Edit: I am being harassed because of this review. A Lynda Bedford is going on facebook to harass me. I called NP. It is probably a client. They were extremely nice about it and horrified that they are being used for harassment.
I went there for 8 years. They diagnosed my cat with painful cancer. A couple of days later, the oncologist forgot to give me pain medication and was closing. I called NPAH and asked if I could get it from them. The receptionist nastily said yes. I went there and she refused to give me the meds because they were "too busy". She said I could wait there until closing in case any doctor had the 5 minutes to sign the order. Finally, another receptionist helped me. They later said this did not happen. The one receptionist would have let my cat die in pain. I will never go there again!

We recently had to put my mother's dog to sleep there and they were very kind and understanding at such a rough time in our lives...?❤
This review was left in May 2021 when she passed I don't know why it posted again now.

Mixed review on a few visits and different pets:
My experience was on 4/15/23 @ 10am. I had an appointment and they were about 20 minutes+ late. So I took my dog here as he had hair loss issues occurring and I tried for a month with anti-bacterial and anti-fungi shampoo (real stuff that was recommended by a vet). I informed the vet tech nurse of my dog’s history, issues, what I have been doing, and opinions that I have received from my boss’s mom who is a vet. My dog is an abused chihuahua from the SPCA that I have had for a few years now and is terrified of people and they said that was fine. I held my dog the entire time and had him under control, but I assume the vet was too scared to get close or just didn’t care to take a look. As soon as he walked in the door he knew it had to be a bacterial issue. He didn’t take anytime to review the notes the vet tech nurse put in as I had to repeat myself. I informed him that it might be a thyroid issue as the balding started on the tail and that I have already tried for bacterial treatment. I have finished both pills (a month supply) that he gave me and his condition has gotten worst. At the same time, I brought 2 of my small pets here on the same day. I felt that it was odd that the same vet looked at them as they’re usually a different qualification. I brought the one there two weeks prior and wanted a 2nd opinion/confirmation. He didn’t even touch my small pet and I kept trying to point to what was concerning me and I felt ignored again. He kept saying that the vet from 2 weeks ago said it was a mass and that nothing can be done. And I kept asking if they were sure that it was a tumor and not a puss/cyst - due to the rapid growth of just 2 weeks. At the end of all of this, I wish I went else where. I wish I got a 2nd opinion from a different place (not a different vet from that place as they don’t examine if it was already done from a different vet at that place - they just look at the notes and agree with them automatically). My guess is he wasn’t qualified which was why he didn’t want to take a look and kept referring to what the last vet of 2 weeks ago said. My 2 small pets were put to sleep that day; they should have showed some respect and not charge an examination fee for putting pets to sleep (especially if that’s what the appointment was scheduled for). Seeing that my dog is even worst, I feel that they were wrongfully diagnosed and life tragically shortened because of the lack of care/effort.
In addition, now that I think about it, prior to my appointment, I was called and this lady was trying to move my appointment time to see a different vet and now I wish I did because I felt that she was trying to warn me.
I have called the place and informed them of this very issue/my experience and the only thing I was told was “he prescribed very good anti-bacterial medications. Would you like to schedule another appointment?”. Like no, I already spent $300 on 4/15 and had absolutely nothing accomplished with my dog. I was disrespected and ignored. No apologies or anything. I am completely traumatized.
The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the first vet who examined my 2 small pets actually touched my pets instead of looking at it from afar (because it would’ve been a one star). In fact, I really wanted this to be my new vet place because of the care I saw in that vet the first time. Perhaps this will be a place where I can get a 2nd opinion rather than first.
will update this. I am very fair and give chances.…
Update: I received a sympathy letter in the mail from them for my two pets passing… I really appreciate that so I gave them one more star.
9/18: better experience with euthanasia. Dr. Michael Engler VMD was kind and accommodating. Recommend to see.

North Penn Animal Hospital was a wonderful experience. We recently moved to the surrounding area and my cat Leo had gotten sick in the midst of moving. NPAH was able to get him in quickly to check him out and make sure that he was still in good health although we were not an established patient. The vet tech and the veterinarian were super gentle and understanding about his apprehensiveness in the exam room. They gave me a recommendation and suggested either medications or waiting it out and respected my decision to wait it out; I appreciated they gave me the ultimate decision vs. saying that he needed it and nothing else. NPAH has a separate entrance and waiting room for cats and dogs which I appreciated as Leo is very nervous around other animals. They also had calming pheromones in the waiting room. We will be using NPAH as our regular vet moving forward. Thank you!

