“I like to go to local grocery stores when traveling, so tried out the Ashland Food Co-op. Their selection is great, also have a salad bar, pizza, soups. It felt like a cute local grocery store, and when visiting it will be a go to stop.”

“This place has consistently low prices and mostly good service. They carry a lot of the brands favored by the more expensive co-op (which I love, btw) for a lower price. The vast majority of the checkers are friendly and helpful, except for one long timer that just checked me out who seemed to have the personality of a stone. Didn’t say hello. Didn’t ask if I found anything. Stared off into space mostly, earbud attached. No thank you. No goodbye. But as I said, that’s one checker alone and I’m not naming names. I think they could probably guess. Anyway, it’s not going to ruin my night. I’m moving on with my day. The only reason for this review is because Google asked (knowing I’d just been there) and I review often. I answered. I would recommend Shop’n Kart to anyone needing groceries in Ashland. It’s a great place, one disinterested checker notwithstanding.”

“Beautiful atmosphere, never too crowded. High quality food. Mama Léonie's chicken soup is delicious! Also the service is outstanding. My 82 year old dad was taking his time today and the cashier couldn't have been more patient, plus another employee helped us pack the bags and make sure my dad didn't forget his cane. That makes this store extra special and will bring me back.”

“Very convenient for quick grab n go convenience items. Staff is typically very friendly and they have a nice selection of items, particularly drink. Shame they seem to have gotten rid of the sandwich corner though.”

“I like Safeway a lot, especially in combination with Instacart. On days when I'm feeling good, I ride my bicycle to Safeway with a daypack, and load up as much as I can. Other days, when I've needed big things, and felt the other way, I used to rely on the Ashland Connector (currently out of service due to personnel shortages). Now I depend on the benevolence of neighbors and friends to tote me around when they can, and I am blessed in that respect. When I am unsuccessful in hitching a ride, Instacart via Safeway truly simplifies my life. Ordering online allows me to linger, allows me to click on my calculator and do the numbers, do the math, to work it out, to save my butt some money. And you bet your butt it does. I'm a Safeway member as well, so I save money regardless. True, Instacart's annual membership fee is a hundred bucks per year. For me, free delivery pays for itself in a short time. Plus I've never had to wait over an hour for my groceries to arrive. Also true, a gratuity for the picker, packer and delivery person of your order is suggested. Again, it's a small price in my world for the convenience, and allows me to give a nod of appreciation and respect to the person who brought me food. I tip15 percent. More during holiday times. All of it goes to your personal shopper/delivery person. Safeway's selections for the food-sensitive are increasing, with products such as Forager, Good Karma, Daiya, Soy Silk, and other dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan-friendly, and plant-based alternatives. I challenge you to say that three times fast, without looking. A great marriage of good food and service, in Agent Smart's opinion. Check them out:”
