My moving team was ABSOLUTELY amazing! They were very careful with packing and loading and unloading my belongings. I would surely recommend this moving company to anyone moving local, out of town or out of state!

I’ll preface this review with the fact that I have moved 20 times in the last 20 years, so I have considerable experience. I’ve seen the “good” and “bad” when it comes to moving, and overall Coastal Carrier Moving and Storage was very good, but a few things prevent me from giving a 5 star rating.
I’ll start with the positives:
1.) They were able to accommodate one of my preferred move dates on extremely short notice after my original movers (All My Sons Moving & Storage) tried to increase the price of my binding estimate and change my move date four days before the scheduled move. Coastal came to the rescue and they fit me into their schedule for a move between states (SC to NC) two days after coming out to perform the on-site estimate, and best of all they completed the move all in one day instead of spacing it out over two days.
2.) The four man crew worked hard loading and unloading despite the 90+ degree heat, and for the most part handled everything with care.
3.) Their pricing was competitive relative to other estimates that I received.
Now, for the negatives:
1.) The travel time took far longer than expected. What is typically a 3 hour drive in a car took them more than 6 hours to complete. Now I realize they had to make stops to refuel and a fully loaded truck won’t travel at the speed of a car, but I was surprised at how long it took for them to arrive, especially after they arrived 45 minutes later than the ETA they provided when they were an hour away. Granted my move was based upon total weight, so the delay didn’t impact the price I paid.
2.) During the unloading process two of the crew members (foreman and crew member) got into a heated altercation. It escalated to the point for the foreman threatened to call the police. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and they finished the job without that happening.
3.) Also during the unloading process and well before the job was finished, I was pressured to provide the gratuity for the services in tandem with the payment for the job. Additionally, at multiple times during the job, the foreman made remarks about expectations regarding gratuity. Personally, I would have preferred waiting until everything was unloaded before making my decision about how much to tip.
4.) I personally padded and shrink wrapped nearly all of the items that were moved before the movers arrived, even though the crew provided their own moving blankets and wrap. I prefer having extra protection whenever possible. Unfortunately, a few of the items that I didn’t wrap myself sustained damage during the move. Nothing was completely destroyed, but a few of the items sustained chips, scratches, etc. Given the fact that I only accepted basic coverage, no claim was filed to address the damage, so I can’t speak to how they handle their claim process.
5.) I was charged for some materials that ultimately weren’t needed. My estimate included multiple mattress bags, but I supplied my own, as well as my own shrink wrap, but my final bill included charges for the materials that weren’t supplied. This coupled with the fact that they initially tried to collect on a credit card processing fee for the deposit, which I was assured would be waved was a little frustrating. Fortunately, after a couple of phone calls the processing fee issue was cleared up and not assessed.
In the end, I would utilize their services again because of how well they executed, especially given the circumstances.

The team at Coastal Carriers were fabulous from the moment I was given the quote to moving day! They are extremely professional, accommodating, kind, courteous and respectful. They handled my furniture as though it belonged to them. If you're looking for an amazing mover, you won't have to look any further. Top notch company!

We could not have been more pleased with the entire experience with Coastal Carrier, from the estimate through to the actual move. Communication was top notch from both Jim and James, and the team of Kevin, Trinidad and Brandon was superb. Professional, personable and efficient. Highly recommend!

The Coastal Carrier Moving & Storage Company Staff were phenomenal with our move. There are to many names to list. I do not want to miss anyone for their professionalism. The entire crew who assisted in planning, packing, assembling, removal of boxes, etc. were top notch! There were not any household breakage in the move.
