Staff not friendly and not helpful. Rude sums it up. Considering that we have been coming for years to this store as my daughter with a severe disability participates in a special skiing program, we have never had this awful of an experience… I am sad that the the ownership has changed. It used to be our favourite place. Not anymore…

On first glances the Pakenham General Store is the sort of place I dislike; a culinary store selling over-priced olives, chutneys and artisanal chips.BUT you quickly realize that it’s not that sort of place at all because the majority of the food is made on site, with love and is delicious!Sticky buns, butter tarts, bread rolls and loaves, cheese sticks and a sausage roll that gets better with each visit. But special mention has to go to the sandwich bar at the back where a host of lovely ladies (who I suspect are the evil masterminds behind all the baked loveliness) make an uncomplicated sandwich on white bread with a choose of meats, condiments and toppings. And they do so with a twinkle in their eyes which makes my heart sing. What a treasure to discover in the lovely town and long may it remain!

I had spend a great deal of time with the former family that owned this store, and I am going to remember this place as it was then, warm, friendly and inviting. The families of this community showed me more humanity than any other place and Pakenham will always hold a special place in my heart. I decided to stop in, got my head snapped off when I was trying to navigate through the store recently. I was caught off guard, by the abrupt comment and bad attitude, and left. Do my job for a day and you might appreciate your line of work.

This quaint store is the perfect stop on your next Ottawa road trip. They have fresh sandwiches, baked good and toys that will bring you down memory lane. And if it's a nice day, you can enjoy that sandwich in Five Span Bridge Park.

This store has all the historical charm you can ask for. Not only is it rich in heritage but you'll enjoy perusing some of the unique vintage items in their extensive adventure-like upstairs gift shop while you also savour some baked goods from downstairs. With super-friendly staff, this truly is a great experience. ❤️ ?? ??

Walked in for a sandwich, left with 2 pies, 4 eclairs, rice crispy squares and a big smile. Staff are amazing and the baked goods are divine.

We were visiting from Ottawa and found this quaint store with many surprises. You might miss it as they don't have a signboard. The sandwiches and coffee were excellent. Grab some and head over to the stone bridge with picnic benches. The indigenous art coffee mugs are pretty cool. The pies, freshly baked bread and cookies all of it looked delish.Must visit if you are in the area.
