I had some jewels I had found and had cut. He did a fantastic job setting then into a beautiful necklace for my sister. He was professional and expedient. We will definitely be back.

I was in need of having my stem/posts replaced on my diamond earrings and Roy was the only one I would have trusted! While he doesn't keep typical jewelry store hours, he's an amazing custom jeweler and was quick to get my earrings completed! I am VERY happy with the work and would definitely use him again for ALL of my jewelry purchases and repairs!

I didn't dare go in because I knew I would get caught up for several hours adoring these amazing beauties! I was oooo-ing and awww-ing through the window. The artist came to the door and asked if we wanted to come in. Our food order was up next door, which was my saving grace because I'm a ?& -aholic. I said "next time!" I will return and gather better pictures when I'm tooling around DT again. Beautiful work!

I researched this jeweler before I brought my precious engagement ring to have a stone replaced. Mr. John was fabulous, quoted me a very fair price, and when he returned the ring it was more brilliant than it has ever been. He secured all the prongs on the many other diamonds, and really took his time to ensure I would not have another tragic loss. He also has some incredible original designs of his own in the studio, which I plan to purchase at a later date. Can't say enough good things about this jeweler.

Aware of Roy John in the ‘70’s in the Reed Opera House, though it was 1992 before I had him custom make a ring. He gladly used an existing Diamond and added other stones of my choice. Since then, he’s repaired, replaced and redesigned several pieces of existing jewelry. My wedding rings were wearing thin so he suggested combining them with one larger band, and it worked great. Then, he reset, and polished and prettied up a 70 year old ring for my mother. All my goldsmith work goes to Roy John.

I had a very unfortunate experience here recently. I live in the neighborhood and see this place all the time. Roy has good reviews and I thought this seemed like a place I could trust to restore a piece of jewelry and possibly have a ring made. I had brought some gold materials in I had wanted to recycle and explore repurposing into a new piece. In retrospect perhaps I just should have left immediately because the way I was greeted by him at the door was off putting. He kind of just waved me in like it was a major inconvenience to be speaking with me. Once I entered he began interrogating me about everything from my career, marital status and home ownership. I got the strong impression something was wrong here and I decided not to proceed. I felt if my husband was present or another person was with me he would not have treated me in this way. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I grew up in Salem but have lived in Seattle until recently. I am used to snobbery but this something I can do with out. I do not recommend. There are world class gold and platsmiths in Portland and given this experience it's worth the drive!

Roy John designed my engagement and wedding band. He worked with my husband to design it according to what my husband had in mind. He was very easy to work with and I have a one of a kind wedding set now! We also went back for my husband's band. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a jeweler.

I went to Roy John today, and I could not be more pleased with the quality of craftmenship, service, and most of all artistic vision. After having another artist create a wedding band design that I was less than satisfied with, I took it to Roy to be sized down. Not only did he size it down but he made other improvements to the sape and texture of the ring that improved the over all look and comfort. The best thing he did for me, was give me positive memories to associate with something that means so much to me. Thank You!

This jeweler was entrusted with a century old gold ring that belonged to my grandmother and gave it the best of care. I love the work that he did, I do believe his price was reasonable, and he completed the work to my satisfaction and on time. Most important is how wonderfully creative he is with his gold work. I was so surprised and grateful! Thank You- Mr. John!!

I have worked with Roy John and enjoyed his custom jewelry work. His attention to detail is like no other goldsmith I have seen. If you want great prices and great work, go and see Roy John in downtown Salem next to Venti's.
