As a current employee at Food Basics, I want to highlight the great work of my colleagues. The staff is well-organized and attentive to customer service, always striving to meet the needs of our shoppers. Like many stores, we sometimes face challenges with new items, but overall, the team does an excellent job maintaining a positive shopping experience. I'm proud to be part of this hardworking and dedicated.

Not as good as I remember. Lacked variety, and had a number of empty selections.
Aisles were crowded with stock as well as people.
Will no longer be shopping here.

I really enjoy this food basics. It's a little small but seems to have everything you really need. The produce is good and the staff are friendly. There is no deli, bakery, or on site butcher. They also do not price match but generally the prices are quite competitive to make up for it.
Staff have all been genuinely nice

Clean store. Sale items are not always well stocked. Wish they sold beer. (They do not as of sep 2024).
Prices on some items are the lowest anywhere.
The parking lot is a pain because of the condos that are going up (sep 2024). This store is my go to grocery because overall it gets the job done.

This store is extremely difficult to get around in with a shopping cart. They stock the store while your shopping instead of at night. It's absolutely ridiculous insanity. Get a night crew. What's wrong with this stores manager and owners? They have little bunkers of junk food on the corners of every freezer. So you can crash into all this crap they just leave on the sales floor...Who eats all this processed food you people sell so much of? Most of the sale items are toxic processed junk. The sales floor would be much better if they dumbed down all the junk food displays. Ever hear of stocking shelfs overnight? Get a nightcrew, and get with the program!

Clean and well organized. Best local pricing on groceries. They even provide little shopping carts for the kids so they can have a little fun while shopping.

I hate leaving bad reviews and to be very clear I’m leaving this specifically for the produce. Without fail, every time I buy oranges or any fruit at your store I get one day before they go moldy. I thought maybe it was a one off, but no. The past 6 times it’s happened. I cannot justify buying fruit there any longer. I always heard that Food Basics gets the “end of the life” kind of food hence the cheaper prices, I guess it’s true.

I would like the opportunity to send my highest regards to the district manager MO. I had a concern regarding my visit last week.
I addressd this to customer service. The representative was fantastic. He spent time with me and directed this situation to the district manager.
I was contacted by MO. He was very respectful and his professionalism was outstanding. He took the time to listen to me and made me feel my business was very important too him and Food Basics. He understood the importance of customer relations and loyalty.
He wanted this situation resolved. I appreciated the resolution. I will continue to shop at that location as they understand the difficulties people are experiencing today.
Also, I would like to thank the store manager I met today Rachel and the employees. They were very helpful and respectful.

I was in Food Basics Pickering this morning, I used the self checkout. On my way out of the store, while talking to my mom on the phone and seeing a neighbor (multi tasking at its best) the employee watching me check out came running out saying 'excuse me' and waved me back into the store with a 2 finger wave. When I asked 'who me' she nodded her head and did the 2 finger come here thing again. Without saying a word she made me follow her back to the cash I had used, then she said 'OH'. The computer was asking if I wanted a copy of the receipt...she assumed I hadn't paid. I was treated like a thief for a very careless mistake made by a Food Basics employee. If she had only bothered to read the computer screen first before chasing me out to the parking lot. I have always loved Food Basics Pickering but at this point I doubt I will return. How utterly embarrassing and humiliating. I not only had to explain to my mother what was happening I also was caught by my neighbor. There is no excuse for this treatment...if you don't trust us to use self checkout then ditch the system.

Lights are bright but it's small and quaint. Lots of staff around. Decent meat selection but few bread options.

I tried this location during the boycott last month and gotta say it was a pleasant surprise. Clean, people were happy, good prices. I actually went back to the competitor and my bill spiked back up (I got some specialty items).
