absolute mess. Room and bath were clean but I am not a fan of tempurpedic beds. They always make me hot. The available bikes were in a state of disrepair. Glad we brought our own.

Poor customer service, was treated rudely prior to our stay. The AC did not work (97 degrees outside). We had to open windows and the front porch area had multiple wasps nests with swarms of wasps outside and several inside. Did not seem well maintained, rather neglected. The location was great, however the overall experience was bad. I would not stay here again.

the toilet was supposed to be fixed during our stay but was not done. We were greeted by a woman then she lft for the evening leaving us to fend for ourselves and did not return at all. She was not there when we left in the morning. Any guest could have taken anything from the inn. Total lack of

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was just for one night, but everything was quite nice. We were told by the host, who was there when we arrived, that the room on the top floor with us was also occupied, but we never saw or heard anyone. Two rooms on the bottom were occupied but we heard no noise from anyone. There is some traffic noise from the road, but nothing that kept us from sleeping. Kitchen was convenient although we did not cook, only had coffee there, and the breakfast items were appreciated. Most of the negative reviews I saw had to do with access codes not working and not being able to get help if it was a late check-in, but we had no problems. We did not have time to bike, but would like to come back one day and try the SW Trail, which is right across the street. We had a really excellent beer at the SW Brewery, and a very good dinner at Sushi Yama.

This place was super cute. Very clean. Convenient to Travelers Rest shops, restaurants, & Swamp Rabbit Trail. Even though they changed our room from a 1st floor to a 2nd floor room without notification, when we left, we said, "This place was great! We'll stay here again!".However, I regret to say that our security deposit was never refunded, instead our room charge was refunded, which was roughly $70 less than the deposit. I reached out via phone & text multiple times to have the charge & refund correct with zero response. I have sadly had to resort to disputing the charge via my credit card company. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place for this reason and would give them a 1 star overall.

We (three of us) stayed in the Coach House which is cute, little and .one room (plus bath) . We were quite comfortable, sleeping well in the king-sized bed and on the sleeper sofa. Plenty of lush towels in the bathroom, nice warm shower. Great location in downtown Traveler's Rest. Would definitely stay again.

Please please do NOT stay here. I am warning you. I booked a 2 night stay at the Swamp Rabbit in after receiving news that my apartment flooded. From the pictures and website information I thought this would be lovely stay. Let me tell you now, it was not. They are supposed to send you the check in code for the keyless entry and all info the morning of your checkin day. I received check in information HOURS after check in.That was after I REPEATEDLY tried contacting the Inn numerous ways (email, phone, website). Once I got to the Inn, the 4 digit check in code was incorrect. I tried calling the emergency line, once again, numerous times. We stood outside, on Christmas Day, in 20 degree weather for as long as we could before we realized we would have to stay at the hotel next door. I warn you—communication with this property is basically IMPOSSIBLE. I was finally able to get in touch with the owner the next morning and she profusely apologized and promised a refund. After 1 week of not receiving my refund, I sent an email and attempted to call to ask for an update. After 2 weeks, I sent another email and called. Both attempts I could not reach ANYONE. After 3 weeks, I have finally gotten intouch with the owner and she FINALLY issued a refund. Please, save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else. There are better options around Travelers Rest. I have NEVER had such an awful experience with any hotel/Airbnb. I’ve also never left a review like this, but after such a hassle I would feel bad not warning others about my experience with the Swamp Rabbit Inn. There are numerous other reviews with the same complaints. I always love supporting local businesses, hence the reason I booked a stay here and not at a major hotel chain. Hopefully others have a better experience than what I did, and many others.

I'm writing this review to help others have a great stay at the Swamp Rabbit Inn TR. Overall we had a pleasant stay and will likely return at a future date. It is important to understand that while the pictures would make it appear a bed and breakfast, there is no on-site manager. In the morning there is is cleaning and maintenance staff but they have specific jobs to do and are not interested in chit chat or small issues. This fact means I would not recommend arriving late (like we did) in case you have an access problem since it can be very frustrating. There is a key code to the house and room and if the locks aren't working as expected you won't have someone there that you can call. The phone number for the Inn does not bring you directly to a person unfortunately and this causes delays and concern when you are having issues. Our issue was resolved after the security system likely told the owner someone tried a code 30 times. The issue of direct communication frankly is probably number 1 on my list of concerns as the other issues could have been lessened with the ability to talk to someone when the issue arose. My second recommendation is ask about how to control the heat prior to your arrival. They keep things cool and in the two rooms we stayed in we didn't see any in-room heat control. We were freezing one night and had to resort to pushing up the house temp a couple of degrees. I'm not sure what effect this had on the upstairs rooms but we were desperate. Parking is a bit of a free-for-all since there are no assigned spots and the maintenance staff do not like if you park in front of their tool shed (which we found out day 2). I don't like parking on people grass so that left me to guess where to park best. Overall the place is cute and quaint and overall what the pictures convey. After reading the reviews I can see all the issues and great times documented happening there.

Coming here was so nostalgic. Sort of like “going home to mama’s house”. Everything is so well maintained and sparkling clean. It’s an oasis of quiet in a busy time of life. I’d recommend it to anyone.
