This store is bigger than it looks. Excellent staff willing to help and give advice. Well stocked store for doing repairs or small projects.

Hello,
I have a complaint about your staff at the store located at 1212 Dufferin Street. Today, I visited the store to buy something, but when I arrived, the door wasn’t locked and there was no one inside. I called out several times, saying “Hello, hello,” but nobody responded.
Concerned that something might have happened, I went a little further inside and called again, “Hello, is anybody here?” One of your staff members, a tall man, suddenly ran over and shouted at me, asking, “Why did you come in? If the lights are off, it means the store is closed.” I apologized, explaining that I didn’t know that, but he was very rude and told me to leave, saying, “The store is closed, get out of my store.”
However, the store was supposed to close at 5 p.m., and it was only 4:03 p.m. at the time. I waited outside for 2-3 minutes and then went back in to ask for the manager. The door still wasn’t locked. When I re-entered, the same man opened the door, saw me, and immediately closed it again. I asked for the manager, and he claimed that he was the manager. When I asked for his name, he refused to give it to me.
This is highly disrespectful to customers and reflects very poor service. I am considering filing a complaint with Human Rights regarding this issue. No staff member should speak to a customer with that kind of attitude.
I look forward to your response and will be following up on this matter.

Had a very good service in the morning when I went to buy a clothesline kit in separate items. After giving it some thoughts I decided to come back later in the day to exchange the items with a full kit as it included a winch, which was not available individually.
When I came back to do this, the cashier was extremely unpleasant towards me. I explained the situation, but the cashier in a very condescending manner replied that he "couldn't" exchange the clothesline because I had unwrapped it by removing the plastic protection. Not only this is illegal, as you're allowed to return items that have been unpacked, provided that they are in good shape, but this is ludicrous.
The cashier justified himself telling me they didn't have a way to rewrap it in the backstore. However, how is this suppose to affect my right as a consumer? The cashier tried to press me into buying the full kit without reimbursing me for the items I had already bought. Again, this is extremely disrespectful as I've talked with other neighbours in the area and they told me they already have returned unwrapped items to this location.
Anyone can judge on the photo how it would have not been difficult to wrap it again or just tape in an elegant manner the cardboard.
What is funny is that I was willing to pay more for the full kit than for the individual items (+15$). What is even funnier is that a small shop like that prefers to be patronizing towards their loyal clients rather than taking care of them.
Lost my business.

Very helpful staff! Made sure I bought the right plunger for the job I needed instead of just selling me what I grabbed. Plus, there's a store cat which is an immediate 5 star.

Great selection of items in a residential neighbourhood. But the big thing I love about Bastone is their key cutting. I have had keys cut at Walmart so many times and they never actually work. Here the keys are cut perfectly the first time, every time.

The staff here are usually super nice and helpful, which is great! But today one of them straight up broke a minute hand off of a clock I brought in and didn't even say anything. I don't think I'll bring in any possibly breakable items in the future.

Fantastic experience here a couple of days ago. I was seeking a fairly niche item and the clerk helped me out with knowledge and enthusiasm. He even let me keep my item there for a few hours while I went to the gym. Will be back for my house fixing items.
