Is this a four star hotel? I'm really on the fence.Location is good, valet parking is a nightmare - took 45 minutes of sitting partially blocking traffic. Nobody to help with luggage. Decent system for retrieving the car by text when we left. The hotel itself has no bar and no real dining options. Room IS nice - best thing about the hotel.Breakfast was decent, lacking in fresh fruit though - and a really chaotic layout. Staff seemed to have a hard time keeping some things supplied. Wife did compliment the scrambled eggs - so there's that.Overall feels more like a 3 * hotel and a little expensive for what you get, which is mostly location.Rooms: Nice rooms. Comfy bed. No complaints about the room.Nearby activities: Plenty of bars and restaurants in easy walking distance.

I chose this hotel because it is conveniently located for single travelers within walking distance of major sights and the metro (very near the SEPTA line to the airport). The area felt safe to me, an older woman, but there is a lot of street noise well into the night which I could hear even being on the 25th floor, which is not the hotel's fault, just the location. The hotel is very, very clean and well-designed, although the "eco" thing seems more marketing than real--lots of paper and plastic in the dining area and room, pre-packaged this and that. Staff is professional, but a bit chillier than I found people in Philadelphia to be. This is above the price point I generally spend for hotels, and while I have no complaints, there was nothing special that justified the price or made me loyal to this particular hotel or brand.Safety: I felt safe as a senior woman, traveling solo, walking everywhere. I did not walk around at night, so I cannot speak to that.Walkability: Great location to walk to Reading Terminal, Love Park, all the historic park sites, art museums. Lots of signage to places of interest.

The room was large and clean - huge fridge and kitchenette area - large shower and bathroom - bed was waaaaay too firm for us - not sure how to help that - location was great - close to the City Hall and Reading Terminal - walking distance to many sites and very close to the train.Nearby activities: Close to the City Hall and many of the sites like Reading Terminal

I’ve never left a comment other than good feedback regarding hotel staff, however, I feel I have to say something after my experience with the front desk check in staff, Jen, at the Element Philadelphia. She’s the most unprofessional staff I’ve encountered at any hotel I’ve been to around the world. We arrived at 11:15AM, after requesting an early check in but the room wasn’t available, which is fine, so we left until 2PM to get lunch. I called on our way back and Chloe told us the room was 30 min from being ready. We arrived at the hotel and mentioned Chloe saying our room was almost ready and Jenn rolled her eyes at me and said, “check in isn’t until 4, sorry”. I said ok, anyway you can ask housekeeping if our room is close to being ready? Like Chloe had said on the phone… She simply said “nope, check in’s at 4”.Jen has no business representing Marriott and speaking to people like that… I called Chloe back and she said, “Sir, your room is ready”. I went back to Jenn and magically the room keys appeared as she frustratingly handed them over. I left the front desk feeling like I wasn’t welcome at this property and wanted to tell her how unprofessional she was but knew the message wouldn’t be received by her attitude.Overall, not even close to what you expect from a Marriott property. She needs some training or a different profession.Noteworthy details: Rude front desk staff

We had to cancel our trip to Philadelphia due to a family medical emergency. We had to eat the non-refundable flights and other events we had planned. I booked directly through Marriot for the hotel, so I figured I'd call and ask if we could get partial refund or Marriott credit. Anyway, the front desk person was very nice and helped us out! 5/5 Service. When we eventually travel to Philly, I'll definitely be staying here.

Beyond words can describe. I give this hotel 1,000 stars if I could. Best views. Amazing staff. Thank you to all who helped our stay more special than expected.

Incredibly loud. I tried to change rooms and when I did they gave me the exact same ambient noise. My family member came in and got a parking lot and I would have rather have had that I don't understand how they didn't understand quiet. Three nights with no sleep so far

Was excited to stay in Center City’s newest Marriott only to be utterly disappointed by the inconsistent service. Going into day two around 4:30pm I noticed several yellow stains - it looked like someone blew their nose - on the duvet in my king room. Reached out right away via the Bonvoy app and housekeeping came by to reassure me that they got my request but where waiting on clean linen delivery. Left for dinner and returned at 10:45pm only to find my room untouched. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get a change of linens, housekeeping left the dirty duvet on the loveseat, and I didn’t make it to bed until after 1am. The following morning upon checkout the front desk was uninterested in how I found my stay and, when I brought up the issues, tried to brush them aside. I didn’t even mention the crusted food on the microwave and kitchen drawers, the lack of DND sign, blood (?) on the carpet, stains on the drapes, crumbs on the bed platform, and no cups or cutlery - my bad.The final straw? Had them hold my luggage for a few hours until my flight. When I returned, the staffer placed my bag - containing expensive electronics - onto a table in the business center, where it promptly toppled to the floor.Valets notoriously awful too. If you’re catching a taxi or ride share around peak check-in and checkout hours allow extra time. The street is frequently double parked illegally, reducing it to a single lane of traffic crawling down Chestnut.Beyond disappointing.

We stayed last weekend for the Broad Street Run. We had a corner room on a high floor which was really quiet. The room was huge and comfortable. Only complaint: there was shampoo, but no conditioner or body wash. The staff were so nice. When the gentleman checking us in found out we were there for the run, he automatically gave us a 2pm checkout time. My friend stayed at another hotel and had to BEG for a late checkout-12 noon was all they gave her.I left my jacket in my room and didn't realize it until 6 days later. I called the hotel and did NOT get a long menu to scroll through. I spoke directly to the front desk and was transferred to another person who confirmed a few things and said they had my jacket and asked if I would like it mailed to me. Super easy. The location is great if you're ok with not having a car.We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

My recent stay at the Element Hotel in downtown Philadelphia was an absolute delight. From the moment I checked in, the hospitality was top-notch, thanks to Leah at the front desk. Her helpful and welcoming demeanor set a positive tone for the entire visit. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, providing a comfortable retreat in the heart of the city. What stood out most, however, was the consistently friendly service; every staff member I encountered greeted me with a genuine smile. This warm atmosphere makes the Element Hotel a standout choice for anyone visiting Philadelphia. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning.

My room on the 19th floor had a floor that sloped. My chair roled from under the desk with or without me sitting in it. If I stood up, I had to look before sitting as my chair would be across the room. Breakfast left much to be desired. They only had vallet service for $73 per day. I would prefer to not ever stay here again.