The staff is very professional and helpful. Our dog recently needed surgery, and we were very anxious and called more times than necessary but everyone we spoke with with very understanding and able to answer questions. Exactly what we needed to reduce our anxiety and Bella is doing fabulous and back to her old self just 4 days later

MAKE SURE SHAUN JOHNSON IS NOT YOUR VET!!! We just had to bring our dog in for emergency euthanasia due to heart failure and Dr. Johnson was terrible. We were brought into a quiet back room, with the lights off and calming music playing which we really appreciated as our dog was struggling to breathe and we were doing our best to keep him calm and comfortable. Dr. Shaun Johnson storms in the room flicks on the lights and starts talking AT US (not to us) in a loud booming voice showing a serious lack of bedside manner, lack of compassion and zero empathy. He did not even greet or touch our dog. It felt like he was annoyed with an inconvenience instead of being a medical provider there to help us. After leaving the room I went out to ask for a different Vet to help us with this difficult experience and caught Dr. Shaun essentially telling the tech to "just have them sign the paperwork so we can get this over with". Absolutely NOT the energy you want around your beloved furry family member in their final moments. I requested a different Vet and was accommodated with a switch to Dr. Bilello who was kind, soft spoken and treated our sweet boy with respect. Additionally, all the other staff we interacted with were so incredibly kind, compassionate, helpful and supportive especially the admins Tara and Ashley. Other than Dr. Shaun we had as good of an experience as you can when going through an emergency euthanasia for a dog in distress but if you can call an in-home euthanasia service like Lap of Love who we have used for many of pets and would have for this dog had it not turned into an emergency I advise you to do so. If you have to take them here I highly recommend you request NOT to have the heartless Dr. Shaun as your Veterinarian.
UPDATE: The office manager did reach out and we had a productive conversation. I do hope that Dr. Shaun Johnson is able to use this as a learning experience and no other families experience what we have.

This is an amazing veterinarian service, the staff are excellent. The doctor we had for our puppy's neutering is great, very friendly efficient and straight to the point. The place itself is really nicely organized, clean and space feels well taken care of. I feel great about using them in the future!

Dr. Alex Bilello is kind but he misdiagnosed my cat twice. I’m now hesitating in going back to the North Penn animal hospital, being afraid that I would have Dr. Bilello looked at my cats again… The first misdiagnosis was when my cat had vomiting and not eating, the diagnosis was ‘urinary blockage’ because he squeezed my cat’s bladder and my cat screamed without passing urine. So he recommended immediate hospitalization and possible urinary surgery. Even though I remembered seeing my cat peed not long ago before we took him to the vet, I decided to trust Dr. Bilello and left my cat there. After 3 hours, vet called and said my cat successfully passed urine and there seems no blockage… It was good news in the end, but my car almost went through an unnecessary surgery, besides there was no other explanation about why he vomit/not eating in the first place…. The second misdiagnosis was when I noticed a red growth on my cat’s teeth. My cat has a history of teeth resorption so I suspect it was resorption lesion again. However, Dr. Bilello took a very quick look and told me it’s because my cat broke his teeth……I was in shock but he was so certain and showed me what the healthy teeth should look like… I was very in doubt about his judgement as I went home and observed my car for another week and I really don't think the teeth was broken… So I took my cat to another vet this week and the other vet diagnosed that indeed being tooth resorption and got me a dentistry appointment very quickly…
I respect all the vets and technicians who helped my cats in the past in North Penn animal hospital. They have a cat only room for cats which is awesome. I really want to continue to have my cats treated there but I’m just so scared of another misdiagnosis…

I wanted to leave a nice review and say a thank you again to Dr. Raab and her team for helping us make the extremely difficult decision to put down our 6 year old beagle who was suffering from severe pain. Dr. Raab was compassionate, empathetic, and helped us talk through this difficult decision. We are still very heart broken over losing our sweet girl, but we are so happy that we went to NPAH and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Dr. Raab if you are looking for a veterinarian

I wanted to share how helpful the Vets at NPAH have been with our MANY issues. I could name them all as all the Vets are great but we wanted to thank Dr.Engler for helping us and taking time to talk to us at length so we understand what is happening. We felt important and like we weren’t asking too much or were just worrying too much. Thanks you all so much for your help and kindness. Love NPAH!
