I called in about 2 dogs . They were busy so took them 5 hours to come get the two dogs you could tell they had been running around and traffic and heat and they were tired and scared . One the dogs was clearly hurt he cried at touch . Wen i called dogs in i gave decription of dogs bec they ask you too they showed up and had no idea what dogs looked like no knoledge that one was hurt and the put a rope around hurt ones neck as i tell them hes hurt and they drag the dog by his neck across yard rolling and fighting they dident comfort dog nothing the dog had been with me half day so i couldnt take it any longer so i bent down and picked him up he basicaly jumped in my arms i comforted him and put him in truck cage myself he was so terrifed he pee and started to poop and tes it was gross but the dog catchers were like yea were used to it . It was so sad for me to watch i felt guilty for calling the pound at all but i dident want nothing bad to happen to the dogs in hope they coupd find their owners ? they took 5 hours to come . I called in at 12 and by 2 dog pound guy calls me said he had a meeting he be 30 min . So another hour goes by and i call agin they say theiy were on a call but yet my husband was in traffic and they were not on a call they was in front of him driving he sent me pic . They knew i had dogs so they waited till hour before they closed to come get them and treated the dogs horribul mind you dogs already out in traffic and scared but you drag dog by his neck rolling i coupd understand if dog was aggressive but no both were sweet good dogs got along good with other dogs you could tell they were good dogs from good home just were tramatised bec who knows how long tgey had been lost i pray their family finds them

We adopted a dog named Riley and she has been a great girl. I was impressed with her manners as a pound puppy. She is good with babies and cats and listens so well.

All of the staff is kind and helpful. They are really understaffed there, so it was great to see volunteers walking the dogs. Definitely be patient with the staff and take that into consideration! They are very kind and patient if you are understanding. I would recommend doing any extra paper work after adopting in person and keeping a copy of whatever documents you agree to.
Updated photo : that sweet little puppy grew into a happy 90 lb dog

Had no idea about this place until we rescued a kitten and took him there. Super nice and clean facility (ESPECIALLY FOR LAWTON). Facility is almost brand new. Only CON was it was pretty small. But Lawton Rocks was there on site and the girls got to paint some rocks to inspire ppl. Check this place out, and Lawton Rocks!

They picked up a dog that my neighbors called in. I called and asked about the dogs welfare and they denied to tell me anything which is somewhat understandable however 3 different people gave me different information about when and if the dog would be available for adoption if not claimed. I called everyday for nearly 7 days and showed up multiple times. This dog was beautiful and terrified presenting as defensive, but so sweet during my interactions with her. After expending my energy trying to ensure this dog was safe it is likely they killed the dog.
This is a kill shelter.
The facility is not well kept, the staff is rude and unprofessional and I hope no one ever brings a dog here. Additionally this place is run by the city and if you look up the laws related to animal rights within this state there is little value placed on protecting animals.
This place wants to exploit people for money.
Another encounter I had with this facility was when an elderly man was giving up a puppy, the staff ran out and told me I couldn’t take a dog that was planning on being surrendered. That is none of their business if I want to rescue a dog that someone else wasn’t well enough to care for.

Now we have to pay a $5.50 "Administrative Fee" to register our animals with the city? The city requires that we do it. The people working there get paid to be there. Write that fee into your budget dude. Stop gouging the citizens to death with unnecessary fees.
