When looking for local and simple down home eats there are places where it is busy because it is cheap and the quality reflects the price. There are places where it is busy because the food is stellar but expensive. Then there are places where good food and good prices meet in a no frills, no nonsense and nothing fancy place. This is Paws Diner. This is not New Southern cooking. It is not the best down home Southern cooking I have had but it is good tasting, good portions, served with good Southern welcome and warmth. My meat & 3 was well under $7. My fried chicken was very moist and tender full of deliciousness. I do not know how the other meats or sides taste but the majority of the folks sitting around me and waiting in a line out the door are "first name" regulars so I assume Paws is doing fine by them. If you come at lunch time be prepared to wait for a table. Fortunately it's not a long wait.

This place is a MUST when you're in Clemson. I've read through some of the reviews on here about slow service, etc. BUT you have to keep in mind that the place is almost always packed full of people because the food is that good and cheap so you have to have a little patience with your waitress. And no matter how busy it is, every time I can expect a kind server. As long as you don't mind being a little patient, it's well worth your time of going. My food is consistently hot and fresh every time I go.

Typical southern college town diner. Food is good. Seating is a little cramped and best entrees tend to run out early. Prices are reasonable. Definitely recommend.

I will start off by saying, you can get a lot of food for your money's worth and our waitress was very sweet and efficient. However, the person I was with ordered Diet Coke and didn't realize until a refill was brought out in a cup without a lid, that there was a film over top of the soda. The waitress tried again with another cup and there was still a film over the second cup of soda. I have no clue if it is like this with all sodas, but just be aware of this if you go to order soda! Also, I ordered a burger and noticed as I was eating that the meat was not cooked evenly whatsoever. On top of this, we waited 45 minutes for our food while watching food being delivered to tables who sat down way after we did.

This was one of the worst experiences that I have had at a restaurant in a while. You seat yourself which isn't bad but it's at a dirty table. No menus, had to get them from another dirty table. Waited for the server to greet us (8 mins). Gave her our order. Two tables come in after us and got their food before us. One of the tables even ate and left before we got our food. We had to wave our server over to ask about our order. The food came out about 2 mins later, after a 30 min wait. No manger came to check on us,, for that matter, the server never came back, no drink refills, nothing. This place was terrible. Terrible service and terrible food. Beware, don't waste your time or your money!!

At first they only gave us 2 of our drinks and there were 4 people. The waitress that originally came and asked us what we wanted to drink did not come back to serve us for 30 minutes and a different waitress had to get the rest of our drinks and take our food order. I've been here before this visit and it was good. Tonight has definitely changed my perspective and it might be a while before I come back. If our original waitress would've done her job, I could've gotten the fried chicken that I was hoping for and had to get chicken tenders instead.

Looks like a hole in the wall place, that a lot of people know about. You can get a LOT of food here for under $5, so if that is the kind of meal you're out shopping for....there ya go. My husband and I both ate a meat & 3 style lunch with a drink for under $10 total.

Amazing! I go here about once a week if not twice. They have great southern food. The people here know me by name. They know I want a sweet tea to go every time. I try to avoid their peak times because I know they get really busy for lunch and dinner but when school is out there is never an issue. They have a menu you can order anything from which takes a little longer. And a specials menu. Every day they will have three meats to choose from in the special menu where you get a meat and three sides for like $6. One meat on the menu is interchangeable every day but they always have fried chicken and I believe ham but I'm not sure. So here's the interchangeable line up currently: Monday- chicken fried steak Tues- chicken fried chicken (my fav) Wed- pork chops and chicken livers Thurs- turkey and dressing Fri- Flounder Sat- chicken fried steak If you haven't been here you are missing out!

