The women I was talking to, Connie was not helpful at all. I’m going through the difficult situations of needing to surrender my dog (due to a bite). All she kept talking about was rabies. She was very insensitive when talking about putting my dog down just to test him for rabies and then saying that I would need to do something with the body afterwards. None of this was discussed during our initial conversation. I told her multiple times that he has his rabie shots and I have the paperwork for it. If you need to make that hard decision I would not recommend going through her.

They may want to reconsider the “responsible” and “care” parts of their name.I discovered a cat stuck in a tree on my block and after striking out with the non emergency number, they suggested reaching out to ORCA. The man who answered said that like the fire department, they also could not do anything to help due to insurance. It strikes me as odd that an animal rescue organization would not be insured to actually execute various types of rescues. The man then suggested leaving food on the ground and “hope it’s hungry enough to come down”. No other references to other orgs, nothing.Well, the cat did come down- extremely distressed, by way of the thinner, less supportive outer branches. By then, I luckily had a neighbor help by holding a blanket underneath to catch the cat when it inevitably fell- which if I had listened to ORCA, would have fallen 15+ feet to the sidewalk.

The lady that runs that place is unprofessional as well as verbally abusive, she forgets what she says and then gets mad when you ask her to repeat herself like it's your fault she forget This place is a joke. Take animals anywhere but here. They're all about euthanasia. I'm putting animals down they're more interested in the money they get from donations then they are in the car of animals she constantly cut you off when you're talking cuz what she has to say is way more important than what you have to say point blank this place is a joke at a waste of your time. Call somebody else

Very helpful, we were so appreciative of the assistance we received. Any donations to this organization would be of tremendous benefit, they truly care about the work they do. Special thanks to Jodie & Libby, for taking the time to help save a litter of kittens that were found and in serious need of attention. Thanks again!

"Responsible care of animals"? IRRESPONSIBLE AND RUDE. Now let me start off by saying, Jodie was very kind when i first called and spoke about my situation. It was after when i believe Connie, the president of this terrible organization, called me back. Some background, i had a kitten who got diagnosed with pyometra and needed surgery we couldnt afford. I was calling around to see who could take her in and do this surgery. Well Connie believed it best to just give up and kill the kitten right away. She gave me a reccomendation as to where could help her get the surgery AND how much to put her down there. Well i called the reccomended place, they dont take surrenders and it was also 130$ more than she said. As the president of this organization and reading other comments, this is a KILL SHELTER. Dont bring your animal to these psychos unless you want it to be put down. Go to life saving center in reading. Theyre amazing!!!!! Took her within a day and she got the surgery she needed. This lady Connie talked to me like i was garbage and putting my kitten at risk ttrying to keep her alive. Shame on her and this establishment. Always read reviews

Worse place EVER!!!!! The lady was very rude!!!!!!! And apparently she kept saying the kitten had a upper respiratory infection with out even seeing the kitten. May I mind you the kitten has perfect breathing and is find other then not wanting to eat or drink. The kitten is just sick. She then goes tell us basically in other words to watch it die or take care of it our selfs!!! She was very unprofessional.

There was a stray cat that had a broken leg and was pregnant. I had called humane league and other facilities for animals. Orca was the only one that helped. They even brought a cat trap for me to catch the poor cat. They went above and beyond to help this cat and I appreciate everything that they did. Thank You

It's funny after reading some reviews... But I found a litter of kittens that were on my property and I was told very rudely that I should just let them die and that they had upper respiratory infections, the rude woman said that I know it's sad to watch watch... how can you say something like that.. I was talking to her As I was holding this kitten. The The Kittenis about 12 weeks old. I believe It's sibling Died Under my deck, there were 4 of the kittens. my neighbor took one and and I haven'tseen the 2. My guess is that they may have died but either way this organization did not help at all they do not care about animals.

I called on a Saturday to get info on a cat up for adoption. The young man took my info, but I never got a call back. The cat was Pet of the Week 6 days later and adopted out. I don't have much faith in their process.

This place is a joke. My fiance and I's cat bit the heck out of him last night, and when we called ORCA for help and advice, the lady on the phone was absolutely horrific. She continuously cut us off and wouldn't say anything other than that we needed to immediately get our cat put down and tested for rabies. We've had him for about a year now, he never goes outside, and he shows no other signs of rabies. He's scratched and bit us before and we've been fine. Yet every time either my fiance or I tried to say anything to her, she once again pushed euthanasia. She was snippy and snarky and absolutely seemed like she had no interest in helping us or our cat. Disgusting. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, and I really wish someone would look into them for how readily they push euthanasia.

Called to get advise on rehoming my cat. It recently bit me quite hard and I am a bit concerned about keeping it any longer. The lady on the phone told me the only thing that I can do is get the cat put down and his brain biopsies for rabies. Very unprofessional. Argumentative. Not helpful at all.

My cat has been missing for two months. A month ago, I called ORCA to see if a cat who fit my cat’s description had been brought in. The lady who answered told me “I would have no idea. I work from home. I’m just the person who answers the phone”. She specifically told me “all calls are routed to her”. I then asked her if I stopped in the shelter that day, would someone be there to ask about my cat. She, no joke, said “I would think so. But I couldn’t even tell you where the shelter is”. So I told her the address … in case anyone called her (the call person for ORCA who all calls are routed to) to ask for the address.I hung up the phone and walked to the address on Orange Street only to find the building had a condemned sign on it and was vacant.I found out later that they had a fire and are at a temporary location … but don’t give that info out. What kind of organization keeps their location hidden? Maybe a kind that doesn’t have an actual space for animals? Maybe a kind that has a call person answering phones from her home and not the shelter? How are you even helping animals? How is this call person helping anyone? She was nothing but unhelpful to me. It was almost as if it the conversation with her was out of the Twilight Zone.I then was told by many people that ORCA is to never be called to help animals. That they have a penchant for euthanizing … i.e. snuffing out the one life a being gets … and they are euthanasia happy. How, in current times, is any animal-helping organization choosing this antiquated and gross practice? How does this help any animal who has a shot at life? That’s unacceptable. How do people sleep at night who do these acts?I just hope to god that my pet never went through their (temporary undisclosed location) doors these past two months because there is no way she would have made it out alive. Or, at least, that’s what many people say. I have to believe them. Too many people say it, their answering lady didn’t care at all and they have no public location.

Called about a cat they were advertising for adoption. They told me that cat was gone but they had another similar cat. Volunteer Jody basically told me that cat was ours, all I had to do was fill out the paperwork. Submitted my paperwork that day. Next day, call from another volunteer who first told me that they couldn't send the cat so far away, then told me the cat was very, very ill, had been on three different antibiotics and wasn't getting better and couldn't be adopted out. Three days later they had the cat advertised on Facebook. I called again to see if she was well. The volunteer told me she was well, then realized that I was the person who was going to take the cat "so far away where she wouldn't even know where she was" (Greensburg PA) AND SWITCHED HER STORY. Suddenly the cat was very very sick again. WHAT?!?!
