Took my F-150 in for some transmission issues. They recommended that it be rebuilt (which was exactly what the Ford dealer told me). Since it's return I've put a couple of hundred miles on it now and all is good. The repair took longer than they expected due to a part they were waiting for. This caused me some angst because of a travel trailer I had rented. I was able to borrow another truck to pick up the trailer, but was going to have to make another trip into town to pick up my truck for the trip home. However Shawn, the shop advisor on my work, felt bad about the delay and delivered the truck to my campsite. Completely unexpected and above and beyond their responsibility. Definitely recommend this company.

Towed truck in and it sat for two months. Finally a simple test was performed. And they would not proceed. Wanted the truck towed out. Of my $3000 deposit, $300 was supposed to be refunded but never showed up in my account.

This is the only place West of the Mississippi we trust with our Sprinter. Joel is amazing. The shop is great. We have a converted sprinter, and let's face it - diesel, turbo sprinters require upkeep. We have worked with 3 other mechanics in different states before we finally found PAD. And - wow, wow, wow - they take such great care of our tank. They are thorough, provide expert opinions, and have made our van so much more reliable and a better driving experience.

I had some safety issues with and older Toyota camper I have. When I took my camper to Pro Automotive, the owner came out and looked my rig over. He seemed friendly, honest and knowledgeable. Turns out, he is none of these. Our camper had fake duallies, that needed service. After much research on our own, we found many with this issue went to a single wheel solution. We suggested this, but he said that wouldn't work. On his advice, he suggested we have a custom part made, but it would be very expensive. We trusted his advice, the expert, and had the part made.Fast forward three weeks, when we stopped in to check on the progress, a worker there told us that specialty part wasn't needed, and they went with single wheels on the back. We'd only have to pay for the wheels and labor, and not the specialty part that was made, and not used. When we came back the next day to pick up our camper, the owner was there. He told us we had to pay for the custom part that he suggested, and that cost $1700, and that wasn't needed or used. Sooo.. he misdiagnosed our car, and now he's charging us for it! Who does that? After arguing with him for 30 minutes, he said he would let us go only paying $900 towards the specialty part, on top of the tires, labor, etc. Also, and he kept the $1700 part, to sell again, if it was even made in the first place. We filed a claim with the BBB about his business, and he called us the next day. He promised us if we'd drop the dispute, he'd refund us the $900. We dropped it, but, of course, he never refunded us.

I first found out about PAD Overland through Van Compass - I was looking for a shop to install a suspension upgrade on my MB Sprinter and VC said the only shop in PDX for upgrades of any kind was PAD - after the suspension upgrade I’ve returned to PAD many times for additional work. Retractable Side-steps, bumpers, lights, tow package, Joel Givens knows the vehicles and is an excellent communicator, the cost of work and timeframe are always estimated beforehand. From the install of any upgrade to solid routine maintenance- PAD overland is the only shop I’ll use, these guys have seen it all. Thanks for your help Joel - RL

Amazing first experience! We were headed to the coast when a suspension bar broke. They let us drive up and repaired it right then and there with the dogs in the truck bed and all. We will be back for sure with the rest of work we want done.

Very happy with the work these guys did on my '96 CK3500 Chevy pickup; had them do a full rebuild on the engine as well as the ignition and cooling systems. They did professional work and their interaction with me was top-notch as well. Basically, they're pro's all the way around. I was treated professionally and with courtesy and the work was solid. Love my rebuilt truck. Special thanks to Shaun, David, and Adam. Would definitely use these guys again.

I’ve been working with Joel! I’ve been searching for a reliable place to bring my truck for a long time. I’ve been coming here for two years, and I’ve been dealing with Joel the whole time! He makes things easy and I trust his suggestions! They’re always in my best interest. I will continue coming here even though it’s in Scappoose and it’s a bit out of the way. Peace of mind is certainly worth a bit of a drive! Love this place!

If we could give them zero stars, we would. In 2022 and 2023 we had three vehicles in at this shop and the overall experiences were negative. Long wait times, terrible communication, an uncaring attitude. Some of the repairs required warranty work returns that still weren't done correctly. One vehicle, by coincidence, had a complete piston failure after their work and was scrapped. Another vehicle had a $3,000 manifold job done, with return work required. That manifold recently failed and we had another shop do the work. They said the Pro Auto manifold was a cheap part and the work was poorly done. Other shops have reviewed their pricing, after the fact, and commented that their rates are quite high. We cannot recommend Pro Auto and will never take our vehicles there again.