I've been here twice before. This time came with Mariana, and my parents. The booths there are not that comfortable, but it's a nice southern homestyle dinner. It was really busy, and fortunately we saw a table up stairs in the far back (you seat yourself). The table still had the dirty dishes from the previous patrons on the table. After a few minutes our waitress came and cleared off the table, then came back to clean the table (just barley) we asked her to wipe the whole table not just part of the table. When she was wiping the table off it landed on my father and the floor. Service does depend on what time you come. This time our waitress had forgotten to bring enough silverware, and she had enough straws. She needed to come back 3 times and ask what type of dressing we wanted on our sm. salads. Other waitresses where checking on us also, and I received more response and friendliness from them than I waitress who was serving us. I had ordered steak and cheese, I've had this before and enjoyed it, however this time it was just about un-edible. It was cold, and the meat was sandwich had not condiments (Mayo, au ju, ketchup, etc.) which I had to wait a while for. The fries are frozen and always pale in color, the cole slaw is good, it's not to creamy but also not to much acid, just right combination. Overall if you're looking for a good old fashion dinner that's has good prices then Paw's Dinner is a good place to check out. If you looking for something more then, Paw's might not be the place for you. Personally, I think that I just make sure I come during the day when the food and service is better.

Went there for Breakfast Saturday and it was very good! We had a family of three and it was less than 12$ for us to eat. It was large portions and very hearty! The biscuit and gravy were so good and our daughter enjoyed the cute kids pancake. We will now be a loyal customer and can't wait to try dinner! Budget friendly and great for families. Update: went there last night for dinner and the meat and three was good. However my fried chicken wasn't hot when it came out even though the sides were steaming hot. Sent the chicken back (one small breast) and it was obviously put in the microwave because the plate was really hot too. Overall not bad for the price but needs at least one more piece of chicken to be filling. Another update: last week we all had hamburgers to go and when we bit into them all three had either pink or a bit of red with blood in the middle. Don't know what the rest of my family thinks but my last two burgers seemed grainy too. Have to adjust my star rating to three due to the burgers , still a great place for budget friendly eating

Very inexpensive food. I suspect that you have to know what to order as some things are very good and some are mediocre. I made the mistake of ordering country fried steak which was just a frozen patty, but the white gravy on top of it was superb. The navy beans were top notch, but macaroni and cheese was almost inedible. Corn bread had sugar in it, a "no no" for a cornbread lover like me who is old school and doesn't like sweet cornbread. It did have the right texture would have been perfect if they had left off the sugar. Lots of customers so will go again to find the foods that they do well. Waitresses were friendly and attentive.

This is quintessential southern comfort food for a good price. I go to southern-style restaurants in other places and I'm blown away that fried okra costs $9! At Paw's, you can get fried okra, fried squash, mac n cheese, and a main entree of fried chicken for like $7, and it's delicious! A good deal for a college kids checkbook and a good meal for anyones belly! PS: Yall gotta try the corn nuggets. It says just corn on the menu, but its actually coen nuggets and its delicious PSS: Go Tigers!

Awesome experience all around! You enter to the elements of community and smiling faces. Seating was pretty good for a small restaurant so we quickly made our way to a booth and within seconds were we greeted with hey y'all and what'll ya have to drink.. We ordered drinks and looked over he menu...short listing but big on home style so we were thrilled. Ordered the corned beef hash (hubby was excited because it wasn't cooked with onions), comes with some sides so he got grits and 2 fried hard eggs and a side of toast. I ordered the single gravy biscuit and a side of crispy bacon. The gravy was packed wit chunks of sausage meat and was thicker than most...score! While dining we heard all kinds of "honey", y'all good, and need anything? It was the genuine terms and quaint atmosphere that will gave us back here again. Note - When traveling from Easley on Clemson Blvd...its not as far down as the yelp directions suggest, it's across from an Exxon and there are 2 entrances to the parking lot for ease. Great prices, great service....we will be back

We were not impressed. Don't know if it was the time of day or if it's always like this. The parking lot is always packed so we decided to give it a shot. The waitresses were pretty short with us.The food tasted like it came from an elementary school cafeteria. Just not good. Probably not going back.
