This place is rad. We bring all of our friends and family here when they come to visit. It's always one stop amongst the Portland weird and it feels like a staple to us and our circle at this point.
There is a lot of taxidermy and that may not be up everyone's alley, but even so there is plenty of art adjacent or diagonal to that space that you just are not aware of.
They have partnered up with several artists that they have in that shop that do incredibly interesting things with their displays. I'm being cautious not to give you much away and being intentionally vague.
They also have geodes you can buy and break, other minerals, plants, and other gifts.
I think it's a very special place to visit.

I loved this place! Such a wide selection and so much more to see even if you can't buy it. I love seeing the giraffe!

I bought a ring here and flew back to Virginia only to realize my partners finger was a wee bit smaller than expected. Paxton Gate was gracious and sent me a smaller ring within the week. Elise went above and beyond to make us happy. Thanks!!

Amazingly friendly and helpful staff. The attendant I talked to while looking at the jewelry was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and sweet. They helped recommend some other places in the area since I was visiting. Their selection of taxidermy is really good and the prices for it are quite reasonable. They had a fairly large selection between all of their categories. The jewelry was beautiful and curated nicely and was typically in the fine jewelry category. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a nice shop that has a different selection than typical.

Paxton Gate is a captivating store that offers a diverse collection of taxidermy animals, including mammals, insects, and sea creatures. Additionally, they have an extensive selection of animal bones, fossils, rocks, and plants, all available at various price points. The store is filled with an abundance of intriguing items, ensuring that every corner reveals a new discovery. The customer service is commendable, and I highly recommend visiting Paxton Gate to explore the fascinating and unique items it houses.

A marketplace of metaphysical madness, containing everything from stones and crystals, jewelry, books, butterflies, skulls and bones, tarots and trinkets, and all manner of stuffed animals. To quote Ace Ventura: "This is a lovely room of death!", but in the nicest way possible. Everything you want, and nothing you need...unless you happen to be a witch, warlock, druid, or other practitioner of pagan prestidigitation and prognostication, in witch case (get it?), Paxton Gate is the portal to the underworld you have been looking for!

I love how knowledgeable the staff are about the origins of their products. It adds a professionalism to the selling of oddities that makes it possible for everyday people to appreciate the interesting collections they have. Their jewelry selection is my favorite. Not cheap though, it will have to be a forever prized piece if you get jewelry from here. Also carnivorous plants!
