This had been my go-to garage for a while but not after my experience with their owner today. I was told that I needed two new tires and was sent an estimate for $185. Great price, I approved it no problem. Brought my car in today and when it was done, I was notified that the total was $415. I called to ask why the difference between the estimate and the total and was told that the estimate was for one tire. I asked why they would send an estimate that isn't for the entire job and the owner basically started to yell at me over the phone saying the car needed two tires and would I like him to put one of the old ones back on, otherwise basically to go F myself. All I wanted was for him to say "sorry for the miscommunication on the estimate" and we'd be good. But I couldn't even get a word in as he's talking about "this is how I've done this for 40 years" and other boomer nonsense.
To send an estimate that doesn't have the total for a job is so completely outrageous and deceptive that I will never be going to this place again. Congrats to them on getting the extra $230 and losing a lifetime, previously loyal customer.
Edit to respond to owner's response:
Yes, it's great to know the cost per tire. so you put that in the estimate and then show that x2 so the total is accurate. To show a total for an estimate that isn't accurate is deceptive. full stop.
I'm not sure why it's arrogant to expect an apology given the deceptive estimate and the way that you spoke to me on the phone. Feel free to call and apologize for the poor treatment. Otherwise, that's the end of a ten year relationship for you (with more to leave I'm sure if the behavior is continued with other customers)

Garrison's is the ONLY place I trust with our cars! Glen, Brian, and John are honest and reliable. Recently, our car was hit while parked. I took it to them AFTER the body shop because the car wasn't running well. They pointed out all the things that were missed by the shop as well as some poor workmanship. Thanks for everything!

I will never go anywhere else. John, Glenn, Brian and Barbara are A+++ professional and friendly. They are busy and John took the time to explain everything in such detail. Auto shops can be stressful environments for all parties involved, but there’s such a positive attitude the moment you walk into this shop that just puts you at ease.

No other auto shop even comes close to Garrison's. They've always been incredibly honest and fair to me. If I move out of the city one day I think I'll still make the trek up to Garrison's.

I'll only be going to Garrison's in the future! John was so kind and helpful. He not only helped with my car, but sat me down and gave me an educational experience so I would know what to look out for next time. Not knowing a lot about cars, I often feel mechanics are trying to take advantage of me, but not John! So grateful for him for making time for me this morning and that I know where to go now!
