Firstly, I had the most amazing experience! I had another hair stylist, at another salon, cancel on me twice. My hair has been growing back after chemo and it was looking pretty terrible and I've lived with a beanie on my head for nearly two years. I was ready for a change, especially for my mental health. So when that other stylist cancelled on me a second time, I was pretty devastated. I was told by two people to try Magnus Opus, so I called them crying and wanted to see if there was anyone available that day or the next to see me. I explained my situation and they got me to see Teresa the next day, who actually has worked with people like me, who want to style their short hair but also is in the process of growing it longer. She didn't have time to dye my hair, which I really wanted to, so I thought I'd have to come back. I did get a call from their awesome front desk, and was told that another stylist (Molly) could dye my hair at that same visit. I was so happy to hear that!
When I stepped into this salon, I felt incredibly taken care of and had zero anxiety. The salon is so cool and beautiful. It has a wonderful vibe. Both Teresa and Molly did an incredible job with making my hair look cute and giving me the confidence to go sans beanie from here on out. Thank you so much to everyone who gave me an amazing experience! It's been a tough couple years with many happiness obstacles and I really needed this win. I will definitely be back!

The staff was amazing and totally accommodating and friendly! Kailey cut my hair and worked her magic transforming my cut in the back! I absolutely love what she did! Highly recommend this place and Kailey. She is very talented!

My sister and I stopped in MO because they sell the haircare product she loves but was having problems finding. Being new to the area she inquired about getting her done. We did not felt most unwelcome. She purchased the product but decided not to pursue further services. No one smiled! At the point of sale they offered to put her in the computer as a Jane Doe not encouraging her to return for further services. Women shouldn't treat each other differently because of our hair or the color of our skin. Today Magnum Opus lost what would have been a great patron and a generous tipper.

I’ve been here many times over the years and always had good experiences, but Ricky has been the best stylist and colorist. So friendly , professional, detailed and really listens and understands your hair goals! These photos are after a haircut, and the highlights he did were from 4 months ago! I’ve never had this type of longevity from highlights

My wife and I used to live in Portland almost 10 years ago and have moved around the country for work; I can honestly, say that I have never been able to find a place as friendly, welcoming, professional, and have the best employees as Magnum opus! The styles my wife has walked out with have been impeccable every time. She had her hair styled by Lisa who took care to figure out exactly what my wife wanted while still incorporating her own flare to it. I had the pleasure of having Alissa as my stylist today. She took such great care of listening to what it was I wanted with my hair and gave great advice to help give me what I was looking for. She made me feel comfortable enough to let her add her own ideas to spearhead the style into something that would look great for a man my age. Alissa was easy to talk to, very professional and engaging. The conversation flowed so easily, it didn’t feel forced, or like some stylists that go down the line on questions they should ask their clients. We had such fun working on my hair that I honestly would travel cross country just to get my hair done by her only. She even took care of my daughters hair and took such care to ease her mind on her decision to color her hair for the first time! Jill was the desk concierge that cashed us out and she was so sweet to us, very complimentary towards us, genuinely kind and another young lady with light pinkish/purplish hair was so nice to talk to. I know that anytime I’m planning a trip out here to visit family and friends again I will make sure that I go to Magnum opus to get my hair done!

Furious! Bait & Switch scam-1/3-2PM appt, I waited 4+ weeks after booking online for haircut & partial highlight with Alissa -$185.-as service price. It doesn't say "starting" price. I get there, get in the chair and I get upsold being told I'll need toner for the highlights and that I'll need extra foils, etc, etc as if this is the first time in my life that I've had had a partial highlight and a cut. I then asked " so what you're saying is I'm not getting a cut and highlight for $185?" She said, "no, that's just starting price, sorry, but if you come on Tuesday, we have our interns that can probably do it for that price." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. For $185.+tip, around $210, was going to buy me an intern, cut and color. The online booking should have a clear statement that $185. is a starting price. Period. I have clear screen shots of the appointment booked pre and post and the website that clearly does "not" state that these are starting prices. Then she said, "I can cut your hair if you want." This was a no thank you, never again visit as I prefer services that are transparent. There are plenty of salons in Portland .What is worse is she was a referral from MO-your client. Since the manager wasn't in, I mentioned my disappointment in my online booking which clearly stated the cost of service for partial highlight and cut. Her response was, "I can see if the salon will pick up the additional cost," missing the entire point altogether and adding salt to the entire situation.
.What a complete waste of my time away from work and a 25 min drive!
