“If I could give this place 10 stars I would. This one of my favorite Portland businesses and is hands down my favorite local bike shop.I have steel and aluminum gravel bikes that need servicing throughout the year. When I first moved to Portland, I relied a lot on larger shops like River City Bicycles. After finding the Golden Pliers I am not going anywhere else. The experience could not be more different than the larger shops in all of the best ways.1. This is the best service you'll find in town. The folks here do an amazing job speaking with you about your bike, explaining the mechanics, and answering any and all questions with kindness and patience. No gatekeeping here. Every time I've brought a bike in with an issue, they've taken the time to walk me through the entire process of fixing it. As a hands-on learner with limited bike knowledge, this has been a huge learning experience.2. Every time I bring a bike in, someone stops what they are doing and starts chatting with me about what I need. Every single time, they have put my bike on the stand and sent me on my way with all the work I needed done in a short time frame.3. Huge wealth of knowledge among all of the folks here. I've seen them servicing everything from brand new full-suspension mountain bikes to old steel racing bikes. I'm confident I can bring anything here and it will be taken care of.4. Price structure is very affordable and transparent.5. The vibes can't be beat. Beer, coffee, records, product collaborations, and art. Such a beautiful and well-made space.This place inspires you to spend more time on your bike. Well done to everyone there.”

“I love this place!!! I love the quality products and the gi selection. They know what's up when it comes to jiu jitsu products, you'll only run into quality stuff here. They don't corner cut and buy basic cheap to make a profit. The prices are beyond reasonable and fair for what you're getting. I love supporting an actual brick and mortar dojo shop. I highly recommend this place. Stop by the shop just to chat about jiu jitsu, judo, or anything else that's on your mind.”

“If, like me, you need snow gear but aren't going to the slopes every weekend of winter, this is your place to shop. You have to have patience for a bit more chaos than your Nordstrom Rack or Ross Dress for Less, however. There are no neat rows, only a rabbit warren of windy paths. If you manage to thrash your way through the puffers and baclavas, you'll find incredible deals though. My son was coming to town to ski and I bought us each ski bibs for a mere 30 bucks each. In the chaos, however, I grabbed a women's XL rather than a men's for myself, which would not fit when I got home. No matter though, the Gen Z staff was super helpful and chill with the return.”

“To be quite honest the store is a little cluttered with low stock but Walt is a very kind, honest and upfront owner. He is very nonjudgemental and outgoing and he is also very highly knowledgeable in firearms. He is also able to do a good amount of gun smithing needs with quality equipment and can give you advice about firearms, attachments and even gear/kit. Walt did a red dot install for me for an Acro P2 and told me to check it after 500 rounds in case it wiggled, zeroed it in an I ran 1150 rounds in the past few weeks and his work shows for itself. He glued the threads down carefully. I also dropped my Glock out of my holster and it landed on the edge of the optic with no damage or knocking off my zero. This is defiantly a place I’d support locally. I’ll be back brother. See you soon. -Jimmy”

“I went to mountain shop to rent skis. I had a great experience! I was expecting them to be out of rentals (because it's a busy weekend), but they still had lots of stuff in stock. Our attendant was helpful in determining my boot size & pole length. He was super friendly and helpful. It was only $30 for a 2 night rental! I thought this was a great deal. Also - make sure you go in person, sometimes the website doesn't show all the rental information.”

“They not only have top quality gear, their customer service goes beyond expectations. I just had to exchange some rain booties for a smaller size. It was a gift and I didn't have a receipt. But they made the exchange anyway. Maybe it didn't hurt that I was wearing the newest of my three Showers Pass rain jackets, and Showers Pass rain pants, and Showers Pass casual pants. I wouldn't go out in the rain with anything else.”

“Best experience I've ever had a sporting goods store. I always have a hard time finding help when I go to one of the big corporate sporting goods stores and even when I do find someone to assist me, they typically are unable to answer my questions. I drove to Bashor's from Salem as I was in need of catching gear for my barely 12 year old son. He is very tall for his age and is in the 'in between' stage of Intermediate and Adult gear. Big box stores don't allow you to try on the gear. Bashor's does. The owner assisted us and showed us several options and gave us excellent advice as to what to get for my son. He found comfortable gear that fits him perfectly, with some room to grow into. I am more than willing to drive the hour for the excellent customer service I received. We will definitely be back. Great job!”
